Sunrise, Sunset - Isaac for Smash Ultimate #GoldenSunday

Well in that case these games would be retro for people that played games on the N64/GBA/GCN era since they're all adults now.
I want him to use all 4 djinn types for each special. After you use it, the djinn will be put in summon mode and then you can summon with the special. After the summon there will be a brief period of unusibility though. Just like in Golden sun.
For the rest of his moves I want at least his smashes and some arials to be Earth psynergy. The rest can be sword attacks.
Catch/move NEEDS to be his grab and throws though!

On page 2, the picture with Procne being summoned has Isaac punching the ground to create an earthquake. Another art piece has Isaac using two hands to psychic lift a boulder. I'd forgotten about these pieces and now I remember Isaac has been shown using his powers doing more than just lifting a single hand and having things happen. He's quite a bit like Toph indeed. There's also artwork of the other characters using their psynergy as well.

Converting magic attacks from JRPG into fighting games is always an interesting process because you basically have to take something that just normally just happens and make it sensible and possible to avoid in some manner. Psyenergy is no different in that regards. Probably why they went with the Move Psyenergy during Brawl when he was an assist trophy. It was a simple concept to translate over.

Pretty much. It seems like the only types of characters Sakurai is willing to consider as "retro" choices are those that debuted in the NES or pre-NES era. Don't forget that the Excite Biker was considered as a retro choice despite actually having a new game at the time of Melee - ExciteBike 64, which was released one year before Melee was released (which suggest that Little Mac could also have been a retro character in the eyes of Sakurai)
So yeah, just because Isaac could be argued to be a potential retro choice doesn't mean Sakurai will view him as such. In an alternate scenario where everything concerning the Golden Sun franchise and Isaac remained mostly the same but Golden Sun 1 was an NES title, that one factor would fundamentally change speculation.

There was a 4chan leak a while ago that said Isaac would be in Smash and GS4 would be announced at E3. It talked about a new fire/rock type bear Pokemon and some kind of stamina mechanic that weakens your rolls and jumps if you spam them enough.
It seemed pretty believable until they said they'd take a picture with Sakurai and post it later. I'm pretty sure they didn't deliver or else news would have spread sooner.

Dream E3 would be a GS4 reveal, followed by a GS Smash rep reveal.
Doing this I think is the best chance of getting GS really into the open and make it a popular or at least semi-popular series for Nintendo.

Yeah, I'm feeling cautiously optimistic too. It would really hurt if the next Golden Sun game comes to us in more time than it took for Dark Dawn to come out.
Things like that reddit poll of most wanted games for the Switch that had Golden Sun in the top 20 make me feel hopeful for the series' future. If it still manages to be that popular, I'm hoping Isaac managed to place fairly high among first party suggestions on the ballot. That, combined with the fact that Sakurai definitely knows he exists since he had an AT, could help him get into the game, I think.

While I'm admittedly not too confident in Isaac's chances, it's still nice to see that he continues to have a lot of support, even if it's not as vocal as it was during the ballot days. I still see him coming up on most wanted lists across YouTube, and even comments on lists where he doesn't show up mention him. People haven't forgotten Isaac, and I hope Sakurai is one of those too. At the very least, I hope he brings back Isaac's assist trophy if he doesn't become playable.

please add me to this list.Isaac is by far and away my most wished for character and I was heartbroken when he wasn't added in Smash 4. Back before in the character speculation thread for Smash 4, I would lurk all over this thread daily to read about others' Isaac enthusiasm. This time, I'd like to start joining in on some of the pre-game discussion and hype.
While I'm not holding my breath for it, Isaac would make a tremendous addition to the cast. A lineup that seems quite frankly incomplete without a Golden Sun rep (Advance Wars too, Sakurai hates the GBA for some reason). It's always seemed to me that he's basically been maligned by a bad timeline of smash games since the games always seem to release at the wrong time for Golden Sun.
Let's all just use our telepathic psynergy on Matchbox Hero Sock or Rye until he's brainwashed with an Isaac inclusion in the game.

Yeah, Isaac just can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to timing. Our best hope is the ballot or that he was planned and that’s why his AT was cut. I wasn’t personally around for Brawl, but I’ve heard that his AT was one of the more popular ones. Maybe Sakurai cut it to leave an opening for him to become playable. We can only hope that was the case, and that he will finally get in.

Not gonna lie, at the risk of sounding salty, I was a little sad to see that yet another FE character had made it into Smash before Isaac, when Corrin was revealed. That’s all in the past now, though. Moving forward, I’ll take whatever we can get. I just hope Sakurai recognizes us enough to at least give Isaac a mii costume or something if he doesn’t get in.

Maybe it's a dumb opinion, but I wouldn't want a Mii Costume for Isaac. For me, it would represent the final nail in the coffin -- Sakurai saying "alright, I acknowledged Isaac, but he's not getting a full character." It would make me even more hopeless for, say, DLC, or even the next Smash, whenever that may be.
It is a bit much, innit.
Being a DLC costume doesn't have any bearing on the future chances of a character. In fact, if anything, it'd probably be an acknowledgement of popularity. At least when there aren't assets to reuse. Inklings were Mii costumes. There were Mii costumes of several characters already on the roster.
And we'll see if anything comes of K. Rool.

It probably means nothing, but I still don't see the obsession with getting a Mii costume, especially with someone like Isaac whose main attraction is the **** he does, not the way he looks.

If K. Rool gets in as a playable character, then yeah my take was definitely wrong. However, I think it's a little different for the Inklings since they're so current.
I don't think anyone is obsessed. But some people would've preferred Isaac get a Mii costume over nothing. And you could really make the "function over appearance" argument for anyone, it's subjective.
But a character's role in one game isn't inherently some perpetual tether. If it was, Charizard and Little Mac would've been stuck as assists. Hell, Mewtwo and Lucas were trophies in Smash 4 before they were characters. Dedede and Ridley were stage elements one game, and took new roles two games later. Sakurai re-evaluates upon each new game, it'd be illogical if he didn't. This isn't even specific to Isaac, it's just how things work.

Takamaru's also another popular contender for playable, and even though he was de-confirmed as an Assist Trophy, he still got a Mii Costume. Given how the Swordfighter can replicate Takamaru to a decent degree and that he's still a popular request here and there, Taka's also another character to look out for when it comes to characters getting promoted. That said Takamaru didn't get in initially because of lack of overseas recognition/popularity, so who's to say that won't happen again.
Though here's hoping Isaac and Takamaru get their chance at playable this time...

Let's be real here, subjective opinion or not, Isaac doesn't have a whole lot of distinctive characteristics visually. This may be a far off assumption here, but I doubt the appeal of his character is because of his goldenrod hair. Outside of the whole 'senpai noticed me' stuff, getting a Mii costume wouldn't be all that exciting imo. Of course feel free to feel differently, but I just don't see the appeal in playing a character that just looks like Isaac. I want the powers.
That's how I feel about all Mii costumes tbh they just aren't a good consolation prize, and I know, I know, they dont have to be the end all be all, but the reality is for most off brand characters that's what Mii costumes end up being.

Would you guys play an Isaac-themed costume Mii?
I wasn't really big on Miis in Smash 4, still kinda don't like them, but I understand they have really simple movesets thus made a good addition to represent one of Nintendo's interfaces.
Even if I got like a Sveta themed Mii (most wanted newcomer) I think I wouldn't use it.
At first it'd be like, 'Oh, cool I guess.' then after the fact that it's just a coating, no character substance underneath, I think I'd be pretty angry or just be super down in the dumps.
Maybe I can get an opinion from someone who likes the Miis as characters?
Getting a Mii costume is probably like a 'level' aboveagetting a trophy, so at least she'd get some recognition.
But it'd leave a bitter taste, you know?

I wouldn’t play a mii in general. The only reason I brought up mii costumes is because, if Isaac doesn’t become playable, his AT probably isn’t even going to come back. At the very least I’d like to see some kind of recognition that us GS fans exist, which the mii costume could do.

I'm right in the wheelhouse with you on this one. Though, I like all of the characters introduced in the past smash, I had a veritable salt party on multiple character reveals, especially for the DLC ones. The subconscious part of you wants to just say "what about Isaac?" whenever we got Corrin, Ryu, Bayonetta, etc. Not to even bash those characters because I think they're cool as well and they were added for far differing reasons, just an initial gut reaction. My desire meter is too high.

I Mean Isaac would work Fundamentally Different enough to Warrent his inclusion; since He mostly uses Venus-elemented Powers(Grass, Vines, Ground, and Rock) and Psynergy Hands, Unlike just another Swordfighter from the same dang Franchise[Though TBH, I Love the concept of a Counter Down-B; that's my Favorite kind of Move; That's right, I Like Counters; Come at me, If you have a Problem with Me Liking Counters, then(In Xander Mobus' Announcer Voice) SETTLE IT IN SMASH!!
