I registered here to ask you guys one question.
Do you think Isaac's moveset without any sword moves can work or no?
Theoretically, yes, Isaac could easily have a moveset without a sword.

TBH, I wouldn't want Isaac's moveset to be entirely swordless though. I wouldn't want sword stuff to have too much presence in his moveset either, of course, but I would find it kind of off if he wasn't using a sword at all. I mean, physically attacking with weapons is still a part of GS, as it is with most RPGs or games in general, and Isaac does have a sword scabbard as part of his design or is usually seen with one, so him not actually using teh sword in said scabbard would look weird (sort of like how it was weird how Ganondorf would have a sword in his taunt but not actually use it in attacks in Brawl and Smash 4).

While all of Isaac's specials and grabs should ideally be psynergy based, and a good amount of his tilt's, aerials and smash attacks should also be psynergy based, his standard attacks and some of his tilts, aerials should still involve a sword in some way.

Sure, some people might hate on Isaac and call him a "GeNeRiC aNiMe SwOrDsMaN" over it, but let's be real, people who hate on Isaac will find anyway they can to hate on him , sword or no, so there's no real reason to take such haters that seriously.

I actually made a move set for him that only involved 4 sword techniques. I could have easily replaced them with psynergies because he has so many different ones, all earth based.

Theoretically yes realistically no.

There's such a wide variety of Psynergy and Djinn where they could easily come up with a moveset without using his sword but it would be weird to not have at least one or two moves use his sword as it's apart of his games and apart of his design. It's not integral to the character nor a necessity but I do think he would use his sword in his aerial moves and maybe tilts.

Honestly Isaac has an amazing moveset in SSF2. Realistically, his mindset would probably be similar to that one.

His Smash Flash moveset has a lot of really cool ideas and is really fun to use but it doesn't really explore nearly enough of the potential that Isaac has. The over reliance of utility psynergy and sword attacks could be toned down by replacing some with actual battle psynergy with more unique and stand out properties. When Isaac joins Smash for real whenever that is, I'd prefer them to be significantly more creative with the vast potential of psynergy and various other elements at their disposal.

Definitely, I honestly hope they don’t use it too much because he can do so much more than just sword attacks. I don’t expect Isaac to not use it at all, but it would be better if he used more psynergy than sword.

I like that one but I’d prefer if he used more real attack psynergy than just utility based stuff with the hands. There’s a lot more to pull from than just that. Also I’m hoping Djinn are involved in his moveset somehow, which SSF2 doesn’t use

I’m hoping dlc pack two is assist upgrades for Shadow, Isaac, skull kid, Krystal, and knuckles. I wish Sakurai and Nintendo realized these iconic, highly requested characters should be playable

I mean it's almost November so yeah

It's probably not gonna be right away though
Here's the thing though, this is the first event after Terry's announcement that has SNK in the copyright at the end. All of the previous ones, including those that took place before this one and after the Terry announcement, lacked SNK in the copyright. This is significant because that means Terry is going to be out very soon, at least much sooner then we were projecting.

I made a unique way to use the djinn in the move set I made for him, similar to shulks manado wheel. You select a djinn on the wheel and it gives you a powerful special ability which then goes on a cool down. And the sword moves are the first 2 hits of his combo, his dash attack (which looks like his normal leap slash in game), his back air, and forward tilt.

My down b is also like that but there is a catch to it. Sorry I didn't get the moveset out on Golden Sunday like I said but things came up which made it difficult to finish it but rest assured it's almost done

I think Isaac is a character where Sakurai could (and should) flex his creative muscles and try to make a swordfighter that doesn't use his sword. Because he absolutely can

I will never stop believing that Sonic's alt stinginess was an obstacle for any sort of echo for him.

Absolutely. Easily. No doubt about it. Yes!
In Golden Sun, you can beat the game without ever using a weapon (sword, axe, mace, etc) thanks to many other options like psynergy, Djinn, summons, etc. Isaac in particular can just control/manipulate the earth at will to beat his enemies (or use other elements via different elemental djinn) and use ultility psynergy to slap his opponents silly.
Granted, it wouldn’t surprise me if Sakurai has Isaac using a sword, but as long as his other abilities are used (especially earth based attacks), then I have no issue with that. But again, Isaac not using a sword honestly takes nothing away from what he can actually do. The sword is more of an accessory that he can easily never use.
Except that you don't really have the PP to spam Psynergy attacks all the time, and after a while Psynergy becomes noticeably weaker at damaging enemies than weapon unleashes. Unless you use Ragnarok and Odyssey, but that's only because it uses the Attack stat. Weapons and unleashes are important in Golden Sun as well. I expect most tilt attacks and a couple of aerials to be sword attacks if Isaac ever makes it in.

Yeah.. It’s been a little bit since I last played a Golden Sun game, but once I got a few Djinn I only ever used them and summons, with an occasional healing spell.

First time I've seen fan art for the infamous Dark Dawn cliffhanger. You guys should check out Xxaylu's account if you haven't yet, she has a ton of great Golden Sun art for you guys to enjoy

She's a great twitter follow, even if half of everything is in Spanish.

Using the Dark Dawn summons as B-roll footage made me remember the stuff Dark Dawn did well. That Cybele summon alone should get an award. Then there's the reference dictionary and red words, generally everything about Sveta, the puzzles.

I'm no DD apologist and it's certainly not up to the standards of the GBA games, but that seeing that picture in particular made me remember the parts of DD that were pretty awesome.

I've always thought that any Venus Adept would play a very ground-based game. You can make a number of strong psynergy attacks for tilts and smashes, but then have weaker and slower aerial attacks using the sword. I dunno how balanced that would be in Ultimate; aside from Little Mac, few characters have more strength in their ground moves than in their aerial attacks.

I'd absolutely expect a djinn-based gimmick as well and would be minorly disappointed with heavy use of the hand/utility psynergy (like the assist trophy does) unless it's grab-related.

Cliffhanger?

Clearly that vortex that opened up and sucked everything throughout all of Weyard and beyond, ending the entire golden Sun universe. Also explaiuns why we never got a sequel. :p

He doesn't have to be a ground specialist ; rather make him a grounded specialist. Make his Psynergy attacks come from the ground, like vines, clay spires and earthquakes, and make his sword and the obviously obvious must have Move his options to deal with everything else. I also think Ragnarok must be included as a Neutral B attack. That attack is extremely iconic to Isaac. Grab Psynergy is a great ideal however.

I'd rather see Ragnarok as a Side Smash, akin to Bayonetta's.
The way I see it, "hand" psynergy would be for grabs, and move could be the third it of his jab, pushing the opponent away just enough to be at the perfect range for a Side Smash to hit on the sweetspot.

Ragnarok definitely needs to be part of Isaac’s moveset somehow. It’s one of the most definitive attacks in Isaac’s arsenal, it wouldn’t feel right not to have it in. I hope we see a few more big attacks like that, probably as stuff like Gaia or Quake psynergy.

So it has been pretty much exactly a year since Isaac was revealed as an assist trophy and this thread went into a meltdown. You guys want to know something amazing, since the day of the November Smash direct from page 742 until today this thread has increased by 239 pages. A lot of threads barely make it past that number in their entire lifetime and we did that in a year even when we were how the Smash fandom likes to label as "deconfirmed". Never underestimate the power we have to still be vocal about Isaac and the Golden Sun series in general, if we keep it up we can get good results. On the Isaac Adepts Twitter account I just made a new thread I put a decent amount of effort in so it'll mean a lot if you check it out

IVA is right, we have come a very long way in the year. Three Golden Sundays, more cosplays, fan merch the lot! We are the sort of fandom that you can be proud of!

Man it’s been a year since that day happened. Sorry I didnt fulfill that promise of being an Isaac cosplayer in the competitive community and all, it’s just that I had to focus on college a lot this year.
Even though that last direct hurt, a year later we really came far as a fan base. Let’s all keep our momentum going and the hope for Golden Sun alive!

I remember raging on this very thread exactly one year ago after Plant was announced. One year later and we have the most hope we've had since that Direct! The best part about hitting rock bottom: there's nowhere to go but up!

Ohh it's been a year. So I was at work and I took a later lunch so i could watch the 40 minute direct. My friends knew I was watching it and knew I was expecting Isaac to show up because of all the speculation and leaks. First two minutes and i'm already terrified because Grinch leak is already deconfirmed with Incineroar, and that meant Vergenben's post of Isaac being an assist was right. Cut to later and there he is with the assist trophies. I was so disappointed and everyone around me could tell. My day was ruined. By the time Piranha Plant showed up I was raging, I couldn't believe it.

So yeah, it felt bad but I tried to represent Isaac any way I could with the online picture and mii costume. As well as posting here. It's beenb nice to see the attention pick up through Golden Sundays and the knowledge of more DLC characters. Let's keep it up, I have a feeling there's still some waiting to go.

I probably already said this earlier, but I’m just really glad that a lot of us took this heartbreaking news and used it for something better. We now have GoldenSunday, Assist Alliance, demand for Isaac is still high, Golden Sun demand is growing, more fan art/crafts/etc have emerged bigger than ever, and so much more. This has been the most fun being a Golden Sun fan I’ve ever have been and it’s only going to get better! You all are awesome!

Been waiting almost a whole year to post these pics. lol

If someone could tell me how to actually embed this tweet on Smashboards that would be awesome..
Unfortunately it's not from Nintendo themselves(?)

I'm not sure if he means the translation or what.

Nintendo didn't say anything about Golden Sun just yet and the whole thing was a misunderstanding but it did show how many people would be pretty hyped for a new Golden Sun and that awareness for the series in Japan is still prevalent
