WOOOOW! Its good to know Kid Icarus will get amazing music and remixes for the new Smash. The old songs just werent cuttting it on Brawl.
yep, Kid Icarus Uprising has THAT good music. I love that Boss Theme, it think it will be beyond epic if they put that in SSB4. Skyward Sword has also excellent music. If there are games that should get a lot of musical representation, these two surely are.

I'm still unsure of how I feel about vocals in a smash bros game.
The Wario Ware Songs were funny to listen to.
And I was so mad that they removed the vocals from sonic the hedgehog's HIS WORLD
But seriously no more calm Bullsh#$ like THIS
you know how hard it is to FIGHT to THAT!?!
I don't think it's hard to fight with calm music... it's just unfitting (as in the case you demonstrated). For example, I liked fighting in Shadow Moses Island with the Calling to the Night song. It might give a different atmosphere to the fight if the song is correctly chosen.

Some of Uprising's BGM would've been better if they actually looped properly. The final boss music is one example.

Okay, I decided to add a music archive right under the OP. I've added about two-thirds of the suggestions in this thread. From now in, if someone wants to add their music added to the archive, it needs to put in this format:

Game Title - [*URL*] Song Title [*/URL*]

I'm considering crediting the person who first posted each song next to the link, or I'm going to do a song rating/evaluation system.

Starphoenix, just so you know, Bowser has 2 themes in The Thousand Year Door: one is his leitmotif and the other is the battle theme I posted. So you might want to specify the difference in the archive.

The Pocky and Rocky Haunted Shrine theme.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RQNsnzwWeQ

Maybe they could remix it into something like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_l4w45An31g

Pocky and Rocky is an obscure game from Natsume (creators of Harvest Moon) with music by Hiroyuki Iwatsuki.
Unlike most obscure heavily Japanese culture influenced games, this one has several releases all of which made it to the West.

The sequel Pocky and Rocky 2 had an amazing theme as well.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vevdlA1mFE
Ayeeh, you really poked me on the weak spot! I'd wish to see Pocky in Smash, not to mention Goemon from Ganbare Goemon-series (now that is a real Konami-character with long history on Nintendo-consoles, no doubt.)

Hey Star, I posted my Starfy-music megapost again the character's topic itself, you feel like going to get em here?

I just want them to not ignore the Wario Land series like it never happened. Plenty of great tracks to pull from there, plus perhaps a stage. With the introduction of a Paper Mario stage, they should have a good spread of songs from those games as well.

I love this theme. The bass is slick and it's got that cool villainous feel.

F-Zero GX /AX - Black Shadow

EDIT: I know this theme can't happen because it's not Nintendo, but... Enslaved - Frost/Loke

But back to Nintendo themes, I want Wario Land music in SSB4 (and more than just that for Wario Land in general).

Wario Land II - Stop that Train!
Wario Land 4 - Toy Block Tower
Wario Land: Shake It - Stonetooth Cave

Also, this Kirby tune is practically the musical definition of the color orange for me.

Kirby Super Star - Orange Ocean

Less reused music, more remixed/orchestrated songs plz.
I woud like a good mix of both....Besides some songs arent meant to be remixed.

Does anyone think there will be more song in Smash 4 than in Brawl? Brawl did have about 300 or something like that didnt it?

Topic 1: Agreed that some songs don't need remixes. I was disappointed in Brawl when there were only remixes of the Super Mario Bros. theme available and not the original that everyone's most nostalgic for (though the remixes were good). The most memorable Nintendo themes should be added to SSB4 with both the original theme and one or two remixes.

Topic 2: If SSB4's music selection is split between the 3DS and Wii U, I think we could have up to 500 individual songs in the game - 200 for the 3DS, 300 for the Wii U or whatever. Personally, I'd also ask for more variety to the composers - they were mostly Japanese (understandably), but I'd love to see other names in video game music outside of Japan like Jeremy Soule and Jack Wall.

In Group Mode, players should have the option of manually choosing which music track to use for their stage choice. Basically, in the rules, you could set the music options so that the music tracks are chosen randomly (which is where My Music comes to play), or you can choose them manually.

I didnt even think about the 3DS music....Hmmm I think both games will have some of the same songs. Does the 3DS have enough power to store 200 along with all thats going to be in the game?

Seeing how each stage has multiple songs. I thought instead of playing just one song per fight....why not play atleast 2 or go down the list? If your ok with hearing one song per match then you can set that in your options as well.

Decided I wanted to do something fun for a change, and what is more fun than a top ten list? This is the top ten tracks from the Wii generation that deserve to be in the next game. Most all of the tracks are taken from first or second party titles released after Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I will probably do similar lists for DS titles and 3DS titles (up until recently). With each track I'll leave some kind of small comment, nothing comprehensive. As always remember this list is subjective, so don't feel offended if some song you fell is unimportant is up there. Opinions.

Without further ado, here is number ten to kick things off!

10. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption - Dark Samus

I am surprised this song was not already in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, more specifically the original Echoes track. For that reason alone this song should be in the next game.

9. Wii Party - Title Theme

Well, this is a surprise. A Wii series title in the top ten for best songs from a Wii game? Absolutely. While the song may not be as high energy as some of the other tracks on this list, it has a great game show feel that would translate well to a kind of Pictochat/Wii series type stage.

8. Mario Sports Mix - Bowser Jr. Boulevard

Even though this game was technically developed by SquareEnix it still counts, right? Anyways, the song really speaks for itself. High energy swagger. The song is just a fun, glitzy combination of big band with jazzy overtones, or should that be reversed? Never been the biggest fan of Bowser Jr, but dang does he know how to pick real estate and themes.

Personally I think Boswer Jr. Blvd would make for a great stage if Sakurai really wanted to be creative.

7. The Last Story - The One Ruling Everything

Nobuo Uematsu. Enough said? Should be for anyone who knows their VG music stuff. The best part about this song is that Uematsu harkens back to some of his Final Fantasy roots with this song, carrying over the same feel that other final boss tracks in the Final Fantasy series are known for today. He tries some new things with this track, some I wish he didn't, that set it apart from his Final Fantasy work, but it's still quality all the same.

I'm still not sure how the legal mumbo jumbo dice fall with this game, but as far as I know Nintendo still owns a part of the IP.

6. Donkey Kong Country Returns - Factory Friction

Factory Friction, otherwise known as "Fear Factory Returns if not for legal reason", is an example of a quality rearrangement of a classic tune. This track preserves the same memory I have of first hearing this song many years ago when I first played through Donkey Kong Country.

5. Sin and Punishment: Star Successor - System Menu

This is where it becomes a little difficult... The top five. Sin and Punishment: Star Successor is a hidden gem if there ever was one. Surprisingly, not only is it a better graphical game than one might think, it boasts an impressive soundtrack too. In fact, just the menu music alone is better than some tracks in an entire game.

4. Xenoblade - Mechanical Rhythm

There are way too many good songs from this game to pick just one as best of the Wii generation, but since this is a top ten it is the name of the game. This song is definitely high octane, and in a battle would definitely keep every player energized through out their battle.

3. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - Vs. Moldarach

Epic... Simply epic. This song is why so many Zelda fans always begged Nintendo to give fans an orchestrated Zelda soundtrack. There is not much to add to this musical masterpeice.

2. Kirby's Return to Dreamland - Vs. Magolor

This song is a great example of a non-orchestrated song that is epic. Kirby's Return to Dreamland is one of those games that is as much of a joy to play now as it was to play Kirby Super Star or Kirby 64 back in the day. Very few modern games can touch that nostalgic nerve, but this game is one that can do it. Out of all of the final boss themes in the Kirby series, this has to be number one.

Best part of the song is after the 1:30 mark.

1. Super Mario Galaxy - Gusty Garden Galaxy

Did anyone honestly not see this coming? While I do hate to be predictable with number one picks there is just no denying the genius of this track, and how much it stands out in Super Mario musical history. One of the best songs from the Wii generation from one of the best games to be released on the Nintendo Wii.

Even though the game was released prior to Brawl it was not represented in any fashion, so technically it still counts. Remember, Brawl should have been out around the same time as Galaxy, but due to delays (Sonic the Hedgehog) the game was released the following year.

And now for the honorable mention...

Honorable Mention. Super Paper Mario - Castle Bleck

Personally my favorite track from this game. Unfortunately it just wasn't able to crack the top ten. Even though it was released prior to Brawl (far enough to actually receive representation) given the general lack of Paper Mario content I don't think this hurts.

YES, a music thread! I was looking forward to one of those!

Now, for my requests. Let me ask a question: Why don't they add "Final Boss" themes to Smash Bros.?
They are awesome. They are 95% of times the most epic songs in the game... Is Nintendo afraid of somehow spoiling the bosses to people?
I got a little tip for you, Nintendo: It's not a spoiler if the game is more than 3 years old.

Well, let's just check the awesome list of awesome "Final Boss" tunes:

To Starphoenix and everyone who placed Chimpanzee Clouds; I love you guys! That is one of my favortie vg melodies ever and it is sad for it to be too underappreciated. It has this odd mix of playfulness and innocence that I can't explain.

As for other muisc from my part, I really wish Nintendo would hire the people from Symphonic Legends in order to perform their melodies or remake them; or pay them to place the already performed material. These 2 are my personal favorites.

Symphonic Legends - Star Fox & Star Fox 64 (Space Suite)
Super Mario Galaxy (Galactic Suite)

From other series; if No More Heroes gets in I would pick the following:
Death Parade March - No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle Music Extended
Philistine - No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle Music Extended But it might need censorship and or change of lyrics.
We Are Finally Cowboys -No More Heroes-

Mega Man
Bubble Man Stage (Waterfall Institute)
Mega Man 4 OST, T20: Dr. Cossack Stage 2
Mega Man 6 OST, T11: Tomahawk Man Stage (Restricted Area)
Mega Man 6 OST, T12: Wind Man Stage (Mechanical Tower)
Mega Man 7 "Spring Man" OST
Megaman X6 Ground Scaravich
Megaman X6-I.D.E.A. (Ending)
Megaman X6 : Opening Theme Full Song (Moonlight)

Stunt Race FX
Stunt Race FX - BGM Aqua Tunnel
Stunt Race FX OST - Night Owl

More to come.

Something that I think would be a great idea for Nintendo to let fans get involved and build a lot of hype for the next Smash Bros would be to let fans do some of the music for it. I think this would be a great way to let the gamer community give back to the game they love so much and feel like a real part of the development of the game. Even if it's something like the stage editor where you download the new tracks at least it's something that would let us feel like we're actually contributing to the game itself. And honestly there are a lot of great fan remixes out there that could be submitted and included in the soundtrack that would add a great variety to the soundtrack. I mean spend five or ten minutes on OC Remixes and you'll come across dozens of great remixes that would fit perfectly with Smash Bros. And I know myself personally I would love to hear some stuff by Stemage the boys behind Metroid Metal in the game they make some awesome metal remixes of Metroid songs. But it doesn't stop there, there's The One Ups , Arm Cannon, Power Glove. Lots of actual bands that can lend their musical talent and renditions of classic Nintendo themes to the next Smash Bros game it would be awesome.

@ SSB
I can't believe I forgot the Wind Man theme!

@ Norm
That would be a sweet idea, and a great way to hype these 2 forthcoming games!!!
Well John, Wind Man's theme for some reason reminds me of an 80's cartoon called Clementine, about a girl who travels across the world, time and fantasy to have adventures. As the early episodes focus on her and airplanes, guess it reminds me of it.

Plus, there is a part at which Wind Man's theme sounds like "orange afternoon" music. Anyway, here is a video on Clementine.

And Norm, after what happened last time, I doubt Sakurai would want to hear the world. We just have to keep trying to do whatever noise to get notice. Odd how I feel the people at Sony's Smash listen to fans better.

^ There was a music poll pre-Brawl, although the only people who voted on the poll were in Japan (plus one guy in South Korea).

Also, Sakurai isn't the only man on this staff. There will be well over 100 people involved, and Nintendo likely has employees who spy on us for information on this kinda stuff. ;)

Ahh I missed this thread! Okay, i'll come in here every so often when I can and put up some music. Before I do though...

Star, I personally would have had castle bleck in the top ten, maaaaan that song is sooooooo amazing!

I'm thinking if star adds the suggestions here to his archive we could make a totally complete soundtrack. :-D

Same thing for the final destination theme. I don't know why the 64 master hand versus theme wasn't in brawl somewhere. ^^
Beats me. Maybe for Smash 4, a remix of the Super Smash Bros. Master Hand BGM should be considered for Classic Mode.

This tune has been in my head for awhile now. It would suit the 3DS version :p

Donkey Kong Land - Deck Trek

Also, here's another gem from Sluggers:

they could do like in Brawl: hiring a lot of composers to do many remixes.

and another plus could be DLC music, with new remixes and medleys, as well as some original tracks as well.
