With the Mario Golf trailer out, can we dream about it even just a little Teaser of Golden Sun At E3?

And that's awesome Golden Sun is trending

As lovely as it would be to see a new golden Sun be shown at E3 or sometime soon, I have a really hard time seeing it happen unless another company is working on it or assisting with it, which I also have a hard time seeing.

But hey, this is one instance where I wouldn't be upset to be served up a nice, steaming plate of crow.

Recently they revealed a remake to Dragon Quest III using the Octopath HD-2D style which is another potentially awesome direction to take a Golden Sun remake. I'm even seeing people on Twitter make comparisons with Golden Sun with the new battle angle (kind of takes you back to the Rathalos Tweet days haha)

Can't reply to your poll on Twitter itself (don't have an account), but if I could guarantee the remake's quality I'd probably actually want it to go the ARPG route. That may not be the most popular option, but I just tend to prefer ARPGs in general, and I'd love to see how the djinn & summon system would be implemented in an ARPG, as well as what kind of battle styles the characters would have to make themselves distinct from each other.

If I had to pick a turn-based system, I think it'd have to be either full 3D or HD 2D, though I admit I have trouble visualizing the unique "3D-esque" sprites as "HD" and thus lean more towards full 3D.

It looks good. BUT
I don't really want that for GS. Let me explain:

2H HD games we had so far, Octopath and DQ3 remake handle battle animations very differently. Characters barely move, screen is almost static and it's all 3d visual effects. Which works ! Even for GS having a different type of visual (3D effects for magic whereas the "world" is 2d sprites) really brings a "out of this world/supernatural" feel to magic. Especially if stuff like "normal fire" is a sprite too.
However, GS combat is much more dynamic visual. Camera pans and snaps around, characters move to strike etc.

And then there is the issue of overworld navigation. 2D HD has terrible depth perception because of the camera angle AND "flat" characters. doing puzzles would be a pain, and swapping to a higher camera angle in puzzle rooms (which can be...anywhere since almost everything is interractable) would make the world look weird.

So while I adore this visual style, and the idea is nice. I absolutely do not want that to be Golden Sun Remake/4.

Edit: HOWEVER I would adore the reverse. Have spell effects be 2d "draw" or sprites/detailed pixel art.

A straightforward HD-2D style in the exact same vein as Octopath would probably not work, but taking some cues from it and going with a more polished 2D look for a remake instead of full 3D would be something I'd be down with.

2 weeks left to see what Nintendo will deliver us. Still hopeful that they'll finally announce a new GS game, but I'm prepared to not expect it either. Still, it would be awesome if we did get it.
Smash speculation is crazy. But every time many think it's this "X" character, they turn out wrong. I'm hoping it happens again, in a good way of course. Just saying, Isaac as the next DLC character will throw everyone off and I would LOVE to see that happen. These next 2 weeks are going to be...interesting, to say the least.

Last I heard, they were working on both Xenoblade and a new IP.

Characters I wish for the Fighter Pass: Isaac & Doom Slayer.
-Though Isaac is truly all I need to feel satisfied with Smash forever. There are a lot of characters I would like to see make it, but Isaac is THE final character for me to have.
-Doom Slayer is my #1 "Impossible" Most Wanted. I don't think he'll EVER get in so I'm not going to get any hopes for him unfortunately. BUT, if he does, be aware that I will be extremely happy. And if he got in before Isaac, his inclusion would soften the blow that I got when Isaac became an AT.

Characters I think will actually make it: Lloyd, Isaac, FE/Pokemon/Mario character.
-Believe it or not, Isaac actually has a chance from what I've seen happen lately with Pass 2 for several reasons. Is he a guarantee? Absolutely not (but I freaking WISH! lol). But I will say I'd be a fool to count him out.
-With the final Mii Costume from Smash 4 STILL not around, Lloyd is DEFINITELY getting in! But as what is the real question. As a Fighter or as a Mii Costume? Guess we shall see soon.
-For FE, there is a supposed rumor of a remake on the horizon and Sakurai is a big FE fan after all. He can easily add another if he wanted to.
-Pokemon just keeps selling so Nintendo would absolutely want to put in another like they always have.
-Mario is a no brainier. But who could they add is the kicker. We can easily say Waluigi, but with Piranha Plant being a thing, Sakurai can easily surprise us.

A brand-new one? Probably not. But I could see a remake of one/both of the Jugdral titles being shown off at E3, with or without a release date, giving Nintendo the perfect excuse opportunity to slip in another FE character.

I'll admit I'm being extremely pessimistic and it's unlikely to happen even if a Jugdral remake does get announced, but I'm unwilling to completely put it past Nintendo/Sakurai either.

If it's an FE remake as expected, then they probably wouldn't need the development to be that far along for them to pull a character from it (since the character would be an existing one).

However, I don't expect them to pull a Smash character from a remake except in very special circumstances. I don't expect Fire Emblem to factor into the rest of Smash DLC, but don't fully count it out.

If I had to guess the two remaining DLC packs, though, then I would say Lloyd Irving at E3 and a Pokémon (say, Rillaboom) left for a couple months down the line.

I have practically never been less hyped for a Nintendo E3. Golden Sun is off the table. Isaac in Smash is off the table. A classic style Paper Mario is off the table. etc., etc.

I'm very much looking forward to BOTW2 and Pokemon Legends: Arceus so it's not like I don't have any big games I'm really looking forward to, I just can't see this E3 adding any extra Nintendo games to be excited about at all. =(

An all-new Fire Emblem is not out of the question, though that would likely come next year if such a thing is in development.

IS only had a small crew working on Three Houses. Koei Tecmo handled a good 95% of development if not more. And Paper Mario doesn't use up their entire workforce, so they had to have been working on something while KT was doing TH and the Paper Mario team was doing their thing.

Kind of wild to think today might be the final character announcements for Smash. As unlikely as Isaac and Golden Sun feel, I still massively appreciate all the love everyone has shown here for the franchise, and, worst comes to worst, we could always play some Mii Swordfighter matches online to enjoy what little we did get this go-around. Hope today's Direct is fun either way, and looking forward to celebrating the anniversary later on!
