^^^^^^^^^^^^ I agree with you GUURRRLLLLL... mostly because I'm a sucker for all things tournaments, title eliminators, and title unifications!
What about a 16-bit Mega Man-styled game ala Mega Man 7?
Mega Man 7 is underrated, especially in regards to its' INCREDIBLY AMAZING OPENING STAGE THEME!!! (which was the first hacked song I put in Project M... on the SSE Jungle stage, mind you) No really, if you don't LOVE THAT SONG AND WANT TO KICK SMASH TO IT, YOU SUCCCKKKK!!!

While on the topic of Mega Man 7, I loved the hidden areas and stuff. I wish more Mega Man games had more non-linear hidden stuff. Heck, I wouldn't mind Mega Man go full Metroidvania open-world-ish for a game, or even a new (sub?) franchise.

But for realsies, a full super duper Super HD Turbo HD Remix (CURSE YOU STREET FIGHTER!!!) 2D Mega Man game (graphically) would be nice. It could have a cool mix of new awesome graphics, loads of crap happening in the background, and yet that old gritty, unique, and environment/Robot Master-centered atmosphere.
What about an 8-bit mega man styled game, but with better 2D graphics
I'd love it. Actually, I'd love just about ANYTHING Mega Man at this point.

I want another Metal Slug game, but that isn't going to happen anytime soon.
In fact, there are a lot of sequels I want. WHY MUST THEY BE DREAMS!!!? :grrr:

Im pretty new here but i thought i would express my thoughts on the next Smash Bros if thats alright with everyone. Well im hoping Link will retain his Twilight Princess appearance and have his character model based off the Zelda Wii U demo the showed in E3 2011. As for newcomers, im hoping for ones people will have probably already mentioned here, but i'll go ahead and mention them anyways which are King K.rool, Shulk, Little Mac, Takamaru, Issac or Mathiew, Isa Joe, Black Shadow or Deathborn, Samurai Goroh and Knuckle Joe.

I also anticipate that they'll end up replacing Pokemon Trainer with the Johto representative since the last one was based off the trainer from Firered/Leafgreen and with the recent remakes of Gold and Silver they'll probably want to replace that trainer with a new one based on the new remakes. However, i hope they end up keeping both, but that's unlikely due to the fact so many people hate the idea of having many playable Pokemon characters...Im also hearing a lot of requests to add another Metriod character and many people tend to have arguments about both Ridley and Dark Samus. Well how about they add either Adam Malkovich or Anthony Higgs? Before someone starts raging at me, yes, i know they are unlikely to be added, but i think someone like Anthony would make an interesting playable character. Though that's just an idea i wanted to put out there. As for Earthbound i'd like to see Flint added in the game since i remember how there were quite a few people who wanted to see him in Brawl. I remember seeing movesets for him in videos years ago and i think he would be a nice fit in the smash universe. Though i have no idea what his odds would be for him to be included in the new game. Lastly, i would really love to see Sonic return in the next smash bros and im afraid he might not come back, but due to recent rumors about him being included again im keeping my hopes up. Sonic was my main character in Brawl and i loved to play as him. Seeing him return would really put a smile in my face, so i hope i see him return.

First off, welcome to Smashboards

on to Smash stuff
In smash bros., link is usually based off his last appearance in zelda, which is evident in melee ( Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask), and brawl (Twilight Princess/Wind Waker), so therefore it's more likely he is going to be based off Skyward Sword (I do like his twilight princess look better)

As for your characters

K. Rool is Very likely
Shulk is likely
Little Mac is very likely
Takamaru is very likely
Isaac is likely (he'll probably get in over matthew do to being the face of the franchise)
Isa Joe is unlikely (do to sin and punishment being a small franchise, plus saki is more known)
Black Shadow/Deathborn/Samurai Goroh is unlikely (do to nintendo hating the f-zero franchise)
Knuckle Joe is unlikely (because Sakurai is humble about his franchise, and do to return to dreamland Bandana Dee is considered to be most likely for the forth kirby, but still more likely we don't get a kirby character

I also anticipate that they'll end up replacing Pokemon Trainer with the Johto representative since the last one was based off the trainer from Firered/Leafgreen and with the recent remakes of Gold and Silver they'll probably want to replace that trainer with a new one based on the new remakes. Well, most likely red will stay for ssb4, do to him having more popular pokemon and him being the most reoccuring trainer

Ridley is probably going to get him do to him being the main antagonist of the franchise, and his huge popularity, Dark Samus is the main villain of the prime trilogy as well so

Don't get your hopes up for another earthbound character

With 3 sonic exclusives, I say his chances look pretty good

Why 3 on 3=??? Like seriously, at least do 8 on 8. Mario could easily do 11 on 11 anyways.
Because most pick-up basketball is either 3 on 3 or 5 on 5

Samurai Goroh? K. Rool? Takamaru? My man :shades:

Can't agree with you on the Pokemon Trainer part though, there really isn't any need at all to "upgrade" or replace the Pokemon he already has. He could lose the whole shared health aspect though

Welcome to the forums btw

That dude has some good stuff. Maybe there is hope that these newcomers won't be too bad. (for SWF and SSB4 :troll:)
I really imagine Little Mac playing like a mini Balrong/Dudley.

ANTHONY HIGGS! YES! Check out the support thread I made for him

Welcome to the forums btw man!

Yes, K.Rool, Takamaru and Isaac are all great choices. Am rooting for them to. And like Metal, I agree that the Pokémon Trainer should keep the same Pokémon. I just like Charizard too much. The stamina system just needs to be removed. And perhaps Down B shouldn't let you switch Pokémon no more.

Anyways, enjoy your stay around here. ;)

Here is some Smash 4 related news:

The TEKKEN Project support team posted on the Twitter page of TEKKEN producer Katsuhiro Harada (who is helping Sakurai on the next Super Smash Bros.) saying that Mr. Harada has been missing from office a week ago and they are searching for him. People are arguing whether he is actually missing or this is just a publicity stunt (I'm voting for the latter since it sounds weird that they first posted this news on his Twiiter page rather than an official Namco Bandai Games website/response.) What do you think?

I fear that some people will see filthy/joke threads like Diddy's Higgs one, in a state of confusion over who they feel they should support, and see that thread's existence as validation for a MISGUIDED BELIEF.

Like if you know the history behind why that thread exists, you know it's just there because Diddy is a weirdhole, not because anyone actually believes Anthony is a good or reasonable choice.

Very likely some stunt or indicating that he is working on something else. No way would they reveal that someone was missing over Twitter only.

I hope to God it's him helping out on Smash 4.

Just got my work schedule for next week and I find out that I don't have work this Tuesday. This means I can watch the E3 Nintendo Direct without being interrupted by anything.

He's alright. An insider on GAF confirmed he's ok, and a subsequent tweet from the team confirmed he's been logged into Steam everyday this week. He just has not shown up for work.

I have played the series, and it is an underrated series that is definitely worthy of any Mega Man fans' time. However, I don't think it's nearly the same quality as the classic Mega Man original franchise. I wish someone would make a Mega Man game with the original blue bomber in an expansive open world setting (say the city they're always in), with mostly the same controls (maybe a few added moves), lots of side stuff to do, and freaking lots of Robot Masters (8 doesn't cut it homie). That would be a sweet game.
What do you think?
I think regardless of what it is, he better not have been kidnapped. And if he had, it best have been by Blade and or Moon, so that I can replace Sakurai! :troll:

America's attempts at a Smash like game yielded Punch Time Explosion and PS All Stars. =S
It's actually times like these that show a gigantic difference in developer attitudes between American and Japanese companies. The only exception in this regard is the Skullgirls team. Reminds me of this ironic picture:

^^^^^^^^^ Snake was made in Japan, and isn't the character on the right made by a Western developer=???

I'm sorry, I didn't know Deep Silver and Sony were AMERICAN!!! And if they, they aren't even wearing a flag on their heads like TRUE AMERICANS!!!
You're about 4 days late to that party smash brothah! ;) :p :awesome: But still, it is good news nonetheless!!! :pimp:

That's the point of the picture. It's jabbing at stereotypes. The funny thing about Filia is that her art style is greatly influenced by 1920's-1940's animation. By this extent, Osamu Tezuka, aka the God of Manga, was greatly influenced by Disney's work which you can see in a lot of his works such as Astro Boy and the untimely ended Phoenix.

Still, this reminds me of something I was talking to a coworker about yesterday. How many Western developers make indepth games/mechanics outside of the FPS, WRPG, and arguably the sports genres? It often seems like I see similar mechanics in a Western game that a Japanese game already made in more depth.

Yeah, both tend to go hand and hand with one another, and inspire one another. So gamers/anime/manga/comic book fans acting like one is isolated from another are being stupid.

Well there's several, but most of them aren't exactly huge developers. Also, Naughty Dogs, Rockstar, and Valve. And again, several indie developers. I think the huge amount of Western Indie Developers compared to Eastern Indie Developers is a bit odd, and I think it definitely gives the former a definite "Edge."

I should be studying for a test next Thursday but after almost six days of preparing presentations, waking up too early and getting two insomniac episodes close to one another I do not have the energy to do more than eat chili nuts and watch speedrunslive

Hopefully the imminent Path of Exile patch will liven things up. And hopefully I will somehow manage to get 20 hours of sleep in one night. Ugh, I could be at the end of the course party with free beer right now, but there are no cute girls in this course anyw-

Wait, this isn't my blog. well I guess it is now.

Heh, some douche on /v/ is posting the "Calamity" rumor again but is interspersing the twist of The Last of Us right in the middle of the description. That place truly is the id of gaming.

Damn that game seems good.

Eh, I'll probably borrow my girlfriend's PS3, since she's been hyped for that.

She'll probably let me borrow it sooner rather than later since she got a 3DS yesterday, and is hooked on White 2 (that racist).

And really, everyone is influenced by something, with the influences sometimes being more obvious, but still distinct in its own right. Listen to both Bjork's works and then listen to the Ghost in the Shell soundtrack. The latter was definitely influenced by the former. It got to the point where GITS' "Where does the ocean go?" sounds an awful lot like Bjork's "Hyperballad".

I think the difference in indie numbers may have to do with cultural differences. From what we see, both sides of the ocean have money hungry developers, but it always seems that developers like EA and Activision are more in it for the money and not so much the art. This position could easily turn off aspiring developers who then decide to work their way from scraps to make viable developer teams on their own terms (hence Skullgirls). I can't say anything on the Japanese side of things though.

That is pretty much what I'm getting at. You don't see a Western developer NOT influenced by Mario. Coincidentally, you see many Eastern developers influenced by Hollywood or by Western music (like rock and roll or many Western classical musicians).

I agree the sheer greed of Activision and EA compared to most Japanese developers (although Capcom has their share of failed greed, too) has to do with it. However, I think the more non-conformist attitude of the West is a bit of a shining light here.

Whereas I'm sure about an equal share of the Japanese video game companies are up to as many illegal things as Western developers (if not more, due to groups like the Yakuza being somewhat tolerated in Japan), Westerners are often times less compliant due to their non-conformist attitudes, and thus they go off and do their own thing. On top of that, there's the whole "American Dream" thing, and a part of that is a lot of people want to be their own boss, or do things their own way. I'm sure there's things like that in the East, but I doubt it is as prevalent. (However, a recent case would be Keiji Inafune, and about 6 years ago, the fired Clover Studios department of Capcom formed Platinum Games, which has been just as incredible as Clover Studios.)

Of course, another factor is obviously that Sony and Nintendo are easily the two biggest Japanese video game companies, and those two companies are VERY LOYAL to their thousands of employees, as is much of the Japanese gaming community.

So yeah, this isn't an indictment of one side or another, but rather, my observations. Also, the larger population of viable video game producers in the West (with many developers in Canada, America, the UK, and occasionally other parts of the Western world) compared to the East (where it's generally mostly Japan and South Korea) is a big factor in that as well.
