Because people just assume that they would be able to produce some magical sequel that's as good or better than the past games with modern graphics and music, without realizing that they can't just force unnecessary sequels (and make them that good).
A lot of people love something so much, that they'll want more of it. They may point out absurd things that can be used to bring villains or something like that back, to continue the story, or think it will do better off with a new storyline.
Otherwise, some people may just not think much about what a new game would be like.

I would love to, but I don't believe in such superstitions . Only humans can fix their own natures/errors, and it's sad because that's so hard to perform due to our wants and needs.

Well, you're sending a wish to a star that's, at best, light years away. Assuming that wishes travel at the speed of light, you would need to make a wish on a star that is no more than thirty light years away for you to reap the benefit of the wish.
For once I'd be more excited about the non-Smash aspects of this announcement. But only because I think we'd get Goku in Smash before we get another Earthbound game.
MOTHER 4 could happen.
Dragon Ball Z had 4 movies air on Toonami once.
Four is one of the two numbers to the answer of the meaning of life in A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (42).
Half-Life 2: Episode... 2 x 2 = 4... which involves the number 4 and 2, the latter twice.
one 2 x one 2 = 4.
I did 2 x 2 = 4 twice before.
And 2 x 2 = 4.

4 is also considered the number of death in Asia. Itoi makes another MOTHER game and he's dead, and this is a guy who looks remarkably young for his age.
Slipped past my schedule, I guess. Then again back in the day television programming was hardly a thing, video games were though. Was one of the few idort kids on the block, had a Sega Genesis and SNES, then a Playstation and Nintendo 64, then a Playstation 2 and Gamecube, and then treading on a pattern like that. Haha, back then having that sort of mentality was kind of an odd ball thing.

To be honest, I hardly remember watching the show, but I remembered the character designs. I didn't get to see it very often myself as its original run was when I was in preschool. My first exposure was after its abrupt cancellation. Then I started watching it on Boomerang. Second season was such an improvement in art o the point that the coloring and animation style resembled 90's anime.
Funny enough, the show came on the same year as the original Starfox's release though aside from animals in fighter planes, they're not that similar.
Speaking of Starfox, I hope Krystal gets in, hyuck hyuck.

Honestly, I'd like Krystal to be in, and I'd love to see the haters whining and crying over her inclusion. I've wanted her since I first played Adventures.
The only reason why this thread needs to be limited on Callie is just so the thread doesn't get locked AGAIN.
Today I revisited Starfox Assault after a while...
I have to say, I personally think it's really overlooked.
The on-foot and Landmaster sections don't feel awkward at all if you switch the control settings to dual-stick aiming and it actually becomes incredibly fun, and the Arwing sections are obviously great.
The music, graphics, and overall production value are all incredible, and I think it's just a great game.
I would go as far to say it's comparable to Starfox 64 in many ways.

and if you want to see haters whining support Slippy the rage would be so intense "no the character that ruined the starfox franchise didn't get in instead we got a more important character with more personality)
as you can tell I do not like krystal
It might not even be a matter of the story itself. Maybe the creator of the game just doesn't feel there's anything more they can do with the Mother franchise.

People just use Krystal as a scapegoat really. It's not like the games themselves didn't have flaws. The only one out of them that's bad is Command. Treat Adventures as a side story game and it's a lot easier to enjoy.
me and my friends used to joust 2v2 we would fly the planes at each other while the guys on top of the planes try to shoot the other one off
wolf getting the best stats was dumb
I dunno, I think it'd be tough to cobble together a true blue sequel to Mother 3.
(Spoilers below!)
The world ****ing ends after the seventh pin is pulled, gg.
I think an indirect approach (i.e. a spiritual successor, as Kuma suggested) is feasible. I would love to see Itoi and Co.'s signature charm and humor in another game, perhaps with some of the darker undertones extant in Mother 3 (which, imo, was a surprisingly dark game when you really think about it).
@ Kuma: Surprisingly, I remember quite a bit about that show. It was on a Saturday afternoon line-up kind of thing alongside the likes of Pirates of Dark Water and Captain Planet. I probably came after the show's debut/inception elsewhere, watching reruns, but a lot of it was burned pretty much into my memory. I loved the fact that the heroes had what I thought were (at the time) unique, contrasting personalities, and they also fought evildoers in a ****ing jet fighter.
If ya'll wanna know two of my favorite cartoons growing up...? Check it below:

I honestly didn't feel that the on-foot sections are really bad.
Like I said, they don't feel awkward with the dual-stick controls.
I personally think the free-range missions from Starfox 64 are worse (Katina, Fichina, whatever the other one was); they're really mundane and repetitive (and not fun)

Well, my memory can be very fuzzy (no pun intended) when it comes to a lot of things. Because of the schedule I had when I was little, I'd be lucky to catch episodes of tv shows on weekdays. I remember being ticked that I'd miss episodes of Sailor Moon and Cardcaptors because we were all sent to play outside where most of the things bored me. Oddly enough, I do have the image of Dark!Callie getting arrested, but I didn't know the context of that scene for years.
I didn't get to see Mighty Max, but I loved the freaking heck out of Gargoyles when I saw reruns of it on Toon Disney (R.I.P.).
Well, as far as I know the Mother series was all one big storyline.
They went a completely different direction for Mario, Pokemon, and Zelda. Mario has several different stories, never realy connected to one from another game, Zelda focuses on the history of a kingdom, and the story of one boy who always turns out to be the hero destined to save said kingdom. It has only focused on one of the heros for no more than 2 games, usually just 1.
They'll keep making Zelda and Metroid as long as they feel they can do more around for the entire story. Metroid was like Mother, as it's one big story told through several different games, but some of them are just better off ending after certain things happen.
They probably felt Mother was one that was better off ending in Mother 3.
Killer Frost instead of Captain Cold was total bull she only got in because shes a girl thats it
my favorite Comic Book character ever gets pushed aside because hes a man i'm still salty about it
back on topic I'd be ok with krystal as an assist trophy though
Command is probably the best Star Fox game that isn't the original game or a remake of it (or its' cancelled sequel).
Assault had some nice (although a bit... "too loose?") Arwing play, but the other vehicles were bad, and the on foot gameplay was an embarrassment (compared to games like Halo 2 coming out around then it is just bad). Plus the graphics looked outdated.
Adventures was a mixed bag. It definitely looked nice, it had some okay controls, and it had some fun parts, but it hasn't aged well nearly entirely because as a game it is very unmemorable, and it gets lost in the shuffle with the other previous Rare games as well as the other good platformers of that time. Of course, the biggest reason that game was a letdown is because Nintendo wanted to claim it by putting Star Fox in it, and I'm sure Rare at that point was just a big giant mess with all of the upheaval.
