Cranky Kong is the original Donkey Kong that fought Mario. The Donkey Kong from DKC, also the current Donkey Kong, is DK Jr. all grown up. That's why Cranky Kong in the DKC games always talks about how much better he was than Donkey Kong back in his day.

Modern DK = Cranky Kong's grandson
DK Jr. = Classic DK's son

This is why I never want to develop a video game. Some where in a forum far away people will be picking at every little detail. If I accidentally messed up the time-line with one character I will be ****ed. I feel bad for these developers.

Well Nintendo have never been good with their continuities in nearly all of their games. Hell just look at how much of a cluster **** the Zelda Timeline is.

I can see it you'd have upgraded powers, but you'd start off with your fireball as your only weapon.

Toad would be your Q that sells you new powers or provides you with new powers as you progress. Peach and Daisy would be Bond Girls. Rosalina could be M. Donkey Kong, Wario, and Bowser would be Bond Villains. Yoshi could turn on your mid way through.

It's a multiverse of Marios. Reminds me of this:

I actually think that the Mario series makes a lot more sense if you divide most of the sub-series and games into their own universes.

It just sounds like Miyamoto is saying Mario is known to have more of a physical nature, so making him a doctor as another profession seems out of place for Mario.

Future Link and Young Link too were given different slots in Melee and they are the same person as well, So Doc and Mario don't have to be any different.

Don't forget the timeline split in OOT. Young Link was from MM and one timeline. Adult Link is from the future version so they were separated in-series anyway. Also, notably, the MM timeline goes into Twilight Princess, so technically Young Link would become TP Link in Brawl, and Adult Link would become Toon Link in Brawl too, timeline-wise anyway. Awkward, no?

And I still can't interpret that way. Not after Melee and after what he said.

And they're all different "characters", but some might be the person. They're not synonyms at all.
