I'm very curious about your moveset concepts haha. I'd love to see them once finished.
I finished it about 2 or 3 years ago. Roy has a lot of stabbing moves, he's nimble, he does a few thrusting attacks, and he's got his general Fire Emblem 6 attacks translated in (and as the inspiration) as his Smash Bros. attacks. Of course, to Melee Roy fans, that would be a huge change, but it would be a heck of a lot more interesting.
I mad e a moveset a long time ago, but meh, the concepts are more important. Underrated speed, quality power (specifically power where you need it), and minimal pre-lag (most of the lag is afterwards to coincide with his style in FE6), and just overall lots of fancy stabbing (related) attacks would be how Roy operates offensively.
Oh, and maybe give him Ike's neutral B as his new side B, make his up B a new leaping stab (like Marth's recovery aka Dolphin Slash or whatever meets Fox's Fire Fox), and just totally give him lots of stab, lunge, and a few "slicing" jab-esk attacks. That would be pretty unique. And of course, give him lots of aerial combos, new grab moves and whatnot, and of course, give him a much needed spike.
Some of my concepts that I have are kinda similar to yours actually. How I sorta envision Roy (or should I say what I'd like him to be haha):
- Glass Cannon: Rushdown fighter using the SoS's fire projectiles for zoning capabilities = good at pressuring
- Strengths: raw damage output, speed, and extreme priority for some moves
- Weaknesses: high end-lag/cooldown for various moves (Standard, Aerials, Smashes), bad defences, ****ty recovery
I dunno about these. I'd give him good combos, solid defense, and a better recovery. I just think he needs to be built in mind that naturally if they build him off his Sword of the Seals/Binding Blade and Awakening appearance that he would be totally different from Marth and Ike. It would kinda be like Mario and Wario with Marth and Roy where they have similar bodies (obviously Wario and Roy are stronger and KO better but are slower and not as good at recovery), but they are differentiated by their styles.
I would like him to be a bit combo oriented as well. Though instead of "stabbing" my concept is that his swordplay puts more emphasis on the SoS's broadsword aspect, dealing heavy, powerful two-handed swings. But graciousness is cool too!
I think what you are describing is two handed stabs (which he would have), two handed lunges, those weird running jab (in boxing) like two hand stabbing-like motions, and his weird almost backwards overhand punch-esk slashes. Those would all definitely be in my moveset.
EDIT: OMG 1000th post! Whoop-dee-freakin'-doo.
Congratulations Smash Lord.
