I'm sure Sakurai has accepted Miiverse as an accurate source for information over a Smash site, or anywhere else, when half of the users don't even know what constitutes a workable character.

Still though, I wouldn't use it as an accurate means of popularity, given the disproportionate number of people who have WIi U's (although there's probably a much larger base in the past month or so due to the 3DS Miiverse. However at this point if this roster isn't finalized, I'd be shocked, so it matters not too much.)

Miiverse also has requests for Goku. Either way, neither Miiverse nor here, and neither what you've seen nor what I've seen, represents the entire fanbase properly. But I can tell you for sure that Ridley is more highly requested than Bowser Jr. or Rosalina.

That's another thing thats got me thinking, can we safely assume the roster was finalized over two years ago? If so, is it possible that DKTF wasn't even being considered yet, which might mean that Dixie wasn't really a priority. We all think she is because of her appearance in TF, but it could be that time-wise, they didn't line up.

She was planned for Brawl though. Whether that makes her a priority in this game or not is debatable, but it's worth thinking about.

Well obviously. The fact is, he definitely has people on his team that do. Even still, if he were to just check Japanese fansites (which let's remember, Sonic and Ike were primarily popular in the West, characters like K. Rool are quite popular in Japan. So Sakurai doesn't need to speak English for that.

Unfortunately, a lot of people assume that Sakurai started directing games at the tender age of 18 because he was some kind of video game prodigy or something. But if you dig enough through mostly Japanese information, you find out the less than flattering truth. That's not to say he hasn't learned the ropes more and more over the years, but the way some people treat him as a demi-god when many, many other people could have been in his shoes now through pure chance kind of annoys me.

Smash Bros. is such a big franchise, it's probably easy to call Sakurai god just as much as how Miyamoto invented Super Mario Bros.

Now personally Bowser Jr. Is my favorite character from the Mario franchise but do I want him to be in Smash Bros. Yes, that said I don't mind Rosalina being in smash, in fact I'm white excited for her inclusion. Sakurai probably thinks Rosalind is better for Smash than some characters and we got to respect his opinion. Sure we are buying the game, but what's a game without twists and curves?

Based on what? He and his team struck gold with the idea for the first Smash game, and since all the following games have just been derivative of the formula, of course it's going to be successful. The fact that it has Mario and Pokemon characters in it also helps.

It's completely fallacious to think Sakurai and only Sakurai can create the best Smash game possible and that any decision he makes is inherently good. I'm not saying he's a bad person, just not necessarily the best, and the idea that he knows what's best is complete nonsense.

None of this addresses my point. Have faith in him if you want. It still doesn't mean nobody could do what he does better. And the fact that people have such faith in him will lead them to believe that everything he does is the best, essentially creating a self-fulfilling prophecy: if you want to love something so much, you will.
