Also, how would you explain porn to an alien? I'd say it's a human reproduction tutorial but that wouldn't even be close to accurate.
I say really bizarre entertainment involving the groin region and buttock regions.

You guys think there will be another smash bros after this?
Absolutely. It's a money-maker for Nintendo. Remember when they wanted to make a sequel to Melee and considering going ahead without Sakurai, since he said before he wasn't interested in making another, making more like a Melee 2.0 rather than a brand new game? They might push for this in the future even if Sakurai does decide to finally step away from the franchise.

Also the irony of people begging for a Melee 2.0 instead of a new game after Brawl came out is what makes this priceless n_n

Really, Sakurai's statement about third-party characters makes it sound like he only picks legendary video game characters. I can't really think of any characters from Namco I would think of as legendary, and the closest thing to that is Pac-Man, whose heyday was the 1980's (though some people here have nostalgia for the Pac-Man World series released during 1990's).

It's a debunk for the rumor more so then the Namco character, the one with use getting Mii, Little Mac, and Pac-man. If a Namco character wasn't planned now, that tells us the latter half of the rumor is false.
Sakurai said "no" to "special priority," which doesn't mean anything. Pac-Man's historic status will still keep him considered, regardless of how true the previous prophet's words are. All 3 of the 3rd party characters thus far have been big names in gaming, and none of them compare to how well-known Pac-Man is.

But regardless, the always ill-fated Lloyd and *insert random Namco Bandai character here* hype should largely die now. Thank God.

Yep, there'll be another Smash. It's a hugely popular game, and it clearly is something that gets people to even purchase their system at all... I certainly wouldn't be touching the Wii U without Smash Bros.

I think the question is really whether or not Sakurai will be a part of it... and, while he certainly pioneered this fantastic series, I think the games would do just fine being directed by a group of game designers.

Edit: Yeah, this thread is crazy. I just go to the most recent page and see if the topic is interesting.

Oh, he did?

Well, I hate to tell you guys I told you so, but I TOLD you so. I'd been saying this for months now... That having 2 games developed simultaneously would hinder the overall quality and content of both games. But most of you argued that, with Namco on board they had a large enough team to handle it no prob.

See, sometimes I know what I'm talking about. I only PRETEND to act stupid for ****s and giggles.
Yeah having a larger team doesn't always mean less problems/a smoother development process for a game

Having more people on board to help is nice, but you gotta have that synergy as well to really get **** done

It seems like Sakurai is holding all characters to high standards.
I highly doubt Lloyd has any chance of competing with a character like Pac-man, who has that legacy.

Pac-man being the least awful? Chrono, stop pulling my leg.
The Tales characters look like FE character derivatives, and Tekken is not really a franchise associated with Nintendo. Also, no one from Tales or Tekken is iconic or popular as Snake, Sonic, or Mega Man. Really the closest one to those three is probably Pac-Man.

I would say the only other third-party character left that is up there with popularity and iconicness that has not yet been a playable character in Smash Bros. is probably Cloud, and he has an even weaker connection to Nintendo consoles than even Snake.

Well the assumption that Sakurai only chooses legendary third parties isn't that far off. Seeing as we had Solid Snake and Sonic in the last game. Now we have Mega Man. Pac-Man is easily up there if this is the case.

Pac-Man, not legendary?
O...k...then.
I'd honestly say Pac-Man is more legendary than Mega Man, and this is coming from someone that doesn't really care for either franchise.
(In other words, a non-biased opinion due to not being a Mega Man fan or a Pac-Man fan)
And even if it's a stretch, I'd even say Pac-Man is more legendary than Sonic, and I am a fan of the Sonic franchise.

As John said, all it confirms is that Namco isn't getting special treatment solely because they are working on the game. Nowhere does it say that they aren't getting a character like Pac-Man.
And given Sakurai's description on what he's looking for in a guest character, Pac-Man is the only Namco character that fits.

Bomberman would make a wonderful 3rd party character

It seems that Sakurai might be interested in Pac-Man when the idea got planted into his mind during the interview. Notice he didn't go *laughs* when Pac-Man was suggested. He went ahead and asked what Pac-Man's Final Smash would be like.
