She says she wants to play it against me! No bull**** either. She really is into the whole wii mote thing, she thinks it would be a fun activity to do together.

I know I can buy it myself, but she said she would kill me if I did that, also I have to spend my money on her as well. What sucks is her birthday is the day after christmas. So its kind of like a "lump sum" for presents for her.

Actually I was able to pick one up today. I had a conversation with her and she said I could get as long as I don't open it (fine by me).

I got one at a gamestop by me. The manager there kind of screwed up and sold black friday stock NOW. He was able to sell a few systems after he promised customers that he could. He might actually get in trouble, and I kind of feel bad, but oh well.

For anyone else looking, I would check stores TODAY. You might get lucky

Thanks to all of those who contributed something to this thread, I hope it stays open for others who need a little help getting the system.

Hey all,

I'm kinda new to the board, and I have a question to anyone here who has bought a Wii.

HOW DID YOU DO IT? I want one, and I convinced my girlfriend to get me one for Christmas, and I need to help her figure out a way to get it before Christmas.

I guess my main question is, what stores get the most shipments, and when do they usually get them? Is it possible to reserve one? For anyone who works retail at a store that sells games, how many units do you usually get in a shipment?

I'm sorry if this is a pain in the *** question, I just don't want my girlfriend to **** this up.
YOU asked your Girlmfriend FTW. i would'nt recomand asking your GF because she might want something big in return.

No offense, but I really don't need advice from a random forum goer about my 3 year relationship with the girl I am going to marry within a year or two.

I'm honored that she wants something big in return, and I'm happy to oblige her.

AGAIN, this thread is about obtaining the nintendo Wii, not about my relationship

Your eyes happened to drift to my location, I see.
got mine bout 3 weeks ago, never even thought about getting it before.
went to best buy at some random *** time, turns out they were just putting a few on the shelves. got one very haphazardly. next day went back, lots of people asking for em but no go for those. very easy and lucky. very lucky.

galaxy is the only game i have and it is the best game until brawl.

Use the internet. Most sites, like Amazon.com for example, give free shipping on big orders. The Wii costs $249.99 + tax (here it's 8%) $19.99 = $269. Whereas online, with the shipping waiver, you are looking at $249.99 + no gas costs + no ******* employees = Win.
I used ebay to get mine...and it worked. So I suggest to look at it for yourself.

My mistake... it seems in order to qualify for the pricing you must first be an amazon member then vote for the deal you like(Wii $79,40GIG PS3$139,XBOX360 ARCADE $99) if you vote for it (THE WINING PRODUCT) you have a chance of being one of the one thousand randomly selected people by amazon to purchase it at the promotion price on thanksgiving. Smart money is on the wii.

I saw that deal as well, they had a Plasma TV for cheap as well. It sounds like a really good deal, but I doubt that anyone on these boards will be able to take advantage of it, given the sheer number of people who probably signed up for them.

I actually walked into the nearest GameStop, on a whim, and asked if I could buy a Wii. The guy at the counter said yes. Mind you, this was in December, when you couldn't get a Wii anywhere. I consider my adventure pure luck. Maybe the luck'll be with you too.

lol, I couldn't find a wii either, I'd been searching since launch date lol , until about a month ago I walked into a wal-mart to get some headphones (mine always break >.<) and just wandered over to the game section, looked inside the glass case and saw a big box that said wii sports, looked at the price and it said $249.99....so I thought to myself "why the **** would they be selling wii sports for that much!?" then took a closer look and realized that it was the actual wii, and there 3 of them. So I got my dad to loan me the money for it since I didn't get paid till the beginning of november. I got it w/mario party 8. since there really weren't any games that interested me. At first I thought that having the wii would be awesome, lol I was/am a bit dissapointed because I don't really see any good wii game for me, they all get old to me waay 2 fast. I have Bleach:shattered blade, budokai tenkaichi 2 (borrowed), Super paper mario (borrowed). In all truth, I've really only played the wii about 10 hours since I have gotten it. Then again, I read somewhere that nintendo is not going to be increasing wii production for the holidays (will post link later) and it would have been a big pain in the *** to get a wii before brawl comes out. So now I'm left playin gthe waiting game like everyone else who has a wii XD.

I had a friend who worked in a Hollywood Video/ Gamecrazy and he told me they just got a shipment of Wii's in. Went in the next day and got one. They said they've had like 3 on hand all the time for the past couple of months. This was like 2 months ago... Granted because of tuition I haven't been able to enjoy my Wii, but soon enough.

I'm sure they'll be kinda hard to find now since it's the holiday season and all those smart people buying presents early.

I had no problems with Twilight Princess on the Wii, I thought aiming was a lot easier, especially with the bow, I had problems with the bow in OoT, mostly at the part in Gerudo Fortress...on the horse, with the jars. On both the N64 and Gamecube controllers.

Congrats on getting the Wii! ^_^

I didn't realize people were still having difficulty getting them....

part of the problem is where you live...NJ

all up the mid-Atlantic/northeast coast is highly populated and thus impossible to get a wii

especially when you're competitions with desperate, work all day, parents that are will do anything to get some type of credit from their neglected children.

Well, I don't mean that the game is easier, I mean on both versions you'll be using the targeting system when you fight enemies. But it helps when you can't target, like shooting that pole that was really high up in Kakariko Village, or when you're on Epona fighting the Bulblins/Bokoblins (orcs) that ride on boars, and they get out of your targeting range. I really enjoyed the wii controls though. I like them a lot better than a gamecube controller.

It's a great game though, playing through it again is always fun. I've gone through it twice (with different names to prove to my bro they weren't copies of the same save), and I'll probably go through it again over winter break ^_^

I never got a perfect on that thing ;-; I got as close as possible, but never perfect.
And I know what you mean Livvers, I've never gotten the Biggest Quiver on that game, and I've got like 3 versions of OoT (N64, Master Quest, and the Virtual Console) and beaten it multiple times on each one. I've gotten EVERYTHING ELSE though....everything down to the last Skulltula, just not the Biggest Quiver >.>

I went to Target, picked up a Wii, walked to the register and paid for it.

I see plenty of them at the PX, too.

I guess it depends with the current supply and demand locally. I know that the stores by me have a Wii but they are saving them for black friday.

Most likely gamestop/eb games have their stock in now, it would not be a bad idea to check it out to see if you can persuade someone to tell it to you.

I got everything in the game(including the Hylian Loach), I just never got perfect scores on the bow and arrow training ;-; I wish I could go and replay it(though I'd probably give up pretty easily).

To get a perfect score in archery, I shot a target to get my bearing, put a piece of clear tape on the TV screen and sharpied an aiming reticule on it. Never missed with the bow again.
