Actually not that many people guessed an X and Y newcomer

I find that a bit surprising. Sure, I wouldn't have been sure who it would be but I would imagine Game Freak exerts a large degree of control on which Pokémon gets added to Smash (due to their joint copyright) and that they'd want to plug somebody new. This was the impression I got from Sakurai's mention of having to keep even second parties happy with everything (specifically mentioning Pokémon characters).

Yes he has that but he has boxing gloves yet mac is in. As for shadow notice how he or any sonic character didn't have an assist trophy shown...

Well we got a Pokémon from X and Y but that would've been easily guessed. Not a lot of use here.

Cool to see so many complete roster "leaks" destroyed by Greninja though.

More people were expecting Mewtwo and for Pokemon Trainer to stay than an X/Y Pokemon. Heck even through the direct the XY chances got slimmer with Pokeball Eevee. But look what happened. I'm thinking Sal is right on this one.

And what about Sakurai's comment about trying to bring back Mewtwo? Well I' thining my half Sarcastic post a while back on GameFAQs about Mewtwo returning as a Pokeball may actually hold some truth to it with that Masterball item.

Mario looks a LOT better in the leaked image. Though, that COULD be dev time during which they've optimized characters via reducing their polygon count (which can happen).

Whether that leak is real or not, Palutena IS playable. The fact that Sakurai is trolling the fanbase with her and Ridley is evidence that they're playable, IMO.

This is exactly what I've been talking about. As soon as information comes which challenges the Palutena leak, someone defends it greatly, and the facts are brushed aside.
The lean CAN be fake, while Palutena CAN STILL be included anyway.

Rip those leaks. Also I'm in the camp of still believing in Ridley. The animation is so jerky, the way he moves towards Pikachu towards the end of the clip looks like the beginning of a 'walk' cycle. Surely if he was a stage hazard it would be way more fluid right? Then there's the weird pivot in his movement when the clip's about to fade out. Also I hope the pseudo Palutena was a direct response to the leak, because that's hilarious.

I mean, I'd say interpretations may vary, if not for both the crown and the eye being present. Sure, they left it sort of ambigious if you really don't want to see it that way. Also, I'm going to need a source on that "Retro even laughed" bit. Seems like you're just a little bit angry there, anyway.

Either way, this isn't the thread's purpose. That leak above, while it certainly is...interesting, is so obviously flawed it hurts. Most of the problem, in fact, is "Zelda and Pokemon had their down-b replaced with a generic kick if you choose that option" What? Why? If you're going to add the option to not have mid-battle transformation, why choose something so awfully bland for them?

That and Chibi-Custom Robo. The ****? Next.

The post I'm quoting is the one that mentioned the rumor where Samus and ZSS (as well as Zelda and Sheik) fight separately. Or at least, I think Banjodorf is responding to it here. Just for those of you who were looking!

I mean, showing no hazard for a year, then just a freaking shadow?

I honestly don't feel too cheezed because Palutena is more or less confirmed now, but the way he was presented as merely a shadow seemed WAY too suspicious.

Guys, just give it up, Ridley is deconfirmed. He was obviously teased with the shadow. Not to mention he made his appearance, while there was a banner underneath that said "OTHER BOSS CHARACTERS APPEAR", on the stage where he has been heavily implied to be a hazard on some POTD's. It's over, bow out gracefully, and hope for the next installment.

I predicted the Master Ball. It's not a hard guess.

Point being, it's the only leak that predicted the Master Ball, which lends it more credence.

In other news, I think this confirms both Ridley and Palutena as playable.

The Ridley shadow is too obvious. Why not SHOW us Ridley if he's just a stage hazard?

The Palutena imposter trophy also cinches it for me.

Sakurai is trolling too hard. These characters are definitely in. If he were to troll that hard and then NOT have them in, he'd be MADE of a-hole...

I'm going to add that he very clearly wanted us to think that Greninja was Mewtwo at first.

It's strange how he teases Ridley as a stage hazard for so long, but yet there isn't a single pic or gameplay showing him in Pyrosphere. I'm 100% sure now that he his playable.

Also, I'm starting to think that the trophys were a tease to upcoming newcomers. So i'm guessing a Fire Emblem newcomer, a LoZ Skyward Sword newcomer, Palutena and Ridley.

Glad you posted this. Kind of wanted to tackle it.

I have been a big proponent of the leak was fake. I have to give credit where credit is due. He did get Greninja right (sort of). He also actually posted this as a leak rather than saying "I'm making this prediction on a message board. OH LOOK GUYS. I'M RIGHT." This gives it some legitimacy. However, one problem was that all the other characters were very specific except the Pokemon was was "Pokemon from X and Y." That could have been any Pokemon. As X and Y are the new game, you're basically saying "A New Pokemon character will be added." So this is a little suspicious. He was specific when it came to the other characters, or at least he actually described the character that would be in "Chorus Boy, Animal Crossing Boy." But here he isn't. There is also the fact the characters were still not at E3 and the potential Mii stages are different series and were shown before the character.

It might be real, but, as always, take it with a grain of salt.

Agreed. Why split Zelda/Shiek as well as Samus and Zero Suit just to have the Pokemon Trainer be 3 characters??? He's gone!

Yes he has that but he has boxing gloves yet mac is in. As for shadow notice how he or any sonic character didn't have an assist trophy shown...

yea but the move with the boxing gloves doesn't directly reference Punch-Out like Balloon Trip recovery does, also: what else other than float about is Balloon Fighter known for? Mac is at least an actual boxer

My thoughts exactly, plus snake if he is back is at E3 or bust. Also i believe that the direct also confirms these characters:

issac, meta knight, balloon fighter, ridley, palutena, shadow, and maybe a few others, i will need to rewatch it.

Shadow is not going to be playable. I will cut off my balls, eat them on camera, and post the video here if he is. Balloon fighter is highly unlikely too, Sakurai has said previously that he has no idea how to make him functional without the balloons, and Villager already stole his only gimmick. Everybody else, sure. And if NOT appearing as an assist trophy is enough to confirm Isaac, it's worth mentioning that Tingle didn't appear either and Zelda already has two assists...
