If Nintendo's "online multiplayer" was as good as everyone elses', they'd be an even bigger company than they are now.

So! I'm finally moved into my new house! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No more days filled with so much work my disabled body can't walk!
Let's have a party!
We all expected it, but it still is a MASSIVE disappointment. No online for 3D World? Kinda expected that honestly but yeah it's a shame
I still to this day do not get the point of region-locking, lolWe all expected it, but it still is a MASSIVE disappointment.
I guess Sony and Microsoft support online gaming and not locking people into stupid regions. In other words, they do what Nintendon't.
Sony and Microsoft will also probably will have consoles that in their first year, people will buy in their from March to June!!!!
The DS and 3DS have solid online. It is the fact both had better online than the Wii (and it wasn't even within the same stratosphere) that is laughable. If Nintendo's "online multiplayer" was as good as everyone elses', they'd be an even bigger company than they are now.
That and Samus seemingly obvious increase in strength and speed, both of which were sorely lacking in Brawl. All I care about is Samus' seemingly buffed Nair. Dat length man.
If only I can like some thing more than once bro... if only.Technically Mario Kart 8's "release window" is Spring 2014, but of course, that is open to being changed.
Yeah, the lack of online is stupid, and I hope it bites Nintendo in the butt so they can learn from their mistakes already. Heck, I hope Pikmin 3 sales falter because of it. Online multiplayer is now a STANDARD FEATURE on ALMOST ALL MULTIPLAYERS!!! In fact, that has been the case FOR NEARLY A DECADE!!!
Nintendo should have learned this already. The online for Mario Kart Wii literally probably "sold" the game to millions of people... JUST THE ONLINE!!! If Brawl's online was as good as Mario Kart Wii's online (which honestly isn't that good, but at least it is playable), then Brawl would have sold several million more copies.
I swear, all of this "stuck in the stone age" multiplayer without online, region-locking, and lack of leader boards is why I am glad I am no blind Nintendo fanboy. Some of these idiots are even praising Nintendo for there not being online multiplayer in Pikmin 3. Last I checked, all other modern RTS' in the universe had online multiplayer.
This is the kind of crap that could lead to the Wii U getting Dreamcast'd, and is why Nintendo ought to catch up with the times of these issues that really aren't debatable. Heck, at least make them (FREE!!!) DLC later to "make up" for their shortsightedness and poor developing time frames.
LOL!? are they similar in comparisons to their sizes in Brawl? Also...Luigi seems too big. He could pluck off Link's head with that giant hand.
Oops, I forgot to say the key word "consoles". Anywho, yes, the DS systems have very solid and sturdy online capabilities. I do not understand how exactly they did not get it down pat with both game systems. However, since the Wii is the older one of the two, perhaps it just needs upgrading? The DS and 3DS have solid online. It is the fact both had better online than the Wii (and it wasn't even within the same stratosphere) that is laughable.
If the Wii had the same quality of online as the PS3 did, Nintendo would have sold 150 million of those things by now, and Sony or Microsoft might have given up by now.
That and Samus seemingly obvious increase in strength and speed, both of which were sorely lacking in Brawl.
It is a money grab for the publishers so that games released say 6 months apart in different regions aren't at different price points, and thus making them less money. Really, it could be solved if developers just made international same day releases, but no, developers like Square Enix, Nintendo with a lot of games (Brawl, Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower, etc), and Capcom have to be stupid about it.I still to this day do not get the point of region-locking, lol
Probably the one time I've seen Black people dancing nerfed to White people tier.
Well Nintendo's online with the DS and 3DS is IMO very adequate, and I am happy with it (sans it not supporting certain internet protection on both consoles, which was a huge misstep, and should totally be 3DS DLC if it already isn't). It is the fact Nintendo under utilizes the internet in their games and technology that pisses me and other people off.If only I can like some thing more than once bro... if only.
Still inexcusable, especially since the Wii had DLC/update capabilities. The PS3's online wasn't all that great early on (from what I can remember), but online updates made it eventually a fairly stable, reliable, and enjoyable online infrastructure.Oops, I forgot to say the key word "consoles". Anywho, yes, the DS systems have very solid and sturdy online capabilities. I do not understand how exactly they did not get it down pat with both game systems. There's a chance that we can get another Vet. reveal tomorrow.Needs more newcomers, definitely needs to squeeze in newcomers. At least, have less emphasis on Mario characters.
Honestly, it's a little too expensive for what it offers now. I'm waiting until the "Christmas sale" to buy one.I'm probably not going to get a Wii U in the near future
Hoping my little stepbrother gets that and Smash so that I can just play it over there
I hear the 3DS is suppose to get an update to overhaul the system's UI to be inline with Wii U's and include Miiverse as well.Well Nintendo's online with the DS and 3DS is IMO very adequate, and I am happy with it (sans it not supporting certain internet protection on both consoles, which was a huge misstep, and should totally be 3DS DLC if it already isn't). ALL RTS' lifespan are determined by online multiplayer primarily, and with none, Pikmin 3's multiplayer won't be a thing a year down the line, whereas if it had online, it would be huge, and the game would sell a million copies by October, easily.
In my estimations, at best, we got at most we probably got 10 newcomers left. At worst, we have something like 5 newcomers left.Needs more newcomers, definitely needs to squeeze in newcomers.
There's are third party Gamecube-controller adapter for the Wii U on Amazon.I'm sold on buying a PS4, but that WiiU has so much freaking potential and they just fall flat. Seriously. I just need online multiplayer as an option, wired controllers (a simple driver update), and cross-game voice chat to be happy.
I very much agree that Nintendo should start implementing online multiplayer in some of their games, but...Technically Mario Kart 8's "release window" is Spring 2014, but of course, that is open to being changed.

Don't those require the WiiU gamepad though? I'm talking purely USB wired controllers. There's are third party Gamecube-controller adapter for the Wii U on Amazon.
Along with every single fighting game ever made to say the least.3) Yea, Online Multiplayer is a STANDARD FEATURE. You know what else is a STANDARD FEATURE? Local Multiplayer, and not FOR NEARLY A DECADE, but DECADES.
Nintendo's the only one who really keeps that alive and well.
I'm probably not going to get a Wii U until the console gets really good or until Smash WiiU is about to come out.Every time I'm reminded of the blatantly obvious things that Nintendo doesn't do - like online multiplayer, the more I'm hesitant to get a WiiU until Smash 4 comes out. Or Bayonetta
I believe all you need is a Gcube controller, the wii's gamecube ports (where you plug the controller in), and thats where you put the adapter. You can probably guess what to do with the Controller.Don't those require the WiiU gamepad though? I'm talking purely USB wired controllers.
Along with every single fighting game ever made to say the least.
Here's a problem though. What if you don't have friends that play the games you play? That's where online multiplayer comes in for people like me.
All of those games (on the PC) support local multiplayer... at least on the PC version (via LAN), which is local multiplayer.I don't see you complaining about how GTA4 and GTA5 don't have local multiplayer, or how Left 4 Dead doesn't support local multiplayer for more than 2 people, or MGS Peacewalker for the PS3/360 doesnt support local, and how almost every new-gen game disregards it, or doesn't make the local multiplayer feature competent or fun.
I'm not down-talking online multiplayer, I agree with you.Along with every single fighting game ever made to say the least.
Here's a problem though. What if you don't have friends that play the games you play? That's where online multiplayer comes in for people like me.
I don't get the need for wired controllers. I have a Pro Controller that I just hook up to a Wiimote, and it does wonders. I mean, I get it for tournament play, but that's about it, really. But if you want to get on the topic of stupid things companies support or don't support, why are you letting Nintendo get away with no online multiplayer for multiplayer games, no LAN for lots of games that could use it, region locking on all recent Nintendo consoles, oh, and no support for wired controllers.
We know he still has his green fireball. And Luigi's been confirmed?! That's too cool! But we don't know any moves, huh?
That's one of the primary reasons. Tournament play would have to have wired controllers. One would to reduce as much input lag as possible. The other is to not deal with signal interference.I don't get the need for wired controllers. I have a Pro Controller that I just hook up to a Wiimote, and it does wonders. I mean, I get it for tournament play, but that's about it, really.
I only just now noticed, but holy crap they finally got rid of Mario's poker face.Who knows... only time will tell.
He still gonna have the move with the butt.
LAN doesn't count. I don't expect to have friends come over my house with a game console and same copies of the games I own. That's nothing like having just a local multiplayer feature. All of those games (on the PC) support local multiplayer... at least on the PC version (via LAN), which is local multiplayer.
Plus c'mon!!! Who would want to play GTA with local multiplayer with more than 4 players=??? There would be too much going on, and the screen and the speakers would go into overdrive. That sounds dumb. As for Left 4 Dead... eh. It's made for the PC. If you bought another version, you done messed up. It supports LAN beyond 4 players, actually.
MGS... eh. It has never had local multiplayer. Besides, that is just one franchise.
Still, local multiplayer on all those games would be a nice feature, although I don't see it "working" for GTA IV or V past 2 players. Although at least in the case of those games PEOPLE ACTUALLY OWN THOSE CONSOLES!!!
Also, online multiplayer moves way more consoles and copies than local multiplayer. The fact Nintendo fails to realize that is stupid. On top of that, Nintendo rarely supports LAN. Heck, consoles rarely support LAN. Why is that=??? LAN is awesome.
But if you want to get on the topic of stupid things companies support or don't support, why are you letting Nintendo get away with no online multiplayer for multiplayer games, no LAN for lots of games that could use it, region locking on all recent Nintendo consoles, oh, and no support for wired controllers.
A lot of characters in general seem to have more personality this time around, which is probably contributed to the varies screenshots having more zest.I only just now noticed, but holy crap they finally got rid of Mario's poker face.
Yes, online multiplayer would be the difference from turning Pikmin 3 to just a "nice" game to a game you have to check out, which is why Pikmin as a franchise has yet to not even come close to being a "must buy" franchise like a multitude of other Nintendo franchises are.@Johnknight
Yea, it still wouldn't be game-changing though. Bingo Battle's really fun, but it isn't the star of the show in Pikmin 3.
I'm very confident that the new motion controls and the Wii branding sold Mario Kart Wii more copies than the online multiplayer. Also, that logic with Gran Turismo doesn't even make sense, a LOT more people bought Mario Kart Wii, and Gran Turismo also has online.
I always hoped that Mario would look less, um, grumpy in Smash 4 than what we see in Brawl. Idk why, but I always get this impression that Mario's like really pissed or something in Brawl. If Brawl is srs bsns, then what makes Smash 4?I only just now noticed, but holy crap they got rid of Mario's poker face.
