Actually @ --- is in charge of both the social and the "DLC Discussion/When are we getting Mewtwo" threads. So probably he should be informed about the server maintenance for Mewtwo being a worldwide thing.

I very seriously doubt the codes will go out the exact moment the update/patch is live. Worldwide release refers to the fact the codes will go out on the same day internationally (the 15th). Nowhere does is specify when they go out. Club Nintendo of America will likely be asleep (like the rest of us should be) at the time, and start sending them out over the day. T'is a long/arduous process.

The server maintenance is happening at that hour so the "is asleep" argument doesn't exactly work as NOA has their own servers which means someone is taking care of the maintenance (even if it's automated there has to be staff on hand in case it crashes).

Also the fact that they're doing a worldwide release of the patch at 1 AM probably means lots towards when the codes are being mailed. The mailing is most probably automated (one person isn't going to sit down and send millions of emails), which means they have a set time to start. The reason it normally happens in "waves" is so as to not clog up the servers (as it's hundreds of thousands if not millions of mails). Also becase the automated syste needs to pull this data dynamically, checking which accounts are valid to receive codes and then generating said code for each account.

2-3 hours should be more than enough to send all mails, which is why I expect mails to start right before the maintenance starts and end right after the patch is released for every single timezone.



It's all speculation though.
