From what I've seen it looks like a Waluigi situation: a vocal minority of people reacting in an extreme manner in turn making the majority who are good people seem as bad as them by association.
It sucks to see that, not just because of my own personal opinion cause I've seen Geno fans in action and from my own experience of them 99% of them are some of the coolest people I've ever met. That kinda bull**** that 1% is going on about is ridiculous.

One thing's for sure, DQ getting into Smash will apparently do it wonders as an advertising scheme. I've never seen anyone on Smash Boards that interested in the series and now everyone's wearing a Hero avatar. Smart business decision by Square-Enix if they nudged Nintendo to do it, and can't say I'm unhappy if this helps out DQ in the West.

It'll definitely will. Prior to the discussion of a potential Square rep, I didn't really know much, nor did I care that much about Dragon Quest. Once discussion started circling around Erdrick though, I got very interested in the franchise and looked into it more. I went ahead and got the Erdrick trilogy on my phone as well and now I want to try out some of the other games. I'm sure that sales will boost from Dragon Quest considerably if they get represented in Smash.

Do they know that the Western public was a big reason behind the creation of the DQ8 port on 3DS.

It is not popular for now, but smash is a great game for advertising IP. Plus I don't think West is a priority for Sora LTD. They mostly prefer to work with japanese series and developpers to avoid language barrier.

In general, i have to thank the users of this thread a lot for accepting me and for the good day i had with all of you.
2019 is starting better than 2018 for me, and i can completely say that entering this thread helped a lot to achieve that.

It is also nice to see other people who love DQ8 as much as me, alongside some guests from other threads.

So technically, Joker could have been leaked a days before his reveal lol.

Also, how did no one outside this circle find those files? I'd have expected at least someone to dig through the code durong prerelease.

1. Lloyd. I remember playing Tales of Symphonia when I was like 6. I'm so old now that it's a far distant memory, but that game is sooo nostalgic to me. Honestly, any Tales Of rep would make me satisfied, though.
2. A Shin Megami Tensei protagonist. I would rather have one like Demi Fiend over Joker, but I'll take Joker.
3. Doomguy. This initially wasn't a character I cared about at all. But, after hearing how Bethesda had mysterious talks with Nintendo abut Smash, and yet has nothing in basegame, I think it's a valid possibility. I'd mainly like it because it'd be a sort of "defy the odds" sorta reveal. Would be really neat.
4. Isaac. I like Golden Sun, enough said.
5. Skull Kid. Majora's Mask is one of my favorite games of all time.
6. Crono. I realllllly love Chrono Trigger.
7. Another Mother rep would be a dream come true.
8. A XC2 or Xenosaga rep would also be a dream come true. KOS MOS or Rex + Pyra, for instance. UGH that mii costume and those spirits.
9. This one might sound silly, but a Fate rep. Fate/Grand Order is the biggest gaccha in Japan, and its root is as a visual novel and then a PSP jrpg, not an anime like some suggest. It's much more popular than Granblue, but would still be a wtf reveal in the West as gacchas still aren't that huge over here.
10. This one is a toss up. I'm one of those people who thinks Goku would be super cool if he was ever taken seriously and added, though I don't think that'll happen for another while if ever. I would also like a few others like Sephiroth or another FF rep such as Kefka. Or a Kirby villain such as Magalor.

Curious, what Mother Rep would you like to see and who of all those of your wants do you acually think have a real chance of happening?

No, because data was added after Plant and Joker still, it's just been in longer than what we've though.
It's impossible to pinpoint a date for 0.9 or 1.0.0, there's evidence of 1.0.0 existing as far as October.

I like the idea of PW just cause I'd like to see how smash could interpret him, knowing what MvC did. Also, I thoroughly enjoyed the games and see them alongside Bayo as an honorary Nintendo IP.

No. Plant and Joker were stilled added prior to "Brave".

The thing we do get out this is that it's much more likely that Joker and "Brave" could be releasing not too far apart, and they could be in development around the same time.

It also means that we're more likely to get "Brave's" reveal sooner than later.

My NoA contact heard the direct should be this coming week, from the 7th-14th as a range. I wouldn't be surprised if it were the week of the 14th though, that was just the general range he was given. So I'd say within the next 2 weeks. (Personally guessing the 10th, though).

I think it's definitely possible. But however, I think another possibility is that they could skip out on Smash in January and instead do a Smash focused direct in February centered around upcoming content. They did it for Smash 4 so they could definitely do it for Ultimate. We still don't have any game play of Joker nor do we know the stage. That plus new Mii Costumes, new spirits, and the announcement of the brave character could fill up a short 15ish minute Smash Direct. February would also be the month Piranha Plant gets released so they could do a direct on the day they choose to release him and also say "oh hey Piranha Plant will be available after the direct".
