Ehm... Mr. lltacx, I found myself wondering, since we happen to live rather close to each other, how "serious" are you with Super Smash Bros.? Do you usually play with friends, or people you met through this game? Is there anything like a "scene" worth exploring in our "kikkerlandje"?
I'm really not that serious about Smash, i mostly play with friends and that's like once or twice in 2 weeks. Wish i would do things like tournaments and stuff but i'm not dedicated enough for stuff like that. I haven't even played online yet :O (It's also because i'm just sitting around waiting on Mewtwo ^^)

Wrong.
Pit and Palutena's conversations on Palutena's Temple confirm that those two are indeed the real Pit and Palutena.
Viridi herself even talks to them. This alone makes the SSB series canon to the other games in at least some sense.
Well, i guess for alot of Nintendo Franchises Smash can fit. Buuuuuuuuut...
I don't really think it fits in the case of Shulk. That's not the real Monado's he's using, given how at the end of his game
The Monado(s) get destroyed when the world is remade. Not to mention how the original Monado couldn't hurt Organic life, only Mechon.
Unless he got a Monado made specifically for Smash, that doesn't really make any sense.

Plus, i don't really think i could see the likes of someone so dedicated to his Kingdom like Marth or King of all evil Ganondorf finding their usage of time worthy to be spent in Smash honestly. : P

Nintendo confirmed that the fighters in Smash Bros are all toys that come to life to fight, so Mewtwo in Smash is not the same as movie Mewtwo even if they share voice actors. :p
Nintendo also said that the Koopalings aren't Bowser's children.
Bull**** (Please excuse my French.). I love Nintendo, but I like the idea of the Koopaling's being related to Bowser and Bowser Jr. much better, and since that used to be canon, it's what I think. The same thing goes for Smash Bros. Now, if the idea that the Smash characters were actually toys and the Koopalings being unrelated to Bowser had a significant impact on the plot of the games, then obviously I would change my head-canon, but since it doesn't, I'll stick with the older canon that I personally prefer.

But only cause they r not his children doesn't mean they r not related to him, right? They could still be other family members

Wasn't that conversation only in the English version of Kid Icarus Uprising? Also, that game breaks the fourth wall a lot...

Fourth wall?

What fourth wall?

You mean that crumbled remain of a fourth wall that the Uprising cast breaks like it's their day job and puts fourth wall breakers like Deadpool and Psycho Mantis to shame?

Pitch Black, I think.
Yes, yes- that's right.
I was simply amazed at how much effort they put into balancing every single Pokemon in that game, as well as providing the means to capture every single one in that generation.

nooo I can't believe I missed the favorite/least favorite generation discussion :s time to ramble I guess~

If I count all of the "extra" stuff (like console games and the anime) Gen 1 is probably my favorite and Gen 4 is my least favorite. R/B/Y were very basic and definitely not anywhere near my favorite main series games but Gen 1 had Pokemon Stadium and Pokemon Snap (plus the anime at that time was really fun and took more risks than it does now). Gen 4 had my favorite games in the entire series (HGSS so I guess that's more to Gen 2's credit) but I DPPt were my least favorite games, I never liked Sinnoh as a region, the Gen 4 Pokemon were probably the worst batch, the console game(s?) were forgettable, and the dub of the anime killed it for me (even though apparently the original version had amazing storytelling). If we're going just main series games though probably BW1 > GSC > XY > RBY > RSE > DPPt. And anime probably Kanto > Hoenn > Orange Islands > Kalos > Sinnoh > Johto > Unova > Battle Frontier

As for my top Pokemon, Umbreon is always my number 1 but I also really like Pikachu, Goomy, Skiddo, Lapras, and Blitzle.

So was there a challenger between Blue and Elite Four round level 100s?

Nope
Oak comes in after all of it
He was all like
"Congrats! You got all the Pokemon and beat the Champion, you're a POKEMON MASTER yadda yadda"
"But I don't think you and your 1000 monkey typewriters are ready for the filler **** that is Pokemon Battle Revolution, so now you get to fight me immediately with no healing whatsoever beforehand unless the dumb voices actually use their damn revives"*
*Fight ensues*

I like to think the koopalings are cousins or something. Wasn't there a Smash Bros reference in Kid Icarus Uprising?
"This place is so huge, there was even a loading screen back there."
"Shhhh, they're going to here you. We aren't supposed to talk about that."

"What? All I said is that they look like little Metroids."
"THIS game universe, and THAT game universe, have NOTHING to do with eachother. So don't go around spreading rumors."

I think it's safe to say anything said in Uprising doesn't count.
Especially not on the behalf of other more serious games like Metal Gear or Metroid.

Metal Gear is serious until you realise it doesn't take itself seriously at all.

So today I played a lot of Melee, PM, and Sm4sh with my friends. I don't own Melee (I used to play a lot on my other friend's copy) so I didn't play Melee for a loooong time. Like the old days, I chose Mewtwo. Needless to say, even though he kinda sucks, I played him 90% of the time (I of course played other characters that I used to use a lot) and out of all the other Melee characters he was the most fun for me. I own PM at home, and I already played Mewtwo a poop ton, so naturally my melee Mewtwo didn't get too rusty. PM Mewtwo obviously felt better, but something about Melee Mewtwo felt right to me.

I love melee Mewtwo. He may be bad and all (I lost more than I won against my friend's Fox/Falco/Marth), but unlike a lot of people I honestly wouldn't mind if they didn't change him too much in Smash 4. As long as they don't change his up-throw and back-throw, haha. I mean, it'd be nice if they did buff him, but if they didn't then it's whatever. Melee and PM Mewtwo is fun as heck. I haven't played Mewtwo against my friends in a long time, so after today I'm getting even more excited for Smash 4 Mewtwo. =D

To this day, I still think the method for defeating Psycho Mantis is one of the best/most ridiculous things ever put in a video game.
If they ported it to this generation, I wonder if people would be required to have multiple controllers just to fight him...or they take out that one method completely.

Wouldn't you just change the controller port. I think that's what you do in the PSOne classics port.

Can you change controller ports when they are wireless?
Yes. I change PS3 controller ports quite often. The PS menu when playing PSOne games has a change controller port option.

I never said it count, I was just asking if there was a reference in Uprising. Smash bros is its own universe where the characters in it are collectible trophies of a grown video game enthusiast individual (particularly a huge Nintendo fan). We see this person's room not once but twice. The first time is we see it is in the opening of Smash 64 where he's probably around the age of 10. Then the second time we see this person's room is in Melee when you view all the trophies all at once, you see a collection of video game consoles and other things, so with this Im assuming the person's is at least 15 or older. (this is only a theory though)

Only thing close to that is the "optional" way to defeat "The End" in Metal Gear Solid 3.

So not very different from me at all xD I sure hope I will find Mewtwo enjoyable, as there's a good chance that I'll end up with less appreciated characters (Rosalina?) in the end if I don't... D:

Agreed, 5 is making the Metal Gear series just another gritty war game which sticks cause that it's not what Metal Gear is about.
I think you guys are exaggerating.
Metal Gear Solid 4 looked just as gritty and serious back in the trailers, but it had the same creative out-of-the-box ideas, the same humor, likable characters, and overall was a lot of fun.

And even IF Phantom Pain ends up being how you described it, just one game in the series isn't going to make the entire franchise look like "another gritty war game".

(...though i do think i'm going to miss David Hayter as Snake's voice...)

It's not the look of the games its the story and plot as well as how the story is presented through the cutscenes.

Sure, MGS has always been realistic, but it never showed a cutscene of someone getting their stomach cut open and a bomb taken out without anesthetic or proper medical supplies, until ground zeroes. They've also treated war humerosly, MGSV touches on r*pe and torture far far more than any other game in the series.

It's taking MGS into a new, overly mature, overly dark, direction which, honestly, isn't what Metal Gear was ever known for and sort of ruins the humor that IS still present in the gameplay.

Edit: I remember some on on the boards tell me he was going to try the games but saw that single cutscene and got totally turned off from the entire series. It's a shame really. I think it was xSoul?

To be fair, MGS V is chronicling the fall of Big Boss from a operative into the villain of MGS.

Plus, Kojima's stories are about as sensical as Kingdom Hearts' chronological order at this point, so.... :p
