They're both good representations of their franchises. The fact of the matter is that we're on the 4th generation, not the 1st.

Also, Sakurai is incredibly disrespectful to the Pokemon series, so it's not surprise he let go of Mewtwo. He pisses over that franchise almost as much as he does the Metroid franchise.

The only reason I hate legendaries is because EVERYONE uses them. I like originality.
Mewtwo falls under the legendary characteristic. I just don't like legendaries. (Except for Darkrai, since barely anyone has him.)

Well in Melee, most of EVERYONE uses characters like Fox and Shiek because they're top tier. Do Fox and Shiek get complained about as much as Mewtwo does from the Pokemon games? Not from what I've seen.

I sure as hell haven't see people say they hate Fox and Shiek like I've seen people do against Mewtwo.

The bottom line is, any Pokemon can beat any other Pokemon, there being only some suggestions. A Charizard could be a same level Blastoise. A Beedrill can beat a same level Pidgeot. It all depends on strategy. Types shouldn't hold anyone back, completely.

But even so, the likelihood of Blastoise beating Charizard (for example) is higher than the other way around, and although it's possible for any Pokemon to beat any Pokemon, I use the likelihood of who will win (by taking stats, movepool, etc. into account) when I say ___ would beat ___.

Nonetheless, you're right that types shouldn't hold any Pokemon back completely.

Yeah. I can agree that Sakurai deserves a hell of a lot more blame for Mewtwo getting kicked out than the Pokemon that replaced him.

I do at times, and not just because of my Ridley fandom.

I only said Lucario was random because he's non-legendary and hasn't really made much of an impact on the series like Mewtwo has.

It's a pretty good bet that most of the people that are Lucario fans only started playing Pokemon around the time Ruby and Sapphire came out, and knew nothing about the 1st and 2nd generations that introduced Mewtwo and others of the like.

That was what caused Mewtwo's dramatic decrease in popularity (along with getting toned down too much in Melee), but all and all, Mewtwo's not some random 1st generation Pokemon (like Onix, Sandshrew, and others are).

It doesn't matter what generation we're currently on. They still included Pikachu, Charizard, Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Jigglypuff. No reason to take Mewtwo out of the picture.

Sakurai hasn't disrespected the Pokemon series from what I've seen, but I can certainly agree that he has toward Metroid.
