Speaking of Xanadu, doesn't look like PF has been having the greatest luck as of late, which is kind of upsetting to see.

I'm pretty sure in Japan anything less than a regional doesn't exist.

japan is different they are olaying for fun mostly in a semi compeitove environment. regionals and nationals are where real comoeition is.
combine that with great internet and a smaller country for travel and players are more familiar with each other leading to upsets that seem surprising to us maybe when they shouldnt. its hard to reamin the top player for long when so mangplayers have recently had a chance to get familiar lately.
and i believe someone in the thread covered it but double elimination isnt very common there. outside of street fighter it isnt a common way to do tournaments.
smash is among the global games in the world not every culture is like na or europe. its ridiculous to act like it is. (heck in the middle east customs are used in serious competition.)

I wanna say CEO seeding looks a bit fraudulent but given the inconsistencies we keep seeing it probably won't be a big deal in the end. I just don't really see why MVD or Umeki are seeded higher than Reflex or Joe.

Insanely hyped to see Kirihara and KEN in the US. Both could go really far at EVO and I'm excited to see it. With Komo, 6WX, Wrath, StaticManny, SuperGirlKels, Seagull Joe, and now KEN (#2 Sonic in the world) going to EVO, I think that EVO will be a real test of Sonic. There's no excuses of representation here with Komo back to Sonic most of the time and all of his other heavy-hitting players in attendance.

Hope the EVO attendees all have a pocket Ike or Cloud with that many Sonics showing up.

Would say pocket ZSS but I don't think that's the type of character you normally pocket.

Tier 8 players (65th-128th) were randomized so you get any 2 of those players in 1 pool, they are both in tier 8. A lot of the inconsistencies in these pools were due to late dropouts, scheduling (people in multiple events), and regional conflicts. Until I helped with the seeding for CEO I had no clue how many things you have to juggle

People have been highly overrating the guy and talking too highly of his character's positives but I'm genuinely believing Trela has a strong chance of making a good run at CEO. I could see him making top 4 without issue unless he plays ZeRo/Dabuz/Japan early.
Smash 4's top players overall are too aggressive to do extremely well against Ryu.

He's projected to play Ally in winners semis, so it isn't really definite he will win.

Ally has to beat Trela and Mr. R who he's more or less even with post patch to get there. I would say that his spot in WS is pretty volatile.

Addendum: zero has to beat Tweek then Ally to get there, and Dabuz has to play Abadango r3. Nairo arguably has the 'easiest' route to WS, but he has to beat Zinoto and Larry Lurr to get there.
