if yall were following last week than you would know that these announcements are simply the day when people that were invited to this event are allowed to share info. happened last week with mario golf, itll be the same with MK8 tommorow. no direct/press conference; itll be just gameplay videos and text information.
Well, there will most likely be a Direct pretty early in April anyways, so I wouldn't mind. A bunch of Mario Kart 8 info would be absolutely wonderful by itself.

i think its close enough to a rumor, iirc they have got info early or played demos early in the past. what time do the directs usally get announced, i know the last one was later in the day than normal but i'm guessing because of all the NA stuff
I don't think we will get a Nintendo Direct soon but not today or tomorrow..maybe next week

Definitely not today. They would have announced it already.
I get the feeling that Iwata will hold the Direct off until later just to troll us though.

Oh my gosh Iwata is not sitting here reading comments going "I want to purposely make fans of the game mad, because that's totally something that a man like me, in my 50's, am completely aware of internet terms like 'trolling', and just to annoy them, I'm going to plan a direct on April 10th, instead of the 3rd, because they'll all be disappointed." lol ;)

A direct next week would be awesome though! (or this week, not likely) hopefully that gamexplain leak is real, but it seems like one person "saw" it and everyone else has been spreading it around via word of mouth with no actual evidence?

If the Direct is held off it's more then likely because whatever else is being shown isn't ready to be shown or they do not have enough yet to show. Unless they do a theme specific one like they did for Wii Fit U or Pokemon, it's just going to be whenever they feel they have enough that they want to show.

I think it's safe to say that anyone who doesn't live under a rock knows what trolling is.

But I agree with the rest of your post.

Another "leak" from GameFAQs:

Secret info was told to me that I was very excited to hear. I personally believe that they are true.
- Two Assist Trophies removed.
- One item from Melee that returned in Brawl has been removed.
- Five playable characters in the Smash Bros. series do not return
- Magenta alloy joins the multi-man family.
- Stage builder, new option for creating scrolling stages, both horizontal and vertical.
- 22 new stages, and 20 retro stages in the WiiU version. 3DS version has 28 new stages and 10 retro stages. New Pork City and Temple are part of the retros
- One song and one sound byte on Super Smash Bros. for the N64 have been ported
- Pit and Thanatos will be in next CGI trailer
- Certain groups identify as, "Arcade Classics ," "Famicom Classics" and "Super Famicom Classics." There are three for Arcade, and four for Famicom and four for Super Famicom. One newcomer in each group.
I am pretty positive in this leak's legitamacy.

Even so it depends if there are trailer or gameplay footage ready for show or if it fills enough of a timeslot to make the effort.

Apparently GameXplain let slip that they're going to show something on Mario Golf/Mario Kart 8 Thursday. Might be a direct, might be a press release, who knows.
How so? GameXplain is a trusted source of information, would trust them with my gaming life

Of course not, that's Sakurai's hobby.
Another "leak" from GameFAQs
[collapse="Totally In-depth analysis of this 'Leak'"]>Two Assist Trophies removed
Probable to happen regardless, Little Mac has already been removed so.
>One item from Melee that return in Brawl has been removed.
This would make the potential removed items: Lip's Stick, Super Scope, Freezie, Mr. Saturn, Screw Attack, Warp Star, Party Ball, Bunny Hood, and the Metal Box.
Lip's Stick would really be the only that would relate to a potential new character, having it removed would essentially confirm Lip.
>Five playable characters in the Smash Bros. series do not return.
Assuming Pichu, Young Link, and Dr. Mario don't return this would mean 1/2/no cuts from Brawl (Really dependable if Roy and/or Mewtwo return or not).
>Magenta alloy joins the multi-man family.
what
>Stage builder, new option for creating scrolling stages, both horizontal and vertical.
Isn't it weird how this JUST shows up after a potential Stage Builder reveal??
>22 new stages, and 20 retro stages in the WiiU version. 3DS version has 28 new stages and 10 retro stages. New Pork City and Temple are part of the retros
Pretty sure Sakurai said past stages will not return due to porting issues with the 3DS. So this part is basically false.
>One song and one sound byte on Super Smash Bros. for the N64 have been ported
Uh okay.
>Pit and Thanatos will be in next CGI trailer
#TeamReal
>Certain groups identify as, "Arcade Classics ," "Famicom Classics" and "Super Famicom Classics." There are three for Arcade, and four for Famicom and four for Super Famicom. One newcomer in each group.
Not sure how to tackle this part, sort of mostly opinionated I guess. But this would suggest several retro characters appearing.
[/collapse]Leak is most likely fake, based on that one error on the "leaker's" part.

They have a newcomer to show, this is enough. (Was almost the only thing on the last direct for wii u...)

I remember Sakurai addressed returning stages once, but did he explicitly say or imply that there wouldn't be any?

He said that the Version specific stages were supposed to compensate for the lack of returning stages.

Not sure if I can find the quote, but I distinctly remember that tidbit.

Where the hell are the Gameboy Classics, no love for them? D:
Consoles get too much attention.

Because they are the bigger thing :troll:, trolling aside which character from a series in Smash Bros has come only exclusive from Handhelds? The only one I could remember is Mr. Game and Watch but I take him as a especial case.

Arguably Pokemon and technically Lucas and that's really about it.
No new series that had a character in Smash Bros have stayed portable before.
Well Pokemon has games before in home consoles and Erathbound/Mother began in home console, so not much a case thats why the inclusion of Isaac, Dillon and the now deceased Starfy makes me think that we could only see this time around only home console new comers.

The Golden Sun Series as well as the Advance Wars series might be considered a part of the Gameboy Classics. Due to the popularity of them in the past Sakurai was probably toying around with using a rep. In a few of these rumors/leaks I see a character being playable. Possible for him to upgrade them from Assist Trophy status like Lil Mac.

Relating to the recent leak if we exclude Lil Mac those would be the top two AT bump ups imo. This lack of text leaks is killing me on the inside though.

If it's referring to dead franchises as in retro (which for Golden Sun it isn't), it would be Kaeru no Tame ni wa Naru and Mole Mania.

Also does anyone have a clue what "Certain Groups" might mean?

I assume certain groups just refer to which characters fall in which section. So arcade could be Little Mac, famicom could be takamaru, and super famicom could be someone like K. Rool. That's what i'm getting out of that post.

Yeah, I highly doubt it'd refer to only retro characters cause that'd be incredibly bizarre, it's likely refering to what console the characters originated from.

I'm a little confused by it still though, what does it mean that there are three in arcade, four in NES, and four in SNES? Four newcomers? That can't be because it clearly says that there are one newcomer in each of those groups afterwards.

Three or four in each group, veterans included.

But wouldn't 3 or 4 start to overlap real quick? Or is this only referring to unconfirmed veterans? Either way, Yoshi, Capt. Falcon, Ness, Falco would mean no newcomers could come from the SNES era.

Isnt this leak automatically fake? retro stages were confirmed to be gone, right?

EDIT: Oh, they weren't.

2 questions. One, when did he say retro stages wouldnt return? That was a BIG key in the smash series. Thats like having no returning mario kart stages on the 3ds. Two, when did sakurai hint at stage creator? And could somebody ACTUALLY respond? Lol

I can't specifically remember when he said the thing about stages, I think it was in one of his Famitsu columns. It wasn't definite, but they had some problems porting them over to the new technology, mainly the 3DS iirc, which could hinder them from being ported all together.

The stage creator hasn't been hinted. I assume he's refering to yesterday's picture with the spring and everything, but there's been many things pointing towards it being Palutena's Temple. In regards to the stage creator, Sakurai did say in one of the E3 interviews that he didn't know if it's going to return at all, so it's looking more unlikely than anything else.

I have to admit I am surprised at the lack of text leaks during April Fool’s. I am glad we didn’t have any, but still.

Anyway, hoping for a Direct this week or next week for an unexpected newcomer to debunk some leaks, or to finally confirm Palutena.
