Still, they where Rare IPs. And Rare actually did make Diddy Kong Racing for DS.

"The game was originally developed as Diddy Kong Pilot, in which it serve as a sequel to Diddy Kong Racing. The only known playable characters were Diddy Kong, Donkey Kong, Dixie Kong, Cranky Kong, a new Kong named Redneck Kong, Kritter, Candy Kong and King K. Rool"

Hahahaha, I looked up Banjo Pilot on wiki, and this was in the info about the game.
I'm pretty sure some random person wrote that in there, because that can't be true.

Oh yes, and speaking of which.

How does it feel that Sonic Lost World is going to be published by Nintendo (at least in PAL regions)? Quite an odd thing when you think about it considering the whole "Nintendon't" thing in the past.

Diddy Kong Pilot has a playable beta version ROM out there. I played it, it's quite smooth for what it's worth. It also originally had Mario charaters in it. Just look at it yourself:

Your "witty remark" probably would've worked better if you didn't go full ****** and try to say the quote twice int he same post. XD
Your "witty remark" would have worked better if you weren't being a demeaning idiot. Seriously, stop talking down to me. Just because your opinion is different than mine doesn't mean you have a right to talk to me like I'm some freaking idiot. Also, using the word "******" as an insult shows how immature you are.
Anyways, I'm just going to leave these 3 quotes here. Take whatever over "mad ramblings" of yours that you're so good at to the other topic.
I don't understand why saying "Pac-Man is the most recognizable character in all of gaming" is mad ramblings. It is a fact, and there is proof of it. In fact, calling it "mad ramblings" is idiotic.
And those are my thoughts. NEXT TOPIC~! =D
I could say the same thing about any and all Star Fox characters, Captain Falcon, and Mr. G&W these days. It doesn't mean they can't be in smash. None of those characters have done anything in about a decade, sans re-releases and Smash Bros.
Has THQ done anything else lately? Anything of significance?
And this ladies and gentlemen is the person talking down to me failing right on cue!

Not surprising at all since the day they've been putting Sonic games on Ninty consoles.

I'm 90% sure that pic is of some kind of energy attack. Possibly it's what the Super Scope shot looks like now.

He's a member just like anyone else. That's all.

Pretty much. I want more curveballs. More meltdowns.
Curveballs, you say? I want Toad, Meowth, Tingle, Impa, Duck Hunt Dog, Starfy, Pac-Man, Simon Belmont, and Captain N. :awesome:

The man said curveballs, not wild pitches! :chuckle:

(I keed, I keed)

But for realsies, Starfy, Pac-Man, and Simon Belmont would all make excellent playable characters in Smash Bros. IMO.

Heck, if you don't think Simon Belmont wouldn't be a great playable Smash Bros. character, then your opinion is WRONGGGGG!!!!!

Asking a simple legitimate question about a company that's rarely ever brought up or talked about is a fail? Uh...Okay, if you say so. How's life on Mars, by the way?

Seriously, you say I'm talking down to you despite my joking demeanor, but you constantly talk down to absolutely anyone who thinks differently than you. You're being kind of a hypocrite. Do you enjoy stroking your own **** that much? -.o'

Eh, whatever. Different strokes for different folks. :3

Not really. Then again, when Brawl came out and people were talking about "Mario vs Sonic", I was like "...What? Since when do those two have anything to do with each other? Huh? What do you mean there's a rivalry? Sonic has games on Nintendo systems now!"

I had never even heard of the term "console wars" until the PSWii60 era because no one ever argued about stuff like that in any of the many areas I moved around to as a kid. That, and my family and I have a tradition of buying ALL consoles for a generation so we can play everything. Plus, Mario, Sonic and Megaman were basically my first gateways to gaming and my childhood heroes. (My second gateways were Mortal Kombat, Doom, Contra, Beyond the Beyond and Final Fantasy 7)

So yeah, I'm a veeeery odd case in the sense that I never saw any kind of rivalry between Sega and Nintendo. When Sonic started getting games on Nintendo systems, it was surprising but nothing that made my heart stop. lol

I didn't hear of the phrase "Sega does what Nintendon't" until 2006...What an ironic year to learn of such a phrase. ¦D

Starfy and Toad are all I can stomach from that list. There is a difference between curveballs and hairballs.

Guys, it's a Wii Fit Trainer move, likely relating to the Sun Salute yoga pose. Poses are exactly the same. There is no mystery other than which move this is of her's.

Meowth would be cool in my books. Also, it's definitely an attack she's using.

It is called "retaliation."
Not really. Then again, when Brawl came out and people were talking about "Mario vs Sonic", I was like "...What? Since when do those two have anything to do with each other? Huh? What do you mean there's a rivalry? Sonic has games on Nintendo systems now!"
It's called "historical significance." People don't only think about what is the state of things NOW but what was the state of things. That's why we have history classes, why we talk about the past (which I've been doing a lot lately in this thread), and why all but one (Roy) of the 46/47 playable smash bros. characters were in existence before Smash Bros. came out.

And your lack of console wars knowledge is weird. I was around when the first "real" console war happened between the Game Boy and the Game Gear, and the NES/SNES and the Genesis/Mass Driver, and that stuff was real, as well as hardcore. Then there was the PS1/Saturn (not really)/N64 rivalry. And lastly, Sony's rivalry with SEGA ended in them straight up paying developers not to show their games for E3 or any events (something Microsoft emulated on them this year), which effectively helped murder the great and under-appreciated SEGA Dreamcast.

Smash Bros. has always honored and celebrate gaming history (mostly Nintendo gaming history, due to legality and such), including some of the biggest games ever and some game you'll rarely hear about, both new gaming history as well as old, and everything in between. That establishment, along with the fact Pac-Man is the most iconic character in video games (at least not in smash), that Pac-Man had a huge impact on Nintendo (Shigeru Miyamoto, aka GOD states Pac-Man is by far his favorite character), and that Pac-Man has had a profound impact on gaming in 70's, which setup things to be golden in the 80's.

What's wrong with Meowth? (don't take that as a joke just because of the hairball thing, it's a serious question)
Because Meowth is only a prominent character in the TV Show and there are many other Pokemon of equal or greater importance that would make better fighters in SSB.

Jigglypuff only got in at the time because there were far less Pokemon back then and she was probably the funniest candidate for a joke character.

This is like the first time a Sonic game is published by Nintendo, unless you count the Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Game series.
Kind of hard to believe.....
Any last shred of the 90's console wars is just...gone.

First, Sega went multiplatform, including Nintendo systems.
Then, Mario and Sonic had their Olympic Games.
Then, Sonic was in Smash Bros.
Now, (after a few more Olympics), Nintendo is actually publishing a Sonic game.

Oh, to have the power to go back in time and raise chaos by showing the warring fans the future....:troll:

You mention the show in a bad light, yet Sakurai just last month discussed how the show is actually important to character decision.

Honestly, I would take Meowth over Jigglypuff any day. He has had constant appearances in the anime, way more than Jigglypuff.
He seems like he would be a mix of Metaknight and Diddy Kong. small and nimble with slashy (this should totally be a word) multiple hit claw attacks.

Star isn't too fond of anyone on that list but those two characters.

As for Meowth, while Meowth could be unique as a worthy addition in my eyes, there are a lot better options. Plus, unlike a lot of characters, there's a huge potential for Meowth to not live up to that potential, and feel like a "same ole', same ole'" kind of character. Basically, like most newcomers in Street Fighter III!!! :chuckle:

Funny, I always hated History class. Sure it was easy, but it was boring as hell. XD

Don't like or care much about retro things either if it isn't something I experienced back in that time.

Anyway, if you had actually read the rest of my post, it isn't weird at all that I has never heard of console wars. I lived in areas where people didn't care about such a thing and did the smart and logical thing: Play on everything instead of limiting yourself.

That, and they were much more interested in cartoons and the new and peculiar thing known as Anime than "This console is better than that console!".

I was a kid. I didn't care who makes the games I played or what systems they were on. I just cared that they would be fun to play and have things I liked.

That honestly hasn't changed now, which has led me to enjoy a lot of things that, sadly, other people just can't enjoy the same way.

So yeah, I see no issue with my method of gaming experiences. :3

While it does show that the Pokemon media does have influence, that's still not exactly enough to guarantee a slot for a new character. Remember, regardless of the situation, a character still has to go through the 4 criteria in order to see if an inclusion is worth it or not.

(Also I really hate the idea of Genesect)

Pikachu and Jigglypuff were picked due to their huge popularity in the anime at the time. Mewtwo and Pichu were dealt with similarly, Mewtwo because of his movie, Pichu because it was a popular Gen 2 Pokemon that would be easy to include. Lucario was considered because of his movie that was coming out/had come out.

Well aware of that.
However, using "only prominent in the anime" as a reason against Meowth is not wise.

Unless he pulls another WFT, anyway. Then the "4 criteria" can go **** themselves in the ass.

Seriously, am I the only one expecting another completely random character like that? It probably won't even be revealed. It'll be a secret and turn out to be the final character we have to unlock. XD

Wait for Nintendo to buy out SEGA; then things will get really crazy, and all semblances of that will die!

Or imagine if Sony or Nintendo went other, and the other bought the other one out! Now that would be nuts!!! Then all of the 90's rivalries would truly die! ;)

I believe Meowth was planned for Melee or 64 (maybe both) and I assume it would be planned for similar reasons. Meowth is comedic character too, he would've made a good choice.

Meowth as an adition would make a nice reference to the Pokemon anime, which is also a reason that made Jigglypuff a good choice for a joke character, and they also referenced the anime with the Star K.O's.

It's not that they're "smart or logical"
Very very few gamers can afford the time and money to purchase and play both consoles.
Most people were (and are) financially subjected to purchasing one gaming console per generation

I like most of the Pokemon choices. Pichu, Mewtwo, Zoroark, Genesect, Newtwo, Meowth, Deoxys, Gardevior, New PT, ect. Too bad I have a feeliing Mewtwo may be the only Pokemon added this time around. And, we may very well have Lucario/PT cut.

I heard Meowth was planned for 64 along side Pikachu and Jigglypuff (not sure if true though). I haven't watched in a good minute, but i do know Meowth is just as much as popular character as Pikachu. Jigglypuff has fell way off, hopefully this fairy type mumbo jumbo will raise popularity as well as provide fresh material for a move-set overhaul. She should definitely have more sound based moves

Pichu was made as a joke character of course.
