Well that's also the thing about Adepts, they aren't "mages". Adepts can be any type of people from scholar to soldier to smiths etc. You cannot tell by looking at someone if they are an adept or not. Even though it takes training it does not seem like the standart magic studying you'd see in DnD where a wizard is just that, a wizard who studied magic etc. Seems like there is lot of way to become an adept, given you have enough potential.

Right, but how do you possibly explain that to someone that isn’t looking for a paragraph long answer on what adepts are? You simplify it. Mage is the simplest way to describe an adept to someone that doesn’t know the games. Just like the simplest way to describe Psynergy is magic.

I also don't see the Lip, Incineroar, Medusa, Gardevoir, etc. threads calling out Isaac like his fans are doing Pokemon. It makes more sense with rivals of the same series like Shadow, Tails, and Eggman fighting for that one spot. Promote Isaac and Golden Sun, don't try to undermine Pokemon as not as exciting or big.

Golden Sun and Isaac do have a solid shot, there's reason to be positive.




Funny enough plenty of people in this thread and others who support Isaac only do so cause they heard about him through Smash fandom. Some of his fans are younger than the games!!! So it is important, especially for a dead series, for the fans to not be off putting.

If your goal is to call out every person who happens to not like or care for a potential newcomer, you might as well stop while you're ahead. It happens all the time on these boards so there's no point making it seem like that it's only us Isaac supporters.

I've been on other support threads of potential characters I'd also like in Smash and I've seen them view Isaac as overrated with a generic design and overblown popularity. I didn't jump in on said characters support threads to make some big deal out of it or bash their characters in return in their own support thread.

Nor did this change my mind about said character. If I want a character I want them, I don't care whether the other supporters of said character happen to love Isaac and view him in some heavenly light. It doesn't matter whether a character is from the same series or not, everyone wants their particular supported character in Smash and with Sakurai saying don't expect as many newcomers, tensions are high for a 'spot'.

Memories show up on the Japanese version of the Smash blog. They are added for fighters to reference their debut game, or an otherwise important game in that character's history. In some instances, its the debut game on a Nintendo platform, like Richter getting Dracula X. In others, they reference a later game, like Peach getting Super Princess Peach or Wario getting WarioWare Gold.


Not all fighters get a memory (and one non-fighter, Sukapon, an AT, did get a memory), but most fighters do get memories.

Damn, that's awesome. I wonder why the non-JP blogs don't get them.

Western fans, especially, should get the history of people like Lucas, Ice Climbers, and Captain Falcon

Didn't expect the thread to be up in arms when I woke up. Huh.

Incineroar is a Pokemon I didn't like before I used it in Ultra Sun / Moon, but warmed up to it after then. A lot of the animations give it personality (smiling, etc. which is super rare in Pokemon), and it's a really sturdy and strong Pokemon. I felt comfortable throwing it at everything ingame, unlike Decidueye who got wrecked by the stray dark moves 90% of Alola seemed to have.

The problem with using a Pokemon as a reveal is that people don't root for "another Pokemon rep", they root for their favorites. That means you have a 1/800 chance of a super hype reveal and a 799/800 chance of the reveal being lame and disconfirming your favorite. Decidueye fans would be upset, Gardevoir fans would be upset, the few Gothitelle fans would be upset if a Pokemon that's pretty unpopular got picked over them.

The vitriol N3ON has for Incineroar I use on Primarina. Why the holy hell would I want THAT thing on my team?! I mean, it's hard to discuss all that is wrong with that Pokemon without coming off as insensitive or even homophobic, and I say this as a bisexual.

I think the reason why I like Incineroar is because I'm a professional wrestling fan, and am more partial to the quality heels, or "bad guys" in the industry. Ironically, though, I'd rather the NES game Pro Wrestling get some representation in Smash Bros. before another Pokemon character.

I think for Pokemon they should have looked at the types they have covered. Electric (2), Fairy/Normal, Fire/Flying, Water, Grass/Poison, Fighting/Steel, and Water/Dark.

Missing are Psychic, Bug, Ground, Rock, Dragon, and Ice. I feel like I'm missing one, maybe not.

Fire Emblem usually casts sword wielders in lead roles, some lances and axes sometimes, I wish they did more stuff like Fire Emblem 7 where there are sword, axe, and lance protags. Kind of like how every Pokemon gen has fire, grass, water, and one other iconic pokemon with a different type.

I love Icineroar, he was my starter in SM. Decidueye is not bad either. But I'm still not excited for a pokémon rep because I don't know, I'm very happy with the ones we have so far and the pokémon reps that would actually be refreshing surprises are never gonna happen.

I’m gonna go ahead and put my thoughts out on this whole Pokemon thing.

I’m not a fan of Inciniroar or Decidueyes inclusion because it seems like people are jumping on those assumptions because “it makes sense to include a gen 7 Pokemon” because it’s relevant not because of a massive fanbase. And then the band wagoners came which only made things worse.

Sakurai has proven thus far that we should expect the unexpected. That they’re finally putting in fan favorites and not treating Smash like a glorified advertisement for other games. That’s why I was more willing to believe the Gardevoir leak (and not because it’s my favorite Pokemon) because Gardevoir has had a consistent fan base amongst the games.

That being said I bare no ill will to anyone who wants a gen 7 Rep, I just feel like there are more interesting Pokemon to represent. Where’s our Gen 3 rep? Where’s our Gen 5 rep?
