But man, I feel pretty much anxious, low-to-bottom on hype and somewhat pessimistic most of the time. I dunno what to expect (or don't have anything to expect), and I'm kinda afraid I might disappoint myself more than like the reveals. I mean, I have more than enough "underdogs" to support but if not any of them get in, it might testament SSB as popular-well-known-characters only (aside from couple retros).
.
I think a lot of people are gonna have this problem, myself included. I think ya could call it Geno syndrome. When all you're talking to is similarly hardcore game fanatics some obscure gradually begin to seem reasonable, when in reality they have almost no chance. I think that applies to an unfortunately large group of characters that are mentioned a fair bit.

Well I dunno man, about Geno I have to yet see why he's good (I guess he's just popular, memetically or not).

But kinda yeah. It's a big damn shame really, since SSB would do so well introducing and breathing new life on these series that are constantly being overlooked and are in a hiatus because they either aren't profiting well.

Yeah, I feel the same way about Viewtiful Joe

But I mean, honestly, there's still a lot of cool **** that can be put in Smash, stuff that I don't even know about better yet. I think it's an even greater feeling to get something that turns out to be dope than to just get what you've been wanting for so long

Never meant to, just out of range on why he's so liked. I guess one day I shall discover. (-l^l-);

Metal: Sorry, that first part "turns out to be dope"? (-l´l-)?

I hope your day gets better, Manly. I've been having a bit of a bad day, so I can sympathize.

Anyway, on Geno, one thing I have to admit is that it's rather impressive to still see him getting requests, albeit far less than pre-Brawl, to this day, despite all of the obstacles in his way.

There are still requests for him because he didn't suddenly become not awesome overtime, the only affect of time is that he is becoming more obscure and distant, and seemingly more of a never-to-be-used-again doll that will never be dusted off and taken off the shelf for a return. The roster likely being more liberal this around won't make up for the damage of that, in addition that he's not even owned by Nintendo in the first place which means they'd have to go through some hoops for someone who isn't that demanded or fitting (in terms of "deserving" it). Besides, although we are running short of possible newcomers, we can easily get to 50~ without him all the while still selecting some pretty good and fairly fitting choices.

Obviously me, or I wouldn't have said something. And I'm sure plenty of people on the side of being reasonable do not wish to make statements that are simply not true. I don't care to give men rights or whatever, that's not my intention. My only agenda is, you know, making sense.
Sometimes I say controversial things, or extend my opinion into a realm of language somewhat removed from the actuality to make a more poignant point (sometimes things that many people would say aren't true), specifically so I see who the reasonable people are who actually care at all about logic, or rather the ones that actually care to help other people/change their opinions, that are on the opposite side of issues from me. I've met far more livid Liberals and calm Conservatives this way, it's great (implying that conservatives are generally more amicable, less edgy/virulent/satiric, respectable people :3), not to say there aren't a great many good liberals and moderates, moderates are cool guys. One of my greatest friends that I laugh with all the time and make all manner of jokes with and speak with always is my Socialist-Atheist AUTHORITARIAN friend, and there is absolutely no ill-will, pretension, or any other such thing between us, and of my other three best friends, one is a soprano-vegan-track-running-paramedic-obsessed-moderate-liberal-non-denominational and the nicest and most wholesome and least virulent woman I've ever met (who uses soft language :3), and my moderate/libertarian non-denominational and baritone buddy friend, and my french-man who loves video games and doesn't hesitate a second to say how stupid some developers or games or artists or programmers are who is going to art school so he can draw and model everything that doesn't move. Also, semantics are your friend, and so is the Oxford Historical Thesaurus as well as a multivariate of. . . all the writing, Summa Theologica to Beowulf to Forgotten Realms to Economic Calculation In The Socialist Commonwealth and beyond, for language and meaning and everything that has logic and reason.
Often I've said things out of hand because I absolutely love discussing such things, and I am always on the quest to re-evaluate my opinion with the things beyond my intellectual scope to find and form a more powerful and firmly grounded truth.

Thank you for trying to make sense, it's an admirable agenda.

Anybody else here love singing and music? I got into the recent Honors Choir for Illinois :3

I never did get how Geno became so popular for Brawl.

From my understanding, it started as a bandwagon from someone on these forums because someone thought Geno was cool and people started joining in until Geno support became so loud that he seemed like a sure bet.

I propose a change on the entire Nintendo fan base.

THE main magickoopa that is singled out is named "Kamek". Kamek means magickoopa in Japanese. We call him Kamek because of a translation error, but it helps in singleing him out

I propose we call THE main toad, the one from Super Mario 2, etc, "Kinopio" to differentiate him from the rest of his species the same as Kamek is to his

Uhmm, hate to be that guy, but sauce please?

Kamek is impossible to write in Moonspeak. Unless it's Kameku.

Kame means turtle in Japanese, however, I'm not sure how you say magic... I doubt it's Ku, though it could be, moonspeak is funky like that. It could also be a portmandeu.

Still, sauce please?

Edit, looked up Magic in my handy dandy dictionary:

Kijutsu
Majutsu
Mahou
Jujutsu

None of the Kanji shorten as Ku either, only as Ma, Sube, and Nori.

"strange" can be shorterned as Ku, which is what is used for Kijutsu.

Dammit, I was hoping you were right, there goes my arguement or why Ashley is better than Kamek.

Isn't that the case for like every offbeat or retro character being supported?

In Japan, the Magikoopa species and the character Kamek use the same name カメック Kamekku, which suggest that like Toad or Yoshi Magikoopa was supposed to refer to both the species and the specific character but flip between ether depending on the context. But due to a translation hiccup, that's not the case in other languages.

So it's just a made up name? It doesn't mean Magic Koopa or Magic Turtle? Guess it's just the translators taking liberties anf ****ing **** up. Technically Magikoopa are called Kamek.

None have been as ridiculously "strong" as Geno.

I mean Hell, Chrono mentioned that he had requests in Japan too.

EDIT: I think Kamek may have been just a combination of the word "Kame" and "Magic" (somehow corrupted into "Magek" or whatever).
Kind of like how Blastoise in Japan is "Kamex", a corrupted mix of "Kame" and "max" (short for maximum)

Wasn't there a particular user that started a petition to get Geno in Super Smash Bros., and it basically snowballed into this abnormally large fanbase? Super Smash Bros. Fan mentioned something along those lines, I think.

But the deal is that Magic in a general sence is usually referred to as Majutsu in moonspeak (now that I remember Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Zero, I can certainly vouch), they don't even romanize it, Majutsu is already borrowed from the west, as Magik was the original term for it. I dunno this is all too damn confusing.

Argueing over why certain fictional terms end up getting called something confuses me so much. It's like Pra_Mai all over again...

**** it, I'll just quote Psycho whenever Kamek is argued over Ashley.

Yeah, Fatmanonice began the Geno bandwagon, though he had no idea it'd turn into what it did (I imagine). I think the support got WILD after he sent a list of signatures of Geno supporters to Nintendo HQ.

I have to agree that I would love to see Geno get in. He might be highly unlikely, but I would love me some Super Mario RPG representation and including Geno as a character would be awesome to see.

Its pretty much the only reason why he has the remotest of chance in the first place. I think that those requesting him nowadays aren't just doing so because they want to get into a cool bandwagon, but because they like the idea of him getting in.

What would be awesome is for Geno to take over the spot of the most wanted third-party character if Mega Man got confirmed at E3 this year. It probably won't do anything, but it'd be curious to see how it fares this time around.

That's true. In the SSB Wii-U thread, Fatmanonice stated that he sent a mail to Sakurai to get Geno into Smash, but that fell through and as such, never got into Sakurai's hand.

Well, the "Magik" thing could very well be it.
After all, the Mario series tends to borrow non-Japanese words and makes corruptions on others.

But yeah, confusing as all Hell....

Geno taking a very sacred third party slot seems like an abnormally.

"Hey guys, there's a new Super Smash Bros. game! But this time it has the hottest and most awesome characters outside of the realm of Nintendo like Solid Snake, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man, and Geno!"

See what I mean?

To play Devil's Advocate, Geno is essentially a Mario character that has license issues. I don't think he'd be advertised on the same plane as Snake, Sonic, or Mega Man.
He'd probably just be treated as one of Nintendo's old forgotten stars.

It was left in the hands of some security guard, right? I forget. I guess I've been forgetting about that detail, so to those who say "well now that Sakurai knows about Geno's support," I guess that shoots down their whole case.

Not exactly. All it does is shoot down the idea that the signatures will do anything.
We have no idea if Sakurai knows about Geno's fanbase or not, but given that Geno was strangely popular in Japan at the same time, he probably does. We would definitely know if he knows if he had posted the damn results of his poll other than Sonic being the winner.

EDIT: Though at the same time, he probably hasn't posted it because it might have been used to determine some of Smash 4's roster...

Don't hate Geno myself, I guess my beef with him is how such a character who makes Waluigi look like regular Luigi by comparison gets so much support within the Smash fanbase, arguably the last place support for him to appear in another game should be brought.

I can respect the character and his fanbase, but when I see him being brought up so much and in such a serious manner (yes, I do think Shortie's theory is silly) I just can't help but roll my eyes.

Damn...it surely is a warm feeling to see such love and support for a char reguardless of his chances i have never playef any Megaman games but i want Megaman to get in because he deserves it plus i know how happy millions of peepz would be.

Just like us Ridley & K.Rool supporters.

Damn...i never played Super Mario RPG SNES but even im starting to want Geno in.

Hope they release that game on the WiiU VC i will buy it ASAP!

Shortie's theory is especially silly when you factor in the Sakurai already decided upon the roster before Geno's support really came to life, which was after the Brawl trailer.
So Sakurai would have really had no reason to even consider Geno regardless of him being owned by SE.

The only time Geno could have been seriously considered is if he had been the most requested character on his poll instead of Sonic. But that's not the case, obviously.

Super Mario RPG is pretty inferior to other RPG's to be honest, even when comparing to the spiritual successors Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi.

Super Paper Mario (the one for the Wii) is not an RPG.

However, it is definately a great game. I'd say give it a shot, if only to laugh at the humor.

I have not played Sticker Star yet, so I can't comment on that.

It's a huge disappointment.

There, saved you 40 bucks.
People said that about Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Skyward Sword, Other M, and Super Paper Mario. I enjoyed them.

I'll buy it (or borrow it) and see for myself.

Thanks for the heads up though.

Whay about Paper mario Wii? Is it as good as 64/GC?
Also that M&L Luigi Dream thing i doubt that will be better than Bowsers inside story nothing can touch Saga.

PS: the super mario's go in the order they were released.

64>Sunshine>Galaxy 1>Galaxy 2.
