if things don't work out at maximus's house i'd be able to house 2 - 3 people at my place for the night before journeying back to pittsburgh.

I am sure that my parents wouldnt mind a few people but not too many, so if there are a lot some will need to stay at renth's place. I will post again if it is all right.

Hm..a Crew battle huh?

I'd offer to house some people, but my mother is a bit crazy about this stuff for some reason.

Only people I've ever been able to house here were Cape and Kaotical, after about a 3 hour discussion, and that's given she's already met them ._.

However, I should be able to help coax Renth's parents to letting some stuff go on at his house, so that's my good news. Plus I can just walk up to Renth's....

Either way, can't wait for this to happen. See you guys then.

is there any concrete information about this yet?

1. where exactly is it (specifically how far from pittsburgh)
2. who can drive there (if nakamaru's the only one driving we have problems)
3. what day would it mostly be on

Renth, make an offical thread for all the information when you get it and so we can spam that place with all of our questions instead of the SCS and so all the information is in one place.

I know double post, but they don't go together so w/e.

It has come to all of our attention that we have a lot of good smashers of equal quality in our area. They all want to form a crew, and we are going to have one large *** crew if we do that. So i propose a challenge system (once we get the rankings or something up) where someone who wants in the crew can challenge the lowest person for their spot in the crew. MLG tournament rules apply.

That is just an idea however. I realize that if we do do this, it could come back to bite us (or me since i came up with the bright idea. -_-; ) in the a$$. With people getting pissed and johns left and right for losing their spot, but i really don't see any other way of keeping our crew stocked with the best players for traveling to tournaments. Seeing as people will always get better and the skill tree with be in constant flux.

So let me know what you think, and since most crew members wanting to join show up at Fridays anyway. We can always have challenges happen every Friday. Also this will prevent from people challenging people every waking moment to take a spot.

I'll work out the other fine details later after we decide wtf we are doing.

Ladder system exists if we want it to or not. Just do we pay attention to it or not. Idk, im just trying to think of how we can do this fairly and easiest.

That and i was bored in class so thats what i came up with.

thats true. I mean the question is whether to let it have full influence or little influence. It doesnt matter to me. Logic tell us who an approximate "A Team" will be. I guess that this friday should be used to either confirm that / decide on something. I mean its not like we're all not cool with each other (from what i know) so if worse comes to worst we can just vote for the meat of the crew and then tie loose ends with matches. Like if theres a tie or disagreement about who should get the last spot / second to last spot in the lineup, then the two would have a match like a best out of whatever.

since we already have a relatively large base I say that we run 5 in a crew battle initially. However this also depends on renths crew as well. from what i know he has

Hahaha, I like the logic Kevin. That alone is enough to make me agree.

Actually, I've adopted a neutral stance towards a ladder system in SCS. I don't really care if we implement one or not; if we do, challeneges should come no more frequently than every 2 weeks, in my opinion. MLG rules, best of 7 or so, yadda yadda.

But with SCS at a solid number of 7 right now, I feel at this point we should probably begin to hold off on adding any more numbers/members, unless they've proven uber-pro otherwise.

Anyways, I should be free this Friday, looking forward to it.
First official SCS Evolution gathering??

I'll be there this friday, but recording will be at a stand still until my school fixes my **** laptop.

Also this friday we need to figure out who exactly is going to the Renth's Crew vs SCS:E. From what i've herd I'm taking Taki and Swift, and if K_walk goes then he might be taking Kevin and Wes.

Ouch. Well, looks like my chances of getting involved have just drastically diminished. Though, hell, even if I could outmatch a lower ranking crew member, I'm not precisely sure I'm fond of the idea of getting myself in by depriving another dedicated player of the spot. I guess I'll have to see what happens, but from both my own position and a greater neutral stance, I'm not very fond of the idea -- it all seems rather carnivorous. :ohwell:

Oh well... I'll shut up.

Yeah those are my crew members i'm not certain if Soldier is going to be home at that time and someone better be giving maximus a ride if he doesn't have one.

Were having everyone up saturday right?

KEEP IN MIND WE HAVE LIMITED SPACE DON'T BRING TOO MANY PEOPLE IF THERE ARE TOO MANY THERE WILL BE ISSUES.
That and i don't think i'd be able to host more the 2 - 3 people at my place that night depending on maximus's parents letting everyone stay.

Ehh, now I feel bad. Especially after having it being depicted as "carnivorous" and all...

Mayybe sweetooth will squeeze in a couple more.

Sorry, I don't want to go around attempting to dictate the system with little "oh the humanity"-esque anecdotes. I just think the whole challenge system could create a host of problems, as well as some displeasure across those it impacts.

I wouldn't want to watch somebody get knocked out of their crew knowing it was at my hands, and I'm certain I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end either.

Well, are we talking about knocking someone out of the crew, or just knocking someone off the roster for the next scheduled crew match?

I suppose I'm not a big fan of knocking people out of the crew, but I'm ambivalent about the idea of a general ladder system that doesn't knock people out. The problem is that either you spend a lot of time doing and redoing the ladder (which is fine if everyone's cool with it) or the ladder will be really inaccurate. Especially once you get past the top few players, the skill level of most people is pretty fluid and apt to change and rearrange. Last incarnation of scs, we did ladder matches and within a couple weeks, the ladder was completely inaccurate (I'm still officially better than jordan --- HA).

Frequent ladder matches (that don't lead to expulsion) are fine with me, but for now I'm more interested in improving than winning, so I may not be representative. If other people have an issue with this type of system, I suggest just waiting until we have a crew battle lined up and then doing a round robin with whoever is willing and able to go. Should be doable.

i think that just by playing with each other a lot period, most of us (read: those of us that have been playing @ duquesne regularly) have a very good grasp of where we stand relative to each other. if someone is clearly better than me, i have no problems admitting it and if someone is comparable, i have no major issue with yielding to them in any particular match either

i honestly bet that if you got most of us to just send in a silent ballot ranking the bunch of us it would come out with approximately the same results, and i also bet the results would likely be different than if you had taken the same poll 2 months ago

basically, we don't need do-or-die matches that determine your status; we are well aware of what everyone is capable of (and my perceptions of people DO change as they improve and we continue to play) and flukes do happen

I want to expect better of you, but I know not to
I aggree with the people against the ladder, but I'm struggling to find a middle ground that lets us field the best crew possible.

That being said. . . who really cares? We should just field whoever we can, and if we find that we always have an eccess of people, we can just split into two crews and have no hard feelings. This is a game, and it's all about fun, and frankly, I don't think we should get so hung up about how people view Pittsburgh that we should start getting at each other's throats with some sort of challenge/knocking players out system. When we decide to travel for stuff, we just field whoever we can with whatever rides are available, and just let the smasher's we recognize as serious players from Pittsburgh wave the SCS banner for better or worse. This is just a game, and the less drama we drag into it, the more fun we can all have just playing the game.

In other news, saturday has gone from free to iffy for me, so I'm by no means certain for heading up to Renth's place. I'd currently say that I should be counted out, but there's a small chance that I'm good to go.

We dont have any ladder system of challenge rule and probably never will. It was just one of my ideas as to what we could do. Just come friday and play. Worry about that stuff later.

On a slightly different note for a moment...

Regarding this Friday: I have gone half-way to hell and back trying to organize some transportation to finally get to Duquesne, especially seeing as with the reformation of SCS, this is one night I really for the life of me just don't want to miss. After trying every viable option, I'm still missing one link in my transit.

At the end of the night, I'd need about a 15 minute ride to Verona.

If there is anybody that I could hitch a ride with out to Verona at the end of the night, it would make the entire difference between whether or not I could attend. I really hope somebody could find it convenient and be generous enough to lend me a ride. It would mean a ton to me for getting me there.

Hope some one can help.

I've got so many tests this week, I don't know if I'm gonna have time to sleep, so I'm not sure if I'm going.
But if I do go, I can give you a ride no problem.

If you can't get anything else more certain, I'll let you know whether I'm going as friday approaches.
