Why are you guys confusing being successful with being good? When I say downfall to video games or cancer killing video games I don't mean the money they make I mean the quality of the game. Maybe this will clarify things here so I don't have to read any more dumb posts from Moogle.
For instance: Starwars Episode 1 was very very successful, but it sucks butt. That's undeniable.
However: "The Thing" from John Carpenter was a failure when it came out, but now it's considered to be a classic and one of the top sci-fi/horror/monster/gore movies ever.
I don't mean that all successful things are bad, for you extremists out there who want to nit pick my posts. Unless you're a fool, it is BLATANTLY obvious that the quality of gameplay in video games have been declining probably since the start of the new 3d gens (Xbox PS2 and GCN). I put a lot of the blame on the game called "Halo" which is a generic slow paced NOT FUN NOT SKILLED shooter game for fratboys and children that sold well so now many game companies only want to make easy as hell video games that feel more like interactive movies than anything (for all you modern borefare 2 fans out there) because they know many idiots will continue to eat it up.
Do you honestly think Mondern crapfest 2 is anything compared to Super Metroid? Starcraft? Unreal Tournament? Megaman X? Contra? Quake 2/3? Half Life? Super Mario Bros 3? Castlevania 4 or SOTN?
I often have people say I'm just stuck in the old times, as in I only like these older games because nostalgia blinds my judgment. I know I am a sucker for nostalgia, but come on, these new games cannot even compare to the old games. Back then GAMEPLAY was considered the art of making video games, and now it's STORY and GRAHPICS, which usually results in stale and uninteresting shallow gameplay.
I mean just compare Brawl to SSB64. Brawl has so much on the surface, more characters, more stages, better graphics, better soundtrack, but it severely lacks the core of what made smash brothers which was unique gameplay that knew no limits. Brawl has so much more of everything but fun because of its shallow gameplay, which also relates to many games these days when you compare them to the old games.
Of course I leave no room for argument in my post, but what are you going to argue now? If you have any VALID points on why new games are even half as good as old games then I would love to listen, otherwise just join our STEAM channel and have fun in there I'll be moderating it and don't worry I won't abuse my mod powers unless you break my only rule!
