Some updates on the PTR 1.3...

o Ghost
+ EMP now drains up to 100 energy instead of all available energy. The effect on Protoss shields remains unchanged.

+ Infestor
# Health increased from 90 to 110. -- This change has been revoked.
# Now fires a missle instead of being instant cast. -- This change has been revoked.

I like the EMP change. I always thought it was a little overpowered against P to remove all energy as well as damage shields.

i was sorta looking forward to the missile cast of fungal growth, but i guess it would make it nearly impossible to fungal phoenix

i was sleeping while you messaged me. I was on for 6 hours when i woke up, but you didnt sign on. I close tonight and open tomorrow so i'm not sure how much i will be online the next couple o days.

- Is there a link or a list or a webpage that shows all the data on things like structures, build times, costs, etc. and is up-to-date with the most recent patches?

- I'm going for a very defensive turtle style. Would it be more beneficial to focus on weapon upgrades first, or armor upgrades for units? IMO, I think weapon upgrades would be more beneficial since Terran turtling is composed of using buildings/bunkers to defend.

Infantry typically get weapon upgrades first, since low HP and stim isn't going to get much benefit from +1 armor. Vehicle upgrades tend to be more personal preference, as a single +1 to weapons lets Siege Tanks one-shot Zerglings regardless of carapace upgrades, while +1 to armor really helps for survival of your expensive mech units, especially the Thor.

Turtling isn't very effective, generally speaking. You shouldn't go into the game with turtling as your overall gameplan, even though there are timings that require you to. Unlike smash where a positional advantage can only be beat by your opponent's positioning, in starcraft advantages are threefold; economy, tech or army. If you turtle, you basically put your map presence to nothing, which allows your opponent to tech or expand unchecked.

The opponent can take shortcuts by spending less money in their army in order to tech faster or expand earlier. If you don't pressure them, they will get away with this. You gotta keep them honest.

I agree.

I'm still fairly new and have yet to grasp the basics, tho'. I feel like playing more defensively will help me master some important essentials such as macro'ing properly, unit compositions, expanding, and simply learning how to build up supply naturally. So it's more like training as a opposed to a specific set strategy.

When I try to do "everything at once" I do really early and really fast and don't really experience playing a full game so it's harder to master the basics.

This isn't true.

Terran can generally turtle off of three bases to get a max or near max army and then easily take the map back and cause the zerg player untold stress. It's actually the most popular way to play TvZ now. Timing attacks are losing favor because zerg players are sacrificing drones to make lings and banelings and mutas to get into skirmishes and, mostly, because Terran can lose if they aren't good and do those. So now terrans do things like small scouting parties of marines killing exposed hatcheries or blue flame hellions patrolling the map while they turtle and build marine/thor/tank armies.

FE into turtling on 2/3 base for a fast max supply mech army is my favorite gameplan in TvZ ^_^.

I'm going to have such an amazing turtle strategy.

And then finally once my macro gets better and I get better at just doing things in general I'll start mixing in Medivac dropship harass to stop players from thinking they can expand freely just cuz I'm turtling.

Or maybe even some early hellion harass to put a dent in their economy so I can solidify my defense/expansion.

Is there also a list of the current default ladder maps?
also, someone answer this cuz if im gonna turtle ive gotta know the map so i can know the best chokeholds to barracade

God, I hate those at school. I usually just use a proxy or route my connections through my home computer to get past them.

My school blocks freaking google search terms too. I had to write a paper about Marijuana legalization, and it blocked me any time that I searched for
marijuana. Sword, gun, hack, pokemon, quake (because of the game), alcohol, tobacco, paul revere (wtf), and urban don't work either. x_x

Anyway, I played some matches today, and I think that I'm starting to like Zerg more than 'toss. I always lost with them, but now I've learned how useful roaches can be. :3

Some Terran player actually ragequit when he saw my near 45 unit army of roaches and hydras.

I learned how useful Roaches can be when I had to spend 400 supply of them to finally break Omni's turtling on 2 base T_T

You can just look on SC2 haha.

But maps are Backwater Gulch, Typhon Peaks, Slag Pits, Shattered Temple, Scrap Station, Metalopolis, and Xel'Naga Caverns as far as I know.

Haha, no need for that; I was planning on following up that post with the rest of the story, since I had to leave in the middle of typing it and left it at one sentence.

You see, the idiot decided to sink nearly all of his money into Vikings. He tried to pop all of my Overlords, but after I wrecked a lot of them with my Hydras, he came behind me, landed (Vikings are the air units that can land and attack ground, right? I don't play teran so I don't know names), and tried to beat my little army. Well, he massively failed. :3

I then tried to move all of my units to the front of his ramp, but after destroying the only two siege tanks that he had (at an expo too) he quit without even saying GG. I stayed around after he left, and he only had a few marines and marauders left in his base.

I could also talk about the idiot who tried to build 6 command centers at one mineral field (Lol) so that he could abuse Mules (the special harvester thing; is the name right?) at it, but I'm tired of Bronze now. I can't wait to get back to silver, lol.

That's a good idea, too. But I usually play with headphones on. So I would have a hard time noticing the phone. What I would really like is the same thing in the form of a normal program. I could throw it together real quick I bet. Unless it already exists?

Seriously, this has been a huge help. Usually when I play muta-ling, I wind up with like 1500 minerals floating, no larva, 3 queens with full energy, and an angry army knocking on my doorstep.
