"Pic of the day. Out of the blue, here's a new stage--the Pyrosphere from Metroid: Other M! An enemy from Samus's past may appear at any second."

Well, maybe the sentences are not both about the stage. Maybe he means he could reveal Ridley at any second. I'd say if Ridley is not revealed this week, he is a stage hazard.

I think the original meaning of the message was lost in translation.

It was probably "a character that will make the Internet implode on itself may appear any second."

That metroid stage is so beautiful in HD.
It's butt ugly. It's got 3 colors and all of them are very similar.

Honestly, just about any location on Metroid Prime 3 looks much better, and that's on the white GameCube with motion controls.

Seriously though, Sakurai is really unoriginal with his Metroid stage choices. Not just did he choose a stage from the worst Metroid game ever, he chose the area from a part of the game most people hate. Not only that, but Dead or Alive already did that stage, and that game probably did it better than Sakurai will do it.

Also, this stage confirms Sakurai probably has never played a Metroid game for more than 15 minutes.

He probably did cause he felt it'd be a good stage for Ridley, especially since Norfair, the other notable choice, would be a retro stage.

May or may not be in the womb.

There is literally no difference in how Nintendo and Japan perceives the Metroid series. So expecting them to go "Oh, American fans preferred the Prime games so clearly we need a Prime stage over an Other M game" is outright ignorant.

I don't think anyone in Japan has played a Metroid game for more than 15 minutes.

This includes Nintendo themselves.

Between this and the Swampert thing I'm becoming convinced you have no taste in design.
It's got no color to it.

It's the same vanilla "dark" color scheme we've seen in games like the Bionic Commando game on the Xbox 360, Gears of War 1-3 (although with less variety), and other generic "dark" looking games. It's freaking overdone, and quite frankly outdated by about 7 years.

I just hope that people won't stress too much and lose sleep over this Ridley problem haha. It's hard to remain patience and calm at times, however, I fear that things like this will happen more in the future, and when they do I'll try not to get all negative/pessimistic... though I can't say the same for Smash-related forums.

I bought a Wii U mostly for Smash 4. If my #1 most wanted character does not get confirmed, I'll be disappointed, for sure, however, I'm still going to buy Smash 4. Super Smash Bros. is one of my fave series of all times and I went into Brawl knowing my fave fighter wasn't in it. So, my love for the series won't stop now. Even though I was very satisfied with Brawl, I would love to see all the new things Smash 4 offers... plus I'm kinda stubborn to quit.

But yeah, I was hoping we'll get a Metroid stage without lava (or burning acid). I think it's nice to have some diversity, y'know. But I am liking the new stage... who knows what we'll get in the future...

Nintendo is a company, therefore, it doesn't have opinions.

But alas, yes, they don't know how to perceive that. And Nintendo has relatively little involvement in the stage choice; that's all Sakurai. Nintendo is probably barely even help develop the game; all they are doing is producing it (via funding it).

Also, I want the best stage choices, and it just so happens its from Metroid Prime 3, aka the best Wii game by far.

Also, Prime 3 way outsold Other M, and is much more popular in the Metroid fanbase, regardless of location or Japan's crappy preferences ("durh Final Fantasy XIII was the best game ever even if the story wasn't there durh. So much better than Battlefield 3 durh durh durh durh!!!"). Actually, Japanese gamers' preferences are no less crappy than the rest of the world; I fail to see why anyone holds them up to some pedestal.

Other M was actually the first Metroid game I played since Fusion came out

My knowledge of the metroid series is completely within the 2D games

Edit: Although I did watch slowbeef's metroid prime let's play

What's funny is how many mannerisms we don't know we have. Sure, I have my forced "=???" "awesome" "super awesome" and whatnot, but man, I have a lot of subconscious other phrases like "also" "yeah" and "and" to start sentences... which is really... "off" (?) to me.
I say "eh" a lot irl, and sometimes only after what I say I notice! Perhaps I should adopt that mannerism into how I speak on this forum, eh?

At least unlike Norfair, I like this stages' layout (so far), but man, the design is piss ugly, and the color detail and contrast looks like urine.

Compare that stage to any other confirmed Smash Wii U stage, and it just looks bad.

Really, Skytown Elysia or the Space Federation Frigate would have been much more beautiful stages.

That the Metroid stage choices will suck and Sakurai's design of them will continue to suck=???

That Ridley isn't as big of a shoe in as people would like to think. I don't know if he's a hazard or if he's going to be revealed soon, but I'm glad he's being addressed now rather than later.

And yet we still have K Rool fans thinking Dixie Kong is somehow less likely than him.

How about a tourian stage, complete with Mother brain in the background. It could have fruit loops as stage hazards which fire from cannons every once in a while and force fields between areas that you can brake through

I use swear words casually a lot irl.

I don't overuse them, but I do use them from time to time to spice up my language a bit.

It's funny thoughm since I tend to mix them with big, high-level vocab words, so get this mix of words thrown at you, that's both a bit raunchy yet pretentious.

Eh, I think this all but confirms Ridley actually.

Also, K. Rool is more likely than Dixie Kong because he is far more unique than Dixie Kong.

Heck, those 2 are the most unique potentially playable characters. If Sakurai isn't smart enough to add said characters, then quite frankly the series needs a new leader. Smash should be about uniqueness, not "fitting in." If neither are playable, then expect several bland newcomers.

100% Canadian right here confirmed!!! :chuckle:

But yeah, I say "but yeah" a lot IRL... even more than how much I say it here!!! :chuckle:

What if both systems got exclusive VERSIONS of a stage instead of just exclusive stages.

For example, we get the Mario Kart DS version of Rainbow road for 3DS and the new rainbow road (we know there will be one) from Mario kart 8 for Wii U.

I like both King K. Rool and Dixie Kong.
But I think King K. Rool is way more of a unique fighter than Dixie.
I mean what can Dixie Kong do that Diddy can't? Twirl her hear and...pick things up with her hair???
In a dream roster i would totally have both though.

I thought the Villager and Wii Fit Trainer really opened the way for once more doubtful characters. The Villager previously was rejected by Ridley because he didn't fit in a fighting game. Sakurai also mentioned that Ridley could be in the game if the team used their best efforts, although he might be a little slow.

If Sakurai did think size or body structure or mobility was an issue for Ridley in Brawl, I was hoping these concerns would be diminished for the fourth game.

I would like games represented that have no reps yet before any game gets even more reps.

Does that make me weird?
No, i'm in the same boat. To some degree.
It depends on what said newcomer character brings to the table.
But i prefer not see more Pokemon, or Mario characters

All the newcomers confirmed are just that

It's time to move on to the new reps from returning series

No, but it does make a little sense. Personally, I'd like to see the Ice climbers, Ness, or even a new-comer (LIL'MAC!) get confirmed before we get yet another obvious character - like Luigi.

No, not just confirmed. I don't want any other newcomers from an already represented series. Too many awesome Nintendo franchises aren't even in this game yet, so I'll pass of more DK or Metroid or any other already represented game if we could get more franchises in.
