Come on people, they obviously won't reveal the complete list if a new character is associated to one of the stages. We KNOW more characters are coming, why wouldn't more stages be coming too? The new stage count would be pretty low otherwise.

The way Sakurai worded it made it sound as if the total amount of stages was going to be 103, which might imply no new stages.

I don't think Vergeben said anything about Isaac.

People think the Soren leak has more validity now because it predicted that Chrom would be an echo of Roy. (when most people were thinking he'd be an echo of Ike) There's probably also the fact that it mentioned Ken as an echo of Ryu and todays direct confirmed that echos of third party characters are possible now. Isaac is playable according to the Soren leak.

I don't really buy it either but at the same time it's kinda nice to have a somewhat possible "leak" actually include Isaac for once.

Though the fact that it being true would mean we'd get yet another Fire Emblem rep makes me think it's more likely...

Well they're not going to reveal a stage if it would hint at a character being playable before they're ready to reveal the character.

If anything it could point to the remaining handful of stages being dedicated to new franchises or being revealed in conjunction with other newcomers from existing franchises that would probably warrant a new stage. (like Elma or a Gen 7 Pokemon) I don't think we're getting anymore new "nostalgia for nostalgias sake" stages like the gameboy Kirby stage. Whatever new stages we get now will probably be tied to newcomers in some way, or relevant games like Xenoblade X, Arms or Pokemon Sun/Moon.

I get where you're coming from but at the same time I don't think we know enough to be sure how it's going to pan out.

I mean I certainly don't believe we're getting a flood of new stages, we're almost certainly talking about single digits here. (most likely 6 or less based on the stage selection screen)

Do you think we're asking why they didn't reveal all the stages? Obviously they weren't going to reveal stages of potentially unrevealed series, but that wouldn't have precluded them from either being less absolute in their numbering, or revealing the "true" number of stages, without revealing all the stages themselves.

There's a lot of middle-ground, and they went for a perplexing option, should there actually be additional stages.

That leak said that Chrom would have "apparently other effects than flames". I didn't see any "other effects" aesthetically on Chrom aside from the addition of Aether if that counts. Did they mean in terms of sweetspots ala Marth's tipper and Roy's hilt?

Well, I was certain that King K. Rool would come with a Gangplank Galleon stage and he didn't. I think that it's entirely possible other newcomers won't have new stages with them. So even if this is the final stage count, which I don't think it is, it doesn't hurt the chances of newcomers still not deconfirmed.

See, the problem with this is that K. Rool is a fighter of a veteran series with preexisting stages, and Gangplank would be very similar to the already confirmed Pirate Ship. It may just be that newcomers of veteran franchises just don't get new stages, which wouldn't be unheard of.

Yeah, none of the individual claims that came true were ridiculous or uncommon (esp. Simon & K. Rool), it was just luckily including the right combination that still keeps this leak in play.

Not popular enough that this would make sense, especially given how different Soren and Robin are. There are many other more popular FE characters over there as well.

I wouldn't worry about spots, they moved characters around on the mural for these new characters, so he could still have that spot, and it doesn't really mean anything for his chances.

I actually kinda like the idea of Soren being an Echo of Robin. I liked that character in the original FE.

But I mean, I'll take any leak that includes Isaac and seems a bit credible.

and I'd put Banjo & Kazooie in that X slot. Since Vergeben mentioned Minecraft (non playable) content, it's not that much of a stretch to think Microsoft involvement would mean Banjo & Kazooie.

I'd probably put Bandana Dee or Shadow in place of Skull Kid. or Dixie.....or Elma.

Look at Chrom's 20 second character trailer on the website. When Chrom is using Roy's neutral B it has a wind effect on it when he is charging it, also his up smash has the same effect.

Soren would be amazing. He's one of mine favourite FE characters of all time. That said, however, I'm still calling shenanigans on that leak. Chrom was a fairly obvious choice, and I personally figured he would be an Echo of either Ike or Roy.

As for Isaac, we only have roughly four months left, and the closer we get to launch, the more likely we are to get genuine leaks. That said, now that we know Sakurai plans to reveal every fighter prior to launch, I fancy we'll know Isaac's fate quite soon.

I was just reading about this 2006 popularity poll that Sakurai revealed pre-Brawl and Soren is included in it.

So either this leaker knew about the poll or he has more cred than we thought.

Well, now that K. Rool is in, Isaac is my undoubted most wanted. Isaac did well on most every poll I've seen about the Ballot (even though people often try to minimize poll results as skewed, but ehh) which is pretty helpful considering how influential the Ballot seems to be with the choices we've gotten. Isaac received my vote for sure, since I didn't really think K. Rool needed an extra boost. I wouldn't be surprised to see a significant overlap of K. Rool and Isaac fans, so I'm hoping we will see the Golden Boy's support be reenergized now that the King is in.

It does feel like revealing an Isaac Assist Trophy alongside Gray Fox would have made a lot of sense, so I'm slightly hopeful now that Isaac has survived when others have not. If the Assist Trophy isn't back, it obviously can only mean one of two things:
1. Nintendo has heard our cries for Golden Sun, and has graciously answered by making Isaac playable in Smash. We will get an awesome reveal trailer, stage, music, and trophies.
2. Nintendo is literally trying to obliterate all evidence of Golden Sun's existence from memory.
So there are only small stakes at play here.

Ok, I'm joking, but there is a little bit of truth to it.
Anyways, I'm happy with what I've seen of the game regardless, but Isaac would be the cherry on top. Let's make it happen!

Really I can only see two possibilities for Isaac and Golden Sun at this point. Either we get everything or we get nothing, he'll either be playable or we aren't going to have anything Golden Sun related in the game.

You guys don't understand how fast my heart was beating during most of that direct. A feeling of Isaac either being an assist trophy or not shown was getting to my head...

Right now I actually hope and pray that Isaac becomes playable, my hope has increased ten folds! This is the best chance for real! Any moveset will even get me hyped and how I honestly see it is that Isaac has the LARGEST movepool potential. It is not even a debate, he has so much going for him that I can't actually find any characters with a larger or more unique movepool - I mean like common, the guy can throw hands with the master hand( no pun intended)!
Sakurai is also a huge fan of JRPG and loves nostalgia so thats three points!

With this many fan outcries and Sakurai acknowledging less potent characters as even assist trophies in Sm4sh, it truly does get to me, I mean like, isn't it getting to anyone else here =/?

A lot of people believe that he will be playable but I feel like history could repeat itself with a huge rain of disappointments - there is no way that Sakurai does not remember him...

I'm not saying this to bash any of the currently announced characters because i'm truly happy that their fans have received a blessing and finally got the character that they deserve, but Golden Sun truly is one of my favourite games and this goes for a lot of people too. I know it may be selfish that I'm behaving this way but even if he doesn't become a playable character, Camelot should at least know that the fans want another game, especially when promising us we will get one depending on our outcry!

I don't think that is necessarily true. We don't know the reasons he never returned as an Assist Trophy in SSB4. So I have a feeling that if Isaac doesn't make it as a playable character, he will as an Assist Trophy.

I really hope we at least get something in this game. People have gotten mad at me for asking for "yet another anime swordsman" or a "character from a franchise no one cares about", but plenty of people care about Isaac, and imagine how they feel when a series they love gets absolutely nothing substantial after at least having an AT at one point. I'll probably just give up on serious speculation if we don't get anything yet again. That would be such a disappointment.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate is taking a blatantly comprehensive "everyone is here" approach, and I think that could count toward Assist Trophies as well. So I have a feeling that if Isaac doesn't make it as a playable character, he will as an Assist Trophy.

At least add him as an assist trophy, especially after taunting us like that in Sm4sh... T_T

Seeing new people here after the direct wanting to support our Golden Boy after their most wanted characters got confirmed really makes me happy. Thank you, guys! It really means a lot to us!

Anyone remember when all the fans of Ridley, K. Rool, Mewtwo, Isaac and Wolf came together to root for them and were called The Big 5? Now Isaac is the last one of that group to be added.

Agreed. This game seems to be priding itself on bringing everything back. I don't think Isaac is safe from being an AT just because he wasn't in Smash 4, Gray Fox came back already.
