So, apologies if I missed it, but did mimique end up tweeting his Isaac prediction as he said he would upon announcement of a new Direct yet?

You'd think now that SF is getting more than basic DLC treatment, we'd see a SF AT. Hope we still do. I'm guessing probably Chun Li.

I'm banking on it since Alucard and Zero are a thing already. Chun-Li could be an interesting contender to badass female AT-role Lyn's held for years now.

There's also C.Viper who'd be fun too due her moveset. Hmm.

Yeah I was kinda expecting more from metroid. I also found it weird that they didn't introduce dark samus with her battle theme, hopefully it's in the game though

If we did get Morrigan, which would be neat, you'd have to wonder how many of Capcom's IPs are gonna pop up in this game haha.

Skull Kid's reveal (in whatever capacity it takes) will be interesting because it means at least one leaker's reputation is going to be met with a terrible fate.

Why wouldn't we? Seems like if they just avoid Smash in this direct a lot of people are going to be upset. Plus, it's unlikely for them to ignore their biggest Winter game, hell online game, in a direct this close to release.

No but he tweeted a few hours ago saying that he thinks the direct might reveal more characters than usual to make up for a lack of time for reveals. I'm not sure I agree with him there though. I really don't see them announcing more than two unique characters. (unless he's talking about uniques + echoes)

He also retweeted someone elses tweet that was a morse code message (saying "he's in") with a picture of Isaac. Not sure if that counts though...

If we don't get Smash news the backlash will be catastrophic. I think Nintendo is aware of that.

I mean plus it's one of their two tentpole holiday games, and the only one that doesn't regularly insist on its own special Directs instead of being a team player, so... I can't imagine it won't be there.

That does remind me though that I really don't want the Pokemon reveal, that's the only one I can't see getting hyped about.

Personally I think it will be only one character and the rest will be revealed in a smash direct.
It is hard to believe that the last smash direct was less than a month ago.

I've seen justification for every popular character being in the direct tomorrow, so I think it's safe to say we'll all just have to wait and see.

I think it's amazing that even the leakers are split on what's happening, though. We have Vergeben with Ken and Isabelle and Incineroar, Loz relying on Skull Kid, and Pandy going all in on Skull Kid NOT being playable, then we have people like Mimique (and the Smashfaqs meme that is LordRattergun) betting on Isaac

The anti-sword argument is braindead. They use Fire Emblem as a point of reference for any potential newcomer that has a sword in their kit to circle-jerk the idea that their moveset would be uninspired without doing any further research on said character.

I agree, and did you notice that I only had him use synergy moves? I just wanted a nice slap in the face intro for all the naysayers who don't even know the character.

"two unique reveals" is still more than usual for a general Nintendo Direct. General Nintendo Directs usually only announce one Smash newcomer right at the end. E3 Directs are not "General Nintendo Directs", they're bigger than that.


I can see two and maybe an Echo, but I think its a stretch. I'm betting on one, and if they want to reveal more than three more unique newcomers, they'll get announced in a random October live reveal like Robin.

Rattergun seems to be someone who has, in the past, written diatribes about why Ridley and K. Rool were not getting in Smash, pretty much immediately before they got in Smash.

Just a while ago, he did the same for Isaac.

The thing about Rattergun is that on GameFAQS, he made a thread mocking the idea of Ridley being playable shortly before E3, and then RIdley got announced.

He did the same thing with K Rool. He mocked him being in Smash shortly before the August Direct, and as you know, we got K Rool.

This doesn't definitely prove Isaac will be announced tomorrow (guy could just have s***ty luck/timing), but still...

It's bit tempting to ride that kind of comfort... but I dunno how far one will get via rallying on by a naysayer just to hope they'll be proven wrong. Everything's been pre-determined in the development long before we "make the calls", so to speak...

While I am not a fan of Fire Emblem (no venom, just not my style of game) I do agree that they need to put more effort into diversifying the Fire Emblem roster (they have two echo fighters ) I was actually glad Robin got in over Chrom because he was able to show off some of the magic used in the series (sure he still had a sword). I think Fire Emblems roster would be better if it was smaller in number but, greater in showcasing the elements in the series. (magic, spears, axes, swords, maybe even mounts like a horse or a pegasus).

If they add any more FE they need to stop with the swords. Seriously there is an axe (Hector) or spear (Ephraim) lord from the GBA games. Or a really speedy sword style like Lyn even that is very different from the others. Or add a shapeshifter or an archer...it isn't like there is only 1 weapon type in the game.

Well, I read Rattergun's OP.

While you chew, I'm going to be blunt. Isaac simply won't happen. More than that, he cannot happen. Let me explain. I feel like we all need to understand the core concept of assist trophies. These are characters who simply aren't qualified to be main eventers. They're second stringers by nature. By entertaining the notion of Isaac, you're inadvertently advocating for Hammer Bros and SNES Andross. More than that, Isaac became so forgotten that Sakurai considered that it wasn't even worth the effort to keep him as an assist trophy. He had zero presence whatsoever in Smash 4, and that will continue in this game.

"But LordRattergun, what about Little Mac?"

Do you know how hard Little Mac had to work for him to climb out of assist trophy purgatory? It took the greatest series reboot of all time, which was universally beloved and updated his design to modern standards, for Mac to earn his place as a playable character. Isaac does not have that. He has no momentum. Little Mac is the exception that proves the rule:

If you are an assist trophy, you are there for life.

I mean it sounds like trolling.

He doesn't even talk about Dark Samus.
