Well as long as I get to see cute guys in those :vQ-Long You can be certain Waifus and Husbandos are back in Three houses. Echoes (which is my favorite of the 3DS era) was a remake and an experiment, but sold less in the end. After all they did save the series from dying in a way ...

Anyways I dont care if a game has fanservice or not but when the gameplay and story are lacking it's all people fixate on. 3 Houses has considerably toned down the fanservice. Its evident even in the character design. None of the characters appear to be one note anime tropes like in Awakening or Fates either and the map design looks like it isnt pandering to newcomers anymore.
Soul Calibur and Bayonetta have a lot of fan service, but man would it suck to miss out on those great games.

To be fair it had that grey war thingy, especially in Fates and I like tiddies too but the games were just not as good as the old one and had such forced self inserts who would've been cooler as normal protagonists instead of relationship sponges

Yea it definitely looks more mature, and well I'm a persona fan so I don't mind the new art-style at all. I hope we'll see more in the direct.
I'm pretty sure there will be cute guys though I'm not very fond of the ones we've seen so far.

In Bayonettas case, fan service is a part of the game’s charm. Without it’s sex appeal, it wouldn’t be Bayonetta. It’s a similar case with Soul Calibur.
Fire Emblem, however didn’t start as a Waifu Simulator. If you look back to the older games there was almost never any sex appeal. Now suddenly there’s a Tharja and Camilla in every game. Hell even the original design for Tiki was somewhat tasteful. Then she became a babe in Awakening. And then Nowi was a thing *shudders*.

I started with modern Fire Emblem (Awakening) and even I have to agree late game Robin and to an even greater extent Corrin would have done much better if they were not avatars. The marriage system also restricts character actions as all male and female supports have to be romantic to some degree (excusing siblings). I have learned to really hate S supports.

When it comes to pokemon, the only one that might get me kinda excited is Decidueye. It has one my favorite designs when it comes to modern pokemon, and maybe even just pokemon in general. There's also the fact that Vergeben basically made Incineroar the "expected" one ever since saying there'd be a gen VII rep that isn't Decidueye, mimikyu or lycanroc. As someone that doesn't take what Verge says as complete truth or gospel though, I guess I wouldn't completely discard the owl's chances either.
Even if Decidueye is one of my favorites, even its inclusion would just be "okay" to me. I was initially more into the idea of it being in Smash, though ever since Sakruai said "not too expect too many fighters," it made Decidueye lose some luster for me, since there are other characters I'd rather get than it.

Of the modern FE games (Awakening, Fates, Echoes), the only one I've played is Awakening. I enjoyed it, but I didn't like it as much as FE7, Sacred Stones, or my favorite, Path of Radiance.
I never got Fates since I was initially salty about not getting the special edition of the game that had all versions of Fates, which put the games lower on my priority list. With all the good games I had in my backlog, plus some of the mixed to negative reception I heard of the Fates games, I just never really bothered to get them. As for Echoes, I don't know, I just never really got around to it since, again, there's been so many games to come out that had my interest.
I'm thinking I'll definitely get Three Houses though, as long as they don't botch it somehow.

Yeah Fates wasn’t great. I only played Conquest and that was... well it was something. I will say that the gameplay was alright. The maps were varied and often featured a unique mechanic. Almost like a puzzle. And the fact that you can grind in Conquest really made you think twice before doing something stupid. It hurt to lose a strong character.
Story was eh.
Characters were eh.
Gameplay was fun tho, imo.

I have a hate boner for fates, but I agree awakening gets a little too much flack. Echoes would've been a lot better were it not for the EA DLC and Celica's character writing nose diving in act 4. Since Tree House is almost certianly going to be the translation studio for 3 houses, I'm hesitant to say the least

Re: FE, Awakening is amongst my favourites alongside Echoes, Path of Radiance and Sacred Stones, however Fates probably takes the cake as my least favourite FE game for sure. I only got through about like what, Ch 13 of Birthright, but then there was Conquest on top of that and I just decided I'm not gonna keep playing much longer. It just didn't have the charm that kept me playing Awakening or any other FE in the past. Not to mention the Fates cast being a real "Spotlight-Stealing Squad" soured me on getting FE: Warriors. All it needed was Ike and Roy to sweeten the deal I wanted for ages, but nope, have literally all the family members of Fates and oh wait we're saving the pretty important Azura as DLC because we've already got a fair number of them at launch.

I'm the opposite and prefer Fates a bit more than Awakening. I honestly don't hate those games, just don't like how they represent FE to newcomers/outsiders, heck they represent FE most heavily in Heroes, Warriors, and Smash. :/
Honestly I don't even mind one lewd character in every character, its just how the game some what functioned like a generic harem anime in design philosophy at times,. The armor design in Awakening was also just so stereotypically early 2010s JRPG. 3 Houses makes me excited because the armor design is very traditional Fire Emblem yet unique and new.

the fact that 3 houses has an avatar (the green haired guy) worries me. it'll be the same crap before watch. kids that come the hell outta nowhere and make no sense, big bobbies (we prolly just haven't seen her yet like with tharja) and a meh to bad story with little nuance. cause that's what people like now. I mean look at how SoV did, not that great.

I would be genuinely surprised if Pokemon does not get a rep. Every game thus far has added at least 1 new rep. There are so many types that are unused and so much move potential still untapped that it seems a waste to not add one.

I'll also suggest to add Dragon Quest XI to this list. It's a fantastic game I just started after replaying GS1&2 and I can highly recommend it. It's rare we get the juicy turn-based traditional JRPGs in today's gaming world (Octopath included here) so I like to savor them when I can.

I'd add some Atlus games to that list as well if you like turn based RPGS then they have you covered Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, Etrain Odyssey Those are some great games right there I'd pick Persona 3 & 5 but 4 is all right and 1 and 2 are good too

The version for the Switch isn't even out yet, just PC and PS4 for now. The Japanese also got a 3DS version which has a lot of trimming and looks different, but I'm pretty sure the rest of the world isn't getting that. I have the PS4 version and the world looks beautiful. I heard the PC port is decent enough, though I never really liked the idea of playing turn-based RPGs on PC if I could help it unless it was just with a controller.
I'm not sure if anything will be different once the Switch version gets released and I'm really not sure how long it's going to take in order for it to release at this point. Maybe even Spring/Summer 2019? I know you can dump in 60-100 hours easy into this and DQ games always have a satisfying post-game content to them.

Pokemon has a large amount of characters already, 7 unique characters (9 counting Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard as all different characters) for comparison the Super Mario series has 7 unique characters (and 1 echo).
Another thing to consider is that of all the returning franchises in the Smash series Pokemon is the one with the most cuts. Mewtwo, Pichu, Squirtle and Ivysaur have all been cut at some point in the series. Now that everyone is back, Pokemon fans have more options than ever. I think a new pokemon rep would be suitable for DLC but, not for the base game (in my opinion).

Its more than likely an inevitability we are getting a Pokemon base game, unless Sakurai explicitly sticks with the former fan service only from here on forward statement. However...
This can be said with just about any series we have. Especially Fire Emblem with how there are so many other classes of characters that go unused in Smash. Yet I don't think we need another Fire Emblem character (Despite how much I enjoy them). Lyn is a very popular character, though it might be overselling the swordsman motif for most people. There are characters like Hector, Ephraim, Camilla, Tharja, and so on that are all stylistically different weapon wise. (Say what you will about waifus or whatever. But these are popular character choices with very strong moveset potential to be different.)
There are a bunch of bounty hunters in Metroid that go unnoticed. Two favorites in particular being Sylux and Rundas.
There are plenty of fan favorite Mario characters that are still being sidelined. Geno, Waluigi, Captain Toad, take your pick.
Donkey Kong has many characters that are ignored almost entirely. Any one of the other Kongs specifically. Especially Dixie, Funky, Cranky or Lanky.
Wario's characters from whatever series you want to pull from rather it be Land or Ware both are pretty ignored despite what they offer. You got characters like 9-Volt, Jimmy T., Ashley, and on the other side you have Captain Syrup.
I could go on about each individual series for a long time. But these are just some off the top of my head being an outsider to most of these series.
I like how people say Dark Dawn is so bad, yet it is the only game in the series that actually showed us the paths other characters (Kraden, Nowell, Rief in Konpa Ruins) or villains (Chalis and Blados in Belinsk Ruins) take in dungeons... I saw people here wondering how the hell Saturos and Co. climbed on Venus Lighthouse for example.... So a major plus point for DD (actually not many games go out of their way to show the route NPCs take in videogames)...
As for Fire Emblem, I absolutely love Fates but hate the fanservice of modern Fire Emblem... I got into FE through the 3DS ambassador program with Sacred Stones! My top 3 FE games are: Sacred Stones, Radiant Dawn and Fates (all routes, challenging Conquest, emotional birthright and beautiful Revelation)!

I don't hate the Waifu / husbando trend of recent FEs, I actually wish they would expend on that with more variety and options. But it needs to be a bit more ... sophisticated ? Character design play a role in that of course, I mean Camilla is just ... huh, but I think writing should be the priority. I don't have to explain to you guys how awful writing is in Fates in comparison to Echoes (and gaming in general).
I also really dislike the avatar as the main protagonist, you can't build a good plot around something meant to be bland from the start.
