Now that I think about it, definitely Palutena. I admit that I know next to nothing about her other than her role in the Kid Icarus series, but it really seems like everyone wants her in the game for two reasons: They arbitrarily want more females in the game and they find Palutena an attractive anime character (or she's also their waifu.) It's true that the game needs more females but you can't justify including a character just because they are female and you definitely shouldn't want a character in the game because of your romantic pangs. The only reason that I don't want to see her is because my impression has been that she was designed to appeal to this kind of crowd.Palutena.
I'm generally not the type that hate characters, in fact, I don't really hate characters aside from Mii, and that's only because of what a plague they'd be to the online, and I don't really consider them a popular choice either since the majority of people seem to hate them. I also support pretty much every popular character, not in the way that I go to their threads much, but even if I have never played the games where Palutena, Little Mac, Isaac and Shulk are in, I still want them in, mostly because I think they deserve it, they have good potential, and they would make a lot of people happy. Wouldn't weep if they miss the train either though, would be a shame but I can brush it off.I can come up with a random topic if we need it.

For me there is no (realistic/possible) character I least want, regardless of how many others like that said character. I'm very open minded on who can be in the game. Before Brawl, on the other hand, I didn't want Ridley (now I don't care if he's in).I can come up with a random topic if we need it.

So she should have the role she had in uprising and communicate with Pit from afar like Snake's codec or somethingOkay, while I'm not actually a Palutena supporter (though not against her either), I'm gonna stop you there and speak against that statement.
I love how you people think so little when it comes to why someone would want a character if it's female but have no issues if it's male. It goes both ways, ya know.
I'm pretty sure people don't want Palutena cause of some creepy "waifu" status they've given her, but because of how much character she was given in Uprising and how appealing and likeable it made her. Not the mention how we were actually able to see what she's capable of for the first time in the boss fight against her.
Besides, if the completely dumb and useless broad Princess Peach is allowed to be in Smash, I'm pretty sure any other more capable female character Nintendo has, which is pretty much the entire other 99% of them, should be allowed a chance too. That's probably why I liked Wii Fit Trainer from the start. Once I saw what she could do, I could actually respect her just as much as I do some of the guys. That's what it really boils down to. The amount of character and the amount of success.
And to end this off, you want something really weird to think about? The KI character majority of guys really have their weird fantasies about isn't Palutena at all. It's Pit himself. Look into that some more yourself if you doubt what I'm saying (which I wouldn't blame you) and if you're really that curious. ¦D;
She's not the only goddess Pit can use powers from. That's exactly how he was able to fight her in Uprising. If he's not relying on Palutena, he can always rely on Viridi. So she should have the role she had in uprising and communicate with Pit from afar like Snake's codec or something
His powers are completely dependent on her, after all
If they fought, all she would have to do is snap her fingers and he's completely powerless. And with her personality, I could easily see her doing that
This is a great response. I was going to type up something to the effect. I would just like to add that a lot of people throw out the general notion that Palutena is a female and we need more females for a different reason. They aren't associating her merit with her gender. Smash is a family game, arguably a party game. There are a lot of female gamers that enjoy Smash. Sometimes females like to play as a character of their gender. Just something about it makes it more relate-able. The choices they have? Samus (over sexualized), Peach, and Zelda. That isn't enough when a character like Palutena is so important to a franchise that is undoubtedly going to get a second representative. The mere notion that there are only 3 (5) playable females out of 39 should be enough to warrant IMPORTANT females like Palutena or Dixie.Okay, while I'm not actually a Palutena supporter (though not against her either), I'm gonna stop you there and speak against that statement.

...Did you actually read anything I said you? I just said that WASN'T the reason people wanted her.@wave: "waifu"? lol, I'm just gonna put this out there I don't give a **** whether my characters are confirmed or not I only support them because they'd bring refreshing movesets to the table. I'd imagine palutena using various weapons from KI:U and some magic, that be a pretty sweet moveset, if magnus can do it cool add him, but people wanting her because of meh "waifu"? lol that's not the reason i support her; and I hope other palutena supporters don't actually think she's real XD.
Remember SSX on Tour? Well in the japanese version...They were going to give peach g-string underwear
Obviously they want to emphasize the sexuality of her more
This is why most females play Pikachu or Kirby... can't give Pikachu a thong. If only... If only......Did you actually read anything I said you? I just said that WASN'T the reason people wanted her.
The guy I quoted was the one who said otherwise. Read first.

Dude, it's right on top in a google search.I was going to say "Oh yeah, bet I can find a picture of him in one"
But I was only able to find a picture of Raichu in a thong

I love how you people-
If you read anything besides how what I think most of the Palutena supporters think, you would know I said that's just my ignorant impression. I literally know nothing about Palutena. If she is a good character with good gameplay potential, then all the better.I love how you people think so little when it comes to why someone would want a character if it's female but have no issues if it's male. Oh yes, this an edit as I forgot add this, but being gay isn't weird. Fantasizing over a fictional character isn't made any more or less weird by what gender they are, unless it's Rule 63 Hulk Hogan. And to end this off, you want something really weird to think about? I wouldn't say she is over-sexualized, but its increasing focus is becoming a major detraction from the atmosphere of the games. Up until the mid 2000s I had always seen Metroid as sharing the same level of respect for women that, say, something like Star Trek:TNG had. Samus was a strong and level headed person and didn't fall under any existing archetype. It seems like her most recent depictions are instead using her sexuality as a cheap attempt at character development instead of focusing on her other attributes or at least challenging what she has traditionally been.Samus is "over-sexualized?" Really? If anything, that's a flimsy demerit against a character that's actually iconic and represents a whole series. Just about anything can be oversexed anyway. You just need a rabid, hormone-laden fanbase.
So you don't want Paultena in because of her gender, you want her in because of her gender and merit. This is a great response. I was going to type up something to the effect. Boom, nailed it. Great observation/post.

I don't understand where you are coming from with the sexism. I find it hard to believe that you play games but don't seem to understand how stupidly women are represented in games in general - and it's made worse by the fact that they are underrepresented to begin with. If people are against a female character in video games, it's usually because of how dumb they are and by no coincidence - Not exactly because they are women, but because of all the overplayed or negative female archetypes attached to them. Peach has proven to be an exception because she's a unique fighter and for the most part her character can't be helped because she unfortunately comes from the Damsel in Distress age of video games and isn't going anywhere. You shouldn't use her as a slippery slope to allow any kind of character in. It's not that men don't suffer ridiculous or negative archetypes as well - I mean, some traits like ridiculous muscle structure, overly confident, and packing an Xboxhueg are all rolled into one character - but women suffer them far worse and far more often than men, so don't be surprised when a lot of people dismiss more female characters than male. Equality is equal treatment, not equal numbers.
Anecdotally, I am the biggest Pac-Man anti-supporter out there (although I keep it to myself) and he literally has the word "Man" in his name, I'm a supporter of Wii Fit Trainer, and half of my impossible wishes are women (Marina Lightyears, Erim (Lufia), and The Boss (MGS3.) If I literally had to choose any single Nintendo character for the game, I would come out of left field with a female warrior from Chozo lore crafted by a Retro Studios and Nintendo collaboration.
I'm sorry. Are you talking about Other M here? And the characterization of Samus therein? That game doesn't exist (to me).I wouldn't say she is over-sexualized, but its increasing focus is becoming a major detraction from the atmosphere of the games. Up until the mid 2000s I had always seen Metroid as sharing the same level of respect for women that, say, something like Star Trek:TNG had. That picture is more appropriate for Queen's Blade than anything else.lol this reminds me of this

I allready asked and it's because of the different language of each video so it explains why there's 15 videosGuys...
I think I might have discovered a clue to how many newcomers we will have.
Check this out.

It's Megaman's trailer on youtube. This particular video is on the SmashBrosChannel.
Now we can only see four videos. Being the three character trailers and the Nintendo Direct.
It says that the channel has 15 videos though. Any attempt to investigate the channel further results in a link to Nintendo's main page.
What do you guys think?
Exactly, mang. But I'm not opposed to giving depth to any character, even ones that didn't really have it before. It just has to be done properly.I always enjoyed Samus' characterization pre-Other M
left more to the imagination
a lot of people defend her Other M incarnation as giving depth to her character, but I feel like in the case of Samus, less is more
