The characters have been able to find explanations for most cases where a character is a fighter twice:

• , and are different iterations of one hero, same with and (including SSB4)

With the exception of and . Nobody understands why are there two Samus in Smash. Both Samus and ZSS don't seem to be bothered or care about it, though

Ike is deeply concerned about Alph's overreliance in Pikmin, especially when he's less skilled in it in comparison to (I know game-wise this makes no sense but this is my headcanon shh) wants to train Alph so he can be physically stronger in battles, but Alph doesn't really care

I may HC that and will do their best to protect each other from some of the elements. Generally Samus will try to protect Pit from the heat mostly to keep his wings safe where Pit will try to protect Samus from the cold after that Metroid DNA infusion experience (long story short, events in Metroid Fusion made Samus become very sensitive to cold temperatures without her Power Suit, along those lines). Also, Pit's nickname for Samus is Sammy. Samus occasionally calls Pit "Captain" outta respect, and she understands that Pit kinda dislikes the name "Pitty" as it reminds him of Hades and avoids calling him that.

On the topic of wings actually, also HC that prefers to sleep either face/belly down or while sitting to prevent himself from accidentally laying on his wings. This can be applied to too.

My head canon for Smash?

Master Hand created this whole Smash tournament as a way to test characters, through time and space and between life and death. He brings them in this new dimension which is the Smash universe, and this is a way to create new experiences for them which they need in new apperances in say, new games and adventures and such.

No character really has memory of being in this Smash universe, untill they come right back in the Smash universe. In which case they instinctively remember. Seeing as how life and death are twarted in this universe, it allows for the "stock matches" that we often play as. Death doesn't really mean a thing in the Smash universe anyway. It's indeed fights to the death, but in the same way for fun as the rules always allow you to come back because you are summoned. The playable characters are therefore imortalised by Smash, in a way. It's a sort of "video game heaven" but instead of doing heavenly things, Master Hand just wants to see them battle.

This comes with a prize though cause some certian characters would want to overrule the astral plane Master Hand created and be the dominator instead. This was mostly appearnt in Melee, with Ganondorf, Mewtwo and Giga Bowser joining togheter for Event Match 51. Bowser discovered the Final Smash before all other fighters and the cojoined forces wanted to rule over the rest and claim more power for themselves. This was anticipated however, so a lot of characters had to neuter their power before they could join, as to keep things more "fair". This is the reason we also see, say, Pichu regulary beat up characters it normally couldn't.

Books in which animals feature prominently are read as Pokemon world adaptations (which are produced with permission from all involved parties). Female Inkling once read a Pokemon world version of the book Stellaluna, a book about a bat pup being raised by a family of birds. In the Pokemon world version, the main character is turned into a Noibat pup, her mother into a Noivern, and the nest of birds is a mother Talonflame with baby Fletchling.

Idk if I said this one yet, but just in case,

can cook some simple food on his own, but it's mostly food he specifically likes, including junk food and burgers. He likes to share some of that food with , who seems to enjoy his burgers, mac & cheese, chicken soup, and pancakes a lot.
Pit also gets Samus to try doing a rally cry with him, and she seemed to like it much to his surprise, though it's likely a one-time thing to keep her serious focus in combat intact. Samus herself tries to get Pit to learn to fight without a weapon to cover one of his weaknesses.
The two also occasionally like to ride the empty roads together, with Samus having a custom motorcycle and Pit having his Exo Tank. They take the Lightning Chariot instead if they want to get somewhere far away super fast, much to Samus's disdain.

They aren't sure when to tell him that he's a grandfather, but thinks is related to them somehow and is constantly trying to swat him away (hence the ending of Chrom's fighter video).
Speaking of , he noticed that has low self-esteem and little humour in her life, so he took it upon himself to befriend and raise up her spirits as he did with Tails previously. It paid off and now and have a close friendship.
also looks up to as a symbol of strength. is very reserved unless she's had a drink or two.
is extremely creepy, always hanging out on the ceilings staring at random fighters. She has gotten multiple warnings but doesn't seem to care, and often makes weird advances on the men. She also wishes to steal 's power for her own use somehow.
is very loud, always barging in uninvited now that he can fit through doors. He makes perverted, violent comments and has tried to cook on multiple occasions. Surprisingly though his room is very clean, organized and he makes little noise at night. He also knows his manners somehow. However he is disgusted with and , considering them inferior offshoots of his species.
and have a bet going to see who can rip off more people in the mansion. Currently is winning.
was stressed in previous games because he always knew some fighters were being left out. Now that everyone is here he's finally happy and ready to spread his classic cheer once again. Now he's trying to help his brother get over his own issues.

is socially awkward and spends most of his time doing research, though he's learning to branch out more since moved in.

One day the true king will be decided and he will conquer the others' lands, but for now all's fair in royal war.
Ever since they first clashed in the SSE, and spar at the same three times every single day, even on holidays. They hold each other in high regard and take their duels very seriously.
enjoy arm-wrestling tournaments, with overtaking as the new champion. however still thinks whips are crude weapons.

The comittee board for picking newcomers is headed by Master Hand, and its members are the original 12 alongside one representative for each other "era" of Smash, that being Melee, Brawl, SSB4 and SSB4 DLC. These characters this time around are , , and . The "everyone is here" idea was pushed especially by since they really missed some of their older friends, particularly , and didn't want to see any of their friends leaving. were a bit opposed to the idea not because they didn't want it, but because they thought it was not gonna be viable. Master Hand then gave a really tight schedule for them to bring back everyone, and gave an ultimatum: if one didn't come back until then, none of the cut characters would.

got so ecstatic with his comeback that he actually was the one that lobbied for the inclusion of and . He never admits it though

The hardest to convince was , since it didn't want to come back to a place where all the spectators treated it as a joke fighter. A herculean effort brought by finally convinced Pichu. It was relieved and overjoyed upon watching reactions of people to the Ultimate E3 reveal, where people cheered really hard for its comeback.

The Echo Fighters were the last picks for the roster. The idea first came from how could they accommodate better in the roster. was the first newcomer Echo on board because of 's efforts. was the last because of 's own reluctance

got 's moves after being so happy to finally meet the Hero King and begged to train with him. got his moves from training with his daughter, but also closely watched and especially to differentiate his moves from her. noticed 's efforts and also helped with his training, thus inviting him to be his Echo.
