Don't know if this is worth mentioning, but Smash Bros. 64 is now a reward for NA Club Nintendo members.

Isn't there usually some cross-promotion between VC Club Nintendo rewards and more recent releases? Like, was the Super Mario Kart reward being promoted with Mario Kart 7 or something?

Just straw-grasping here.
Don't think so.

I can see for Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 7 but that's the only time I've seen a promotion from this (I've been keeping a VERY good eye on the VC rewards). One reason I don't believe they're promoting something is in the past they had both Kirby's Dream Land and Kirby Super Star while Kirby's Dream Collection has both of those games (kinda curious why they did that).

I always thought Quote would be a fun character. Not that I think it'll happen anytime soon, but hey, Nicalis is milking every last bit of money they can out of that game on Nintendo platforms, so their relationship can't be anything but good.

Dat Machine Gun.
Oh, the Swag-cine Gun- at Level 3, hover the **** outta any situation!~

But seriously, I've always found his Rocket Launcher to be extremely awesome.

Oh, cool... *shrugs*

As exciting as that sounds, I doubt we'll get anything Sm4sh related from them. The reason why is Namco Bandai isn't publishing the game (aka, not their property), they're only helping. I'm only expecting Sm4sh related new from Nintendo and/or Sakurai as they are truly the ones working on the game.
This. If SAKURAI said it, then hell yeah, my heart would beat faster.

Skyward Sword visuals=Skyward Sword sequel.I hhhhaaaaaatttttttteeeeeddddd Skyward Sword, such an overrated piece of junk with gimmicky controls and no replay value, and it's getting a sequel with a Grand Theft Auto sized budget?:mad:If this is true, then it looks like I'll be skipping a Zelda game for the first time.Give me a SS or/and TP sequel Nintendo, then we're talking.:smirk:

Update:After reading on,this doesn't sound true. It's more of an average fan's dream than something Nintendo would announce. And everyone knows how secretive they are and even though game stores might not be so tightly lipped, there's no reason for them to know this information at this moment in time.Phew!:pimp:

Keep in mind it's just a rumor, though a plausible one. Plus, all they said is it would have the same visual style as SS, not that it would have the exact same style of gameplay or anything. And really, the art style isn't as important as other factors. I prefer the Oot, TP, or SS art style compared to WW, but WW is still a great game.

Here, this article has more details: http://wiiudaily.com/2012/09/wii-u-zelda-game-coming-2014/

Honestly, from the description here, it doesn't sound like it will be that similar to Skyward Sword other than in visuals, which will be, "In full HD with much improved quality compared to what we saw on the Wii."

I hhhhaaaaaatttttttteeeeeddddd Skyward Sword... Give me a SS sequel Nintendo,then we're talking.:smirk:
Wat?

Nintendo didn't announce this, neither did a game store. Apparently it was leaked from a Nintendo employee who previous leaked Wii U achievements and the details about the Miiverse.

Anyway, even if this turns out to be fake, the Zelda characters would most likely be implemented in Smash 4 with SS visuals, with Ganondorf and Sheik most likely getting SS-style designs. Even if Zelda Wii U used a different style, it seems to be too early to base the Smash 4 designs on them, though I could end up being wrong. Unless Zelda Wii U also uses SS-style designs, then it doesn't really matter.

I loved Skyward Sword lol. And in my view the art style was one of the best choices. It really helped capture the emotion and atmosphere in the game. It also gave that sense this is "The Beginning".

I'm not putting too much stock in that rumor, but I will say that the idea of a HD TP style had grown on me, even though Nintendo said that the Wii U Zelda demo wasn't necessarily reflective of what the new game would look like. So the idea of an SS approach bums me out just a bit, even though I loved SS to death.

Tyrogue being a self centered douche again? jeez, would you evolve already!? I recommend Hitmonchan.

everything that was said in the leak was to my expectations, if not more so.
I suspected many things about the Wii U Zelda. the one thing i suspected was that it will be the Wii U's Mario Galaxy. this means that the Zelda HD will utilize the full potential of the reasoning behind all the tools provided. i also suspected Zelda HD would be 1080p (sure sucks for Pikmin 3, huh?), that it would be very expensive and that it would have a bunch of peoples, more than ever. everything else i didn't really have thoughts on...
unfortunately, i didn't share my thoughts before, but why would you care anyways? i didn't have any info, just my intuition.

i didn't expect the skyward sword art style, i expected more from the tech demo. a glossy, high texture, high polygon count, awesome twilight princess sequel... like, it comes after twilight princess... like, it's the twilight link but even more mature... 21 yrs old... and Midna, in princess form comes back... but that was just, y'know, speculation... and a pipe dream.

I'm also expecting the Skyward Sword control scheme to return, perfected... but don't take my word for it.

Lol, I didn't notice your ninja post. That was directed at people entertaining the idea a bit too much, btw.

Skyward Sword is overrated? I haven't heard a single good thing about the game since it came out

Not sure if this has been brought up before... But I was thinking...

In Brawl, there were many characters who could attack after an UP+B
(Snake, Sonic, Pit, to name a few).

Do you think it's a good idea to allow ALL characters to attack after an UP+B? Think of how much the metagame would change... Allowing for more anti-edgeguard capabilities (or edgeguard punishers). Dunno... Just had this idea, but it's been probably discussed alread. XD

I think everything about the leak sounds great. There was no way to improve Skyward Sword except maybe in character development, but that was still good too. I'd play it again if i didnt have so many new games to play...

@shinhed-echi: Eh, not really. Some character have powerful Up B moves already, so it could be bad for balancing purposes. Plus it feels tacked on.

I'd rather see characters get simple chaining of attacks. Marth's chaining was so satisfying when done right.

I've been suggesting this for a long time. We already see it with Lucario's magic series in Project M. Why not go Tekken it up? The series needs more motivation to fight on the ground. Just include smaller shields to angle them and the game changes dramatically while still keeping the core of Smash intact. With that being said, I'm wondering if foxtrotting would become a super important aspect of Smash footsies.

One thing I've found a bit annoying was that there was no direct flow in the characters' attacks outside of AAA. I can't picture characters like Little Mac and Krystal feeling completely right without strings to use.

@shinhed
No helpless state on all Up B's is an interesting idea. I think it depends on how the game will end up playing. I think it would be interesting to see if the helpless state triggered only on aerial Up B's or possibly on ground Up B's.

So long as they can't do any specials after their UP-B, that idea MIGHT work. Otherwise, recovery would become effectively infinite for everyone.

Or to make it more simplistic, they can only use their Up B once before landing. This way, combo potential is retained.

I approve of this idea. In almost all of my movesets, you'll see this mechanic with their (B)^s.

that is such an awful idea for so many reasons and must have been discussed before. a character should ALWAYS have their recovery put them in special fall.

Tell that to sonic, snake, pit and ROB. >.>

I don't think it's an idea without merit but i'd want to trial it first with a few characters. Imagine MK, a character whereby all specials can be used to recover. He would have infinite recovery capability that way, compared to the almost infinite but occasionally edge-guardable way he is now.

When Sonic and Snake use their (B)^ moves, they lose their ability to use their (B) moves. So, that same mechanic can be performed with any character.

Some fighters enter a semi-helpless state after using their third jumps. While semi-helpless, the fighter is only able to use his/her standard attacks, meaning that the special moves are disabled until the fighter touches ground.

Even though it says Starfox, Smash Bros, and F-Zero, I'm skeptical over whether it'll be new information or just an "overview" of the series or something, as it is the last issue. At least the Pokemon says 3DS, the others just say the series name. If it does have new information on those series, great!, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

I'm also interested in the Wii U part in the top left corner, but I'm guessing we'll all know everything in there before the magazine comes out anyway.

Either way, sad to see all these Nintendo mags ending. :(

I'm severely bummed about NP. I've been a subscriber forever, and I hoped to perhaps someday write for them (I'm an aspiring game journalist myself).

It is hard to believe a soon to be defunct magazine has any kind of information on, potentially, five unannounced Nintendo titles, let alone Super Smash Bros. This is the same company that has for months refused to release any substantive information regarding their latest console, or any game beyond the mysterious launch window. Knowing how the video game journalism industry tends to regurgitate old information, it will probably be something about Miyamoto's fleeting interest in franchise x, y, and z; or some generic information of the obvious (ie., a new Zelda game is in development for the Wii U).

As for Super Smash Bros, probably whatever information they have to share is what we already know or suspect. If there is new information worth coming to light, we'll probably hear it first Thursday rather than through Nintendo Gamer.

On other sites people that own the issue said it was just a retrospective on the series, nothing new.
