I guess it's one of those things where I have no investment in the character, and just think they wouldn't belong in there before Mega Man, who I more equate to Nintendo by far. It's sort of similar to Snake, but I guess I have much more investment in Snake's character, so that didn't bother me.
Not that it really means much if this rumor turns out to be true. It could happen.

Does anyone have Sakurai's character requirements laying around? This damned man thinks sales = which characters get in the games and I NEEEEEEEED to show him Sakurai's personal criteria so he can shrug it off and continue to be ignorant.
- The character's inclusion must make people want to buy the game. - The character must be unique - The character must fit into the style of Super Smash Bros. - They must contribute to the game balance.
And originating in a video game and being on a Nintendo system ofc.

It's still hilarious that the only example we have of Sakurai stating he looked at sales as part of his decision for a character's inclusion was for a character whose game sold poorly yet made it in anyway.
If only....I love Banjo and Kazooie as much as the next guy, easily some of the best platforming games on the N64, but as long as Microsoft owns their soul odds aren't good.

If anything it seems shallow and desprate imo...or just plain ********...to add these sorta chars before Rank 1 or 2 chars because they could be more difficult to balance/implement...or straight up..

I definitely agree with you and would rather have any of those characters over Bayonetta, but realistically it is a good move for Nintendo to put her in. She is a female "bad ass" character that is meant to be eye candy for the "hardcore" audience. Brawl had ZSS, but this is a step further since she is from a 3rd party M rated game. This also might have the bonus of warming up Nintendo fans to the character just in time for Bayonetta 2. Like I said I'd really rather her not be here, but her inclusion is very likely imo and is a smart move on Ninty's part.

Personally I think Sonic is a given and I expect Megaman to be there too. As much as I would love PW, Megaman just makes more sense for a Capcom rep. All I was saying was that Bayonetta, while not a character that is exactly fitting in the smash universe and who certainly isn't my first choice, still has good odds because she makes sense from a business standpoint.

Also i think Sonic is a given i like him even though i didnt be him much he most probly the most Nintendo feel like char even though he is still Sega. Megaman could have haf that spot if they still make games for him on recently on nintendo consoles.

Capcom are grubby ********, and Megaman is owned by capcom. Plus they don't seem to like putting him in requested games anymore. (MVC3, SFxT etc)
As for MY picks for the roster, they really need some more F Zero reps. I'd rather have Blood Falcon take the spot of CF's brutal clone instead of Ganon having it again. Just to see another F Zero character. Aside from that they need to stop throwing in so many reps for mario games.. Mario, Luigi and Bowser is enough right there imo. And I won't even get started on the over saturation of pokémon characters present in brawl's roster.

That explains all the **** taste... Of course, /v/ of today wouldn't be much different considering more users today are NeoGAFers, GameFAQ kiddies, and Redditors.
To all the people saying 'x character' deserves the spot more than Bayonetta.
Take a moment to either stop and think what you're saying, or to prove WHY?
"Wahh, I want this character more than her/I don't care for her/this character is more popular"
Is not enough of a reason, otherwise Snake would have never gotten in.
Now while the link I posted IS a rumor, it certainly gives us food for though about the current situation. Since there is ACTUAL solid evidence of Nintendo and SEGA working under some sort of partnership and attempting to build closer bonds, I can agree with all the people who were saying that Sonic would stay and Snake goes. Not because they were right back then, as back then it was Sonic fanboy bias, but as now we have evidence of something in the works.
Likewise, seeing as Bayonetta 2 seems to be one of the bridges that helped build that bond, it also seems fair to say that alongside Sonic, Bayonetta stands a pretty good chance of getting in. Say all you want about Megaman and his popular demand, but atm, it seems Nintendo has been doing business dealings with SEGA, not Capcom, meaning all SEGA character take a prioroty over other 3rd parties, including Namco. Iwata's words about the company working on more crossover titles certainly resonate now.
Imo, with the current view of things that we have, I can see 2-4 SEGA characters getting in as playables, Sonic being one of them, and Bayonetta being another.
Add 2-5 SEGA stages, 2-5 ATs, and a couple SEGA bosses.
PacMan will probably be the Namco 3rd party, and that will be it. You guys gotta understand the implications of having entire libraries of Genesis and Saturn era game become WiiU VC exclusive titles. That's ****ing HUGE. Imo, it seems Nintendo seems to have decided to shoulder a lot of economic burden for them to allow them to stay afloat and continue to make games, thus creating a partnership. Nintendo benefits from the IP, and SEGA can continue to stay alive.
So say what you want about not wanting Bayonetta in, I personally haven't played the game yet, but the deal is, with Bayo2 being Nintendo property, and the Bayo franchise being SEGA's and they two being so close together atm, her inclusion suddenly doesn't seem so far away, and neither does SEGA getting more attention than other 3rd party devs.
So, possible SEGA characters and levels that we can get?

This was on May 10th, before Lost World and the Olympic Games game were announced. This guy hinted at a game made by Sega Sports Japan that would be exclusive to the Wii U, and we’ve recently learned that Mario and Sonic at the Sochi Olympic Winter Games is in the works. Sega Sports Japan made the past games in the Mario and Sonic Olympic Games series, so that could be what 100-Year-Old-Gamer was talking about.
Then, he said this:
“A few Sonic games are currently being made (all of which will be on Wii U)”
This was also on May 10th, and we would later learn that the Sonic games of this year will be release on the Wii U.
Finally, there is what he said on the IGN Boards, which is this:
“As you may know, they don’t want to add to many third-party characters to avoid losing focus, but expect characters like Sonic to return and a few new ones from places like Namco and Platinum as well!”
This guy said that Sonic will be returning and a Platinum Games rep will be in the new Smash Bros game. This rumor article has people saying that Sonic and Bayonetta are going to be in the next Smash Bros, as well.

More SEGA representation outside of Sonic would be sweet.
Like playables: Sonic, Knuckles and Bayonetta
...and then some stages for those franchises along with a Jet Set Radio stage, and a NiGHTS or Super Monkey Ball Stage would be cool. Eggman being a boss, etc...
Having Smash show people that SEGA is more than just Sonic in the form of Trophies, ATs, Stages and Bosses would be sweet. JSR getting in just for the OST alone would be awesome, and stage from that franchise would be fun as ****:
Likewise a Sakura Wars and a Shinobi AT. If there is something SEGA games have is style, and that style would certainly be welcome in Smash.
Well, a partnership between Nintendo and Sega opens possibilities for Sega characters in Smash, but we don't know the full extent of the partnership and how will that affect Smash.
If the partnership does affect Smash, the least that can happen is Sonic returning.
I'm just wondering, since it's hard anyway to implement 3rd parties during development (as we've seen from Sonic's implementation delaying the game and Snake being planned wholly before-hand the development of Brawl, if I'm correct), why is the idea 3rd parties being added seemingly so easy to make "realistic" to happen? I mean I could just say that a Namco-character would seem most realistic at this point, and since not much directed it to be Pac-Man so far (so he could be added late in the development unless he's been implemented already at this point) then I dunno what's with people expecting certain characters to show up right from the start (like lolmoreSEGAandPlatinumcharactersnow)
I could say true suprise would be Megaman and someone else we have not much about thoughts about or aren't really expecting (Could be any 3rd party we thought at this point though.)
Also due this, I'm slightly starting to notice why now Tales Of-rep seems now a possibility (due being mentioned and also Namdai being in the boat at the start with the producers from Tales Of-games).
Just pointing it out, because it weirds me when people speak about 3rd party additions like they'd be a big cakewalk and so easy to do just to appeal them when they never weren't.
