That would make 4 humans of the 6. That's not that many humans confirmed.
Well, Villager and Mac are humans. Rosalina is kinda human. Wii-Fit Trainer is a very pale human. MegaMan may be basically a robot, but has a human body, so, Close enough. And Shulk is a human. I like all of the newcomers, but so far, there's too few Pikachus, or Dededes, and such. :/

New here, found this

Hey /v/. I have a friend who’s working on the translation work of Super Smash Brothers. Lately he’s been working long nights there translating trophy descriptions. They want SSB4 to have a worldwide simultaneous release, but since they’re still working on trophies, which have long descriptions, the translation has apparently been a nightmare. Like I said, he’s been busy with work, and when I was finally able to hang out with him on an off day, he told me some very interesting information about SSB4 that I figured you guys would like to hear, including the newcomers.First thing is that Character Transformations (Zero Suit Samus, Sheik, Pokemon Trainer’s Pokemon, etc.) have a new mechanic. From the options menu, you can toggle whether or not you want a character’s transformations both selectable from the menu, and if a character can transform in mid combat into another. When disabled, the B-Down for Zelda and Pokemon is replaced with a generic kicking move, and Samus’s final smashes simply don’t change her. Because of this, as well as some tech difficulties with the 3DS, none of the character transformations like ZSS or Sheik (and a newcomer) are ready to be revealed yet. Also because of this new mechanic, the Pokemon Trainer’s stamina thing has been removed.

Next is a new Pokeball mechanic. Very rarely, you’ll get a Shiny Pokemon from a Pokeball. Not only will it be more powerful, but it’ll leave behind a shiny Pokemon trophy of it’s respective species. Very rare, and very minor, but a neat thing.

Next, stages. There are some pretty fun ones this game, and he told me a few. City Trial (Wii U) is based off of the Kirby Air Ride mode. It’s apparently a big stage (New Pork City) but it drops neat power ups that alter your character’s stats. It can make your character lighter, heavier, faster, etc. Caps at 9 power ups, and they all are removed when you die.

Park (3DS) is based off of Chibi-Robo Park Patrol. The game looks at what color your Main Mii is, and fills the park with flowers of that color. It’s a fairly plain floating stage stage, but still fun.

Sunset Shore (3DS) is based off of the iconic Donkey Kong Country Returns stage. It’s a run-off stage, but the sillhouettes of all the characters are apparently very amazing. Was originally going to be revealed along with Diddy Kong, but their apparently not satisfied with it yet.

Fossil Arena (3DS) is based off of the Fossil Fighters games. It’s meant to replace the ‘Pokemon Stadium’ for the 3DS. Dinosaurs will occasionally barge through your battle and fight. Apparently it has Robot Dinosaurs too.

Baby Bowser’s Castle (Wii U) is the visually pleasing stage for the Wii U. All the visuals are hand drawn, and crafted to be 3DS. It apparently looks very amazing in motion. Baby Bowser will slowly approach from the distance, so you and your opponent will have to hit balloons that’ll throw eggs at him. If he comes to close, he’ll OHKO everyone, and run all the way to the back to try again.

Final Stage he told me is Big Squiddy Caves (3DS). Based off of the Starfy game, since it’s underwater, all the physics are lighter. A giant squid will try to hit you with his tentacles, but you can hit them to make him go away. Apparently, when you summon the Starfy assist on this stage, he’ll actually swim and hit his opponents as opposed to get hit.

And finally, what you guys probably want to know, the Characters. First thing, all of Brawl’s veterans are returning, since they’re easy to import into SSB4’s engine(Aside from the whole Transformation thing being a pain). And yes, even Snake. Really the only reason he’s returning is because Kojima and Sakurai are really close. Since they’re close, and Konami and Nintendo are still on fairly good relations with each other, Snake was able to return. Also, Mewtwo is returning.

Now, newcomers. First is Dixie Kong. Thanks to Retro’s DKC revival, Sakurai has reason to give DKC much bigger representation, since apparently he’s a big fan of the series. Dixie Kong is a transformation (They tag team each other, though the other disappears and won’t be in the background) of Diddy Kong. Like stated earlier though, none of the character transformations are ready to be shown yet. She was originally going to be revealed in the last Nintendo Direct, but since she wasn’t ready, they just revealed Little Mac instead, since Iwata really wanted to reveal a newcomer.

Next is King K. Rool. Like above, DKC’s revival let Sakurai add more characters. A bit odd, considering all the Kremlings have in DKCR is one easter egg cameo in TF, but Sakurai really likes the series. Like Wario, he has two costumes; His normal King attair, or his Captain’s clothing. His moveset is the same though.

Ridley is both a character and a stage hazard. Since Other M’s Ridley was a clone, that Ridley will be the Stage Hazard of the Pyrosphere stage, and normal Ridley will be the character. Sakurai knows how much the west wants him, and plans to fake you guys out for his reveal by showing the Stage Hazard Ridley first as a Miiverse picture. He apparently plays similarly to Charizard.

Isaac from Golden Sun is a character. Apparently him and Starfy were considered at the same time, and they decided to cut both of them, but at the last second they decided to keep Isaac and keep Starfy to Assist Trophy.

Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles is a character. My friend hasn’t really seen nor heard about his moveset though, so he didn’t say much on him.

Anna from Fire Emblem, more specifically her Awakening appearance. They originally were going to put Chrom as a character, but Sakurai felt 3 Blue lords would be overkill, and it might make people uninterested about Fire Emblem, which he felt went against one of the purposes of Smash Bros. So Intelligent Systems suggested Anna, and Sakurai loved the idea (He wanted more female characters in this game). Her moveset is really fast but surprisingly heavy, with a mix of magic swords and money bags.

Palutena from Kid Icarus will be a character. Apparently she’s what you expect, though a fun easter egg is if you have her and pit in a match, and she wins, her victory screen has her cuddling and teasing Pit, with both of them light hearted and happy, and Pit congratulating her.

Ray 01 and Chibi Robo will be characters, with Chibi’s apparently focusing on household items. They’re planned to share a reveal, making a ‘Chibi-Custom-Robo’.

And the final character is one I really think you guys will be surprised at. It’s the fourth Third Party character, and he’s Jack Frost, from Shin Megami Tensai. Atlus and Nintendo have been on very good terms, and after some talk, Nintendo let Atlus add Frost to the game. Due to the whole Atlus situation that I know you guys know about, it was looking really bleak if he’d make it. Thankfully though, it all ended up well (Same with the Fire Emblem -x- SMT project, that’s also still in progress apparently). Mega Man is meant to be the Third Party rep to appeal to Western Gamers, while Jack Frost will be the one to appeal to Eastern Gamers. One thing my friend told me is due to the nature of the SMT series, they’ve had to be very careful with what gets a trophy for that series, since they want SSBIV to get at most a T rating in America, and the equivilant around the world. He told me the unfortunate news that a Mara trophy was one of the first to be put off the table.

Anyways, there you go guys. That’s everything he told me. In short, SSB4 will have new fun stages, and a total of 14 newcomers.

What do you think?

Oh I see. I thought it was basically questioning why people would prefer Toad over Bowser Jr to which there's quite a big list of achievements that Toad has managed over his 29 years of appearances.

If we're really honest though a sixth Mario character is pretty unlikely anyway. Every time I see any Mario character in a leak after Rosalina's reveal I nearly always end up leaning more towards calling it fake.
Actually Sakurai's comments about Peach when she was revealed make me believe that Toad is a distinct possibility.

Mega Man is a robot, That's not a human. Wii Fit Trainer is a mannequin, That's not a human. Little Mac, Villager and Rosalina are the only confirmed human newcomers.

As I said, I counted those two since they have human shapes. WFT is basically a pale human anyways.

They all have human shapes though. Just because Mega Man has gears inside him doesn't make him not look like a human, which is the point. Same goes for Wii Fit Trainer, even if she's pale. When we're talking non-human, we're talking Meta Knight, Dedede, Game & Watch, R.O.B, Lucario, etc.

Mega Man and WFT still aren't humans. Yes they have human shapes but human shapes does not a human make. ;)

Well if by chance Nintendo announces a direct for tomorrow and Monolith and Sakurai tweet about it, then I will get to the hype train and say: Choo-Choo Shulk is in Smash M...F...! XD

That's being nitpicky just for the sake of being nitpicky. You know what people mean by it.

People take this quote way too seriously. No special priority doesn't equal a character not getting in. :ohwell:
Yeah, if anything that indicates Pac Man's inclusion. Pac Man isn't just any character. He's the only gaming icon that rivals Mario's level of fame. Plus he's been in the Mario Kart arcade titles AND he's been leaked.

You are not "thinking critically." This is definite proof, along with a single poll from Smashboards, that Pacman is an unpopular character with no chance whatsoever of getting into Smash.

How about we use the term "humanoid", something that resembles a human being. WFT and Mega Man are humanoid, not biologically human.

And yeah, I think the focus in many leaks on humanoid sword wielding characters from less cartoony franchises seems unlikely. Not enough diversity.

I guarantee that when he's announced everyone will love his inclusion. MOST people vote against characters because they'd rather other characters be included. When PM's announced everyone will act as though they wanted him in the whole time (just look at Rosalina).

Then we simply gotta wait for few hours then. :p
Or till tomorrow. :p

I wouldn't get too excited. Besides, it's like it was pointed out before. The Club Nintendo rewards game for last month was Punch-Out featuring Mr Dream, then Little Mac was announced. Between the Kid Icarus Uprising anniversary and the fact that the current Club Nintendo reward game is Kid Icarus of Myths and Monsters, It seems highly likely a Kid Icarus character (which could be anyone from Palutena to Dark Pit to Magnus to virtually anyone else) is next.

Plus I'm almost certain Nintendo has never announced a Nintendo Direct on a Sunday, lest I'm mistaken.

My comment was tongue-in-cheek, but yeah, that happens with literally every character because of the whole "OMG SHINY" reaction the fanbase has every time a newcomer is unveiled.

Also, that 4chan Translator leak wasn't a dare, the GameFAQs Translator was. They're probably equally valid, though.

Yeah that's a possibility indeed, as a well made marketing technique, maybe we'll get a veteran first. :p

Or ROB and Metaknight. So many people were against MK when he was revealed in that E3 2006 trailer for being a rep from the Kirby series or not knowing "who the **** he is". And the ROB meltdown- hilarious.

I was telling a friend about that rumor that included Villager (Animal Crossing guy), Wii Fit Trainer, Megaman, Mii, Little Mac and Pacman and how people are against the rumor even though 4 of those characters has been announced so far. Like seriously, who would've guess Wii Fit Trainer? Hell, and Little Mac? It's obvious the person on Neogaf is some insider (and those who follow the industry should know that Neogaf is FILLED with insiders).

I was telling him if the rumor contained Shulk, Megaman, Ridley, Villager, Bayonetta and Skull Kid, and if 3-4 of those were revealed the following day or week, they'd be all over that rumor.

To me, it's apparent people don't want to believe the possibility of Mii and Pac-Man being in Smash 4 because they don't WANT them in. But if we replace those two with more desirable characters, then the rumor would be true.

Miis are near guaranteed to be playable with hints gravitating towards their inclusion (like how Sakurai pointed out the empty cage on the Find Mii stage where the player's Mii would normally reside). There's already 3 stages based off games where Miis are the core focus of that game and honestly they earned a spot because of how integrated they are with Nintendo's consoles and some games. I believe the 3DS popularized Miis even moreso than their initial appearance on Wii. I've grown a liking to my avatar ever since I played Pilotwings Resort on 3DS and I played as Mii a lot in Mario Kart Wii.

So, don't be shocked when Miis make an appearance. You can always ignore them if you dislike them so much. And those claiming that Pac-Man and Mii can't have a proper moveset- you're dead wrong. If they can create a moveset for Little Mac, Villager and Wii Fit Trainer, then they can totally pull out a variety of movesets for Mii and Pac-Man from their respective games especially if anyone here plays other video games (particularly ones featuring these characters) besides Smash Bros.

Yeah, that's a small call out.

I think there can be the odd exception, like I didn't really care to see Megaman in but I've always liked the character so I am pleased to have him now that he's in. But I'm not going to claim that I always wanted him in.

But I remember so many people vehemently against Rosalina when the odd comment about her popped up (due to her inclusion on SM3DW), then as soon as she's announced a ton of people suddenly wanted her all along. SMH.

Wait a second, huh? "Mega Man is a robot but because his body is similar to a human he counts as one." That makes no sense. And whats so bad about humans, anyways? Theres always far less humans than other creatures in Smash games.

I agree wholeheartedly. No way could someone accurately guess Wii Fit Trainer, Villager and Megaman. And those were easily the 3 most unlikely characters on his list if you ask me.

I hate the idea of having Mii's but I never for a second doubted they'd be included before that guy leaked those characters, let alone after. And Pac Man was a clear shoo-in after it was announced that Namco was working on the game.

I don't want a Kid Icarus newcomer unless it is Palutena (and/or Medusa). If there is one Kid Icarus character I am against, it is Dark Pit. I hope he stays a palette swap, not a separate character.

For me the only two rumors that have some validity and are in my sight with a 70% of been real are the LeakE3 (Villager, Mega Man, WFT, Little Mac, Miis and Pac-Man) and the Palutena one, others are in my watch but really conservative about their information, the only other one that looks more or less legit is the Betternet Leak.

Or ROB and Metaknight. So many people were against MK when he was revealed in that E3 2006 trailer for being a rep from the Kirby series or not knowing "who the **** he is". And the ROB meltdown- hilarious.
Meta Knight was actually fairly popular pre-Brawl. The only people that hated on him were people who'd rather want Dedede, and everything turned out alright in the end anyways. In my experience Meta Knight was always met with a warm reception. If someone from E3 wasn't, it was Wario and ZSS. Wario was mostly because people didn't like that he used his WarioWare stuff instead of his classic stuff, and ZSS was considered competition for Ridley.

You're right on R.O.B though, he caused a meltdown in the Smash community on a scale that hasn't been seen before or since, though parts of that was also because it meant that the 35 character demon roster without Ridley, Geno or Krystal was true.

Wait a second, huh? "Mega Man is a robot but because his body is similar to a human he counts as one." That makes no sense. And whats so bad about humans, anyways? Theres always far less humans than other creatures in Smash games.
When I said 'Human', as I said, I meant 'human-shaped'. Which is why I also mentioned Dedede and Pikachu and such (non-human-shaped characters). I have NOTHING against human characters, but all the Newcomers so far have been one (or, yes, shaped as one), and I just hope there won't be too many of them. :/

I still don't understand the hatred, not dislike, hatred for Pac-Man. I get that he's basically washed up and really has no business appearing with mediocre games anymore, but seriously, the yellow dude was a legend back in the day. The same could be said for Mr. Game & Watch yet nobody gives him crap. Heck Sonic could be a modern day example considering how most of his games were, and still are, getting mixed views.

To see the outright bashing of such a big name character is just baffling to me.

Might I just say that I love your use of the term "demon roster"?

I think there can be the odd exception, like I didn't really care to see Megaman in but I've always liked the character so I am pleased to have him now that he's in. But I'm not going to claim that I always wanted him in.

But I remember so many people vehemently against Rosalina when the odd comment about her popped up (due to her inclusion on SM3DW), then as soon as she's announced a ton of people suddenly wanted her all along. SMH.
It's not so much that characters can get in that individuals don't care for (I dislike the WFT, for example), but that, as a whole, the fanbase will obsess over every chosen newcomer as if it's a gift from above, regardless of who it is, while simultaneously making excuses about why it's okay that every non-chosen newcomer wasn't chosen. A culture of yes-manship, if you will.

Also, to the thread, let's stick to focusing on leaks, please. There hasn't been any shortage of them today.

Ah, I see. I'm sure most of the remaining newcomers will be non-human.

I have a feeling the translator leak is fake, I mean, Diskun? Seriously?
