Hysterically enough, the Colossal Titan made an appearance during the KoF finals. He was holding a sign with his homies.

So, basically, I missed everything.

Pretty much.

The UMvC3 finals just an hour or so ago was incredible. It went down to the last match, the last characters, both with less than 1/20th of their health left. It wasn't hype; it was real, raw, and incredible highly entertaining and drawing action that showed why competitive fighting games are nothing short of incredible.

You also missed possibly the greatest Melee comeback ever (Popo with no Nana vs. a Jigglypuff with 2 stocks), one of the all-time best sets (HBox vs. Wobbles), Wobbles proving that unconventional characters can win and win big (he won winner's finals), Mango beating Armada (not for the last time probably) and then throwing his shirt into the crowd, the rising of Mango's status from an all-time great to the all-time great (he won the 2 biggest Melee tournaments ever; true facts) ,and the experience with the 139,000+ people who watched it live.

Also, the inspirational "ONE MORE YEAR!" chants by the Smash fans after the award presentations, which in all honestly deeply moved me, and just showed how much heart, character, and raw passion our community has for this incredible game almost 12 years after the fact. MELEE NEVER DIES!!!!

True facts: I clowned a lot with him at Rule 6, and literally like a dozen of us broke out into a fake ninja fight, ending with me joking I'd run him down with my car. He is one approachable dude who despite all the celebrating in and after game he does, is really nice and is a great sportsman. That kind of attitude is nothing short of good for all of us.

Mango = To Melee what Tony Stark is to the Avengers.

Who is it that decides if melee gets another year? Will we have to win some kind of game drawing?

I'm pretty sure the 139,000 plus viewers of the Melee Grand Finals decided that Melee will be in next year, along with the thousands in attendance the 700 entrants, making Melee the 3rd in live stream views, live viewers, and entrants (behind Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Street Fighter IV, both of which Capcom sponsored and helped hyped).

Yeah, KOF XIII overall looked very fun and was very entertaining. I left my computer running with that stream on and my older brother was just watching the heck out of it, and he didn't even know anything about it, or what game it even was!

I'm a Jigglypuff main in Melee and Brawl, and HB had a good run in the first round against Wobbles. He's one heck of a Jigglypuff.

That aside, Mango has earned my full blown respect for his amazing comeback, as well how he obliderated Wobbles.

Street Fighter IV max had about 15,000 less viewers than Melee.

Just sayin'... Melee's stream had the 2nd most ever for a fighting game ever behind Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 this year (in a instant classic final of anything ever).

I've never heard of it until I saw Maximilian play it on his channel, but today it looked awesome, so I'll try it.

I saw it on an Amazon sale a few months ago, and went "nah, that series is kind of stale."

Boy do I hate myself now.

Evo 2013 = the best competitive video game event of all-time, and there is NO question about it!!!

Man, I can't wait for Evo 2014, especially if Smash is there.

But before that, I gotta get good... er.... er.

Apartheid wasn't about getting revenge on and killing Black people for past actions.

I personally think the Whites (Dutch settlers) should've made an exclusive community for themselves and should've done all of their work themselves instead of Apartheid. There are some small communities of Afrikaners that do just that now-a-days.

Well that was fun. Especially reading the day-old+ EVO hype completely overshadow the Olimar reveal.
Already said it in my last post, but being in the audience > playing. And obviously over watching it on a stream.

I also like the idea of Femtwo. Then again I like both, and like Mewtwo for Mewtwo, not because he's the original Shadow the Hedgehog/darkcharacter.

Hmmm, then I guess you're more of a realist than a pessimist. What I learned so far that expectation will, in some cases, bring disappointment. I feel what you've been through and that's really normal considering the world we live in nowadays.

I've had someone argue with me on the definition of being a "realist" vs a pessimist. I don't care much for semantics/labels, but I don't see it as such. For instance, I'll take the negative option before the "realistic" one if only because I dislike being even somewhat hopeful when I don't have to be. Whereas being a realist is trying to be completely unbiased, which is impossible in the first place, I look forward to suffering and/or dealing with mediocrity in life, hence why I said pessimism is my thing.

All the terribly-written back-stories in the world couldn't justify it, in my eyes. I just write it off as being a proverbial stick in the mud. I don't judge anyone for being positive/overconfident, I just find it adorable that anyone like that still exists in, paraphrasing your words here, the world we live in nowadays. Not that I recommend being negative 24/7 or anything.

I'll be sticking to Fox. But if there's a side Project M tournament, I could pull out anyone. However, out of all of the already released characters, most likely I would roll with either Mario, Toon Link, Ganondorf, Fox, Ness, or Lucas... specifically Mario, Fox, Ness, or Lucas (since I'm still far from used to Toon Link or Ganondorf).

Either that or go play seriously and either play as ness, sheik, or dk (whom I'm thinking of picking up)

If it wasn't for Ness' turrible recovery, I'd roll with him all day, every day.

Learn wavedashing, wavelanding, a V-landing/dodging with Luigi first, specifically on say Corneria or Yoshi's Island (Melee) on the slope.

L-cancelling you just learn by rhythm once you get "the beat." Something similar also happens with dash dancing.

After that, you learned the 3 big ones. All that's left is short hop laser cancels (SHFL; if two for Fox, it is a SHDL), various cancels (like the double jump cancel for Ness and I think Yoshi), edge grab/attack timing, how to use your DI to really confuse your opponent on offense and defense, how to (and when to) tech, meteor cancels, and a few other character specific techniques that almost always aren't actually that hard.

Oh, and crouch cancelling (just click down), and how to use it. In fact, I think I just taught you most of it, other than what percentages it stops working at.
