I meant a realistic world, not a picture book fairy tale story like Sonic and the Secret Rings. Heh...the only thing I liked about that game was the soundtrack we all know and love "Seven Rings in Hand" by Steve Conte.

Unleashed would be...err...ok if you didn't turn into a Werehog. He's like the total opposite of how Sonic is suppose to play taking brute strength over speedy acrobatic freerunning.
In which case, you STILL shouldn't be playing Sonic games.

The Genesis/Game Gear Sonic games had imaginary levels.

The South Island in the real world is nothing like the South Island in Sonic 1.

Neither is Angel Island

And when did our world had an advance spacecraft for 50 years?

Or a war tribe of echidnas?

Or ramps right on the freaking road?

Or cities where cars fly in the air?

Or cities with huge pinball machines?

Or a military that has large walking robots?

Or loop de loop formations?

t stages......the experience stuff which unlocked attacks and improved skill
BUT!!!!! I loved the final battle...... after the light gaia colossus appeared i was disappointed cause i was expecting super sonic..... i only played secret rings and unleashed so far so i had never played with super sonic other than brawl... when the fight started though i could see that it was too easy to be all... so i knew i could still hope..... after ive seen yet another stage i was once again dissapointed....more than the first time....when i got it right though just before the cutscenes started i realised that a final fight just could finish with a stage so i was expecting a final round....saw the dark gaia powering up.....saw sonic gathering the chaos emeralds.....and i enjoyed every second of the fight.....
You've only ever played 2 Sonic games?!
You haven't lived .
Sonic 3 had the best Super Sonic fight ever. Seriously it was/ still is epic.

recomend it to all console owners/sonic funs..... at least the controls were way better than SatSR
I really liked SatSR controls, and the game was/ is still fun in short bursts now and then.

Mario and Sonic need Ganondorf.

The problem with that though is explaining to the gamers why they should be intimidated by a baddy who has never defeated your character. With Ganondorf, they fall back on his temporary successes in world domination as well as his overwhelmingly arrogant belief in his own invinsibility to explain how he can be a threat but also always lose.

I kind of do miss him as a final boss, but you can't help but see someone new as the final boss, kind of somthing that Mario game's is sort of missing. ♥
Yeah, but Eggman.. hasn't really been the final boss in a while (well I guess in the handheld gamesyeah, but.. the console versions are more well-known--I think).

Will you stop beating a dead horse already? Pfft...
I already justified what I said when I told you that I don't approve of the whole "imaginary world concept." Apparently, it went in one ear or out the other.......

I'm with you, especially if it means bringing back Special Stages to get them.
I know Heroes had Special Stages, but they were just to get to the final level.

Do you think that Sega would allow him to fly, like his more recent appearances, or just keep his abilities the same as Sonic 2 and 3?

And make sure to bring back Dr. Robotnik's Sonic 2 boss theme, Casino Night Zone music, and Starlight Zone stage/ music, as that is the best stage from the original.

not really.... its much better to control it with the stick + to be able to go back + quickstep to avoid obstacles.... if the wiimote really was 1:1 motion capturing which it was supposed to it wouldnt be frustrating..... but it isnt so there are many errors with SatSR movement and especially because of the speed of that game it ruins everything..... although i liked the story...

I don't like Unleashed's quick step. It seems to restrict your movement to the sides, which is a bit frustrating, as it relies on you to quick step/ drift round corners, because unless you drastically reduce speed, you won't get round a corner otherwise.

The only problems with SatSR controls are in the minigames, the actual gameplay in Story mode is solid, and for a test of using motion control for a Sonic game payed off, and I believe the Wii Remote was used better in this game than in Unleashed.

He's actually slower than normal Sonic in Sonic Unleashed for some odd reason.
Not really; remember the quick time battle? He was basically moving so fast you could complete Apotos in 10 seconds. :p Also remember the final part where he was moving over the shield... thing. The shield was GIGANTIC, and he looked like a BUG moving on it, but he still travel around the thing in half a minute.

Ugh.....to many games are coming out for sonic and they are by far the worst games I've ever played because there is nothing new! Run, collect coins, run, jump, press the "A" button. This just gets too old.

Question about final boss

Does anyone have some tips on how to beat the final boss on the Wii version quick;y?
I've got 6:08, but I messed up on the second running section. I know I'd be able to reduce this time around 4 seconds if I don't mess that up.
What is the best way to attack Dark Gaia's eyes? I usually go left collecting rings, then attack the 3 eyes on it's left side from left to right, collecting a few rings on the way. I then attack then next side from left to right, using up the rings I had just collected. I then go to the front, and attack it's main eye. Is this a good strategy, or is there a better way to finish this part?

That why Sega's tried to add something "innovating" like a Werehog or a sword to make Sonic games fresh. You'll just have to deal with it.

Sonic games basically consist of the tried and true formula with a little twist on it making it go bad. If you don't don't like the core gameplay of Sonic games, I'm guessing that the series just won't interest you anymore.

You know, the fundamental principle behind a 3D Sonic game is kinda a gimmick in itself. That is, the idea of taking a linear platformer, and giving Sonic the "gimmick" of speed. Without Sonic's speed the level design would be completely sub-par, and the designers kinda tacked on the speed elements while in most cases failing to refine it to a point where having a lot of speed is a good thing.

I mean be honest - How many times have you killed yourself in an early 3D Sonic because the character had too much speed and not enough control?

More like bad camera angles.

I can't remember how many times I've died in all of the Tails/Eggman stages on SA2.
So many horrible memories...

As for dying in speed stages, yeah, it was a lot. Luckily Sega's trying to make the controls better now.

Multiply the year you joined by the number of posts you have made to get an accurate answer .

I hated their stages in SA2, except for the Sand Golem for Eggman, and the level for Tails were GUN are after you (I think it took place close to Radical Highway).

Radical Highway had one part where the camera was terrible. It was near the upgrade that would allow you to hover. The camera would not cooperate for some odd reason.

Another was the stage right before rescuring Sonic at the harbor. I went into a corner, and apparently there was a pit there. My friend just looked at me and laughed when he saw me die.

The first part, you just dodge and counter attack Dark Gaia, the second part make sure you use the Sonic Boost when you see a good opening, and the last part when you aim at the eyes with Super Soinc, go left like you said, but use the quick speed to go faster and gather the rings, and attack at the end of the left eye first unless he's doing that attack that he hit's every where, if he does that, attack at the nearest eye. After you finsh all the left, go all the way to the right with the same method, at the end, you should have at least two Sonic boost to finsh off the last blow.

Hope this helps. ;D

Are you guys crying? At least tell us why you don't like the game. Also to wt exo post, what happens if the new Sonic game be better than the old one's? That and if you just play the old one's, they would rust out after you played them to death, then fade away. All game's do, that's why they make new one's.

The only part i disliked about sonic unleashed is the werehog stages, there not bad and not great either. I loved the sonic levels, i thought this is the way sonic games should be from now on. They should make a sonic game where its just sonic and no werehog stuff.

I never liked Sonic games, to be honest. I liked Shadow though, and I like the idea of Sonic shooters.

Actually, I never understood why everyone thinks giving Shadow weapons was a bad idea. Sure the game was easy, but it was also rediculously fun to blow stuff up, and the gun attacks solved a ton of tradtional problems with sonic game mechanics - homing attacks off cliffs, homing attacks into enemy projectiles, enemies attacking out of range, etc. Sure the implimentation was terrible, but the core concept was great.

Shadow the Hedgehog was the downfall of the series.
That's only true if you liked the 2D sidescrollers. I know most people do, but I was never a fan. Heck, I still don't quite get what the big deal is with any part of the series. Sonic started as a fast-pace 2D game that was brutally punishing until you memorized the courses, and became a 3D gimp deathfest with half-baked controls.

I always found the first one ridiculously easy, even the first time I played it.
The second game did require some memorization, especially for the bosses, to get through.

People nowadays seem to think that Sonic should be ridiculously fast and should just speed through levels at incredible speeds. The original Sonic games weren't like that at all; sure, you could run fast, but it wasn't a racing game, it was a platformer. You had to backtrack at some points, move blocks onto pressure pads, pull levers, jump across platforms.

One of the big things about it was that you could take multiple different routes to the end of the level, which added to the replay factor. All 3D Sonic games are linear on the whole, with other optional routes being more of a shortcut that an actual separate path to the goal. Sonic was always about going from left to right (in most cases), but unlike in Super Mario, Sonic games required you to travel vertical as well as horizontal.

And finally, it was the inclusion of Grind Rails that was the major blow to the Sonic series, not Shadow the Hedgehog. On Sonic games after Adventure 2, you have to grind through at least 1/3 of every single level. Either that or the fact they dropped the traditional formula of Act 1, Act 2, Act 3(Boss).

I agree with you. The only game that was good with shadow in it was sonic adventure 2, the games after were a downfall. If you know the story lines to the sonic games you know what i mean.

Quick question about the Wii Werehog stages:
If I finish a level and get an A rank for beating the time and getting enough Force points, but I don't collect enough rings, when I replay the level do I need to meet all 3 requirements again, or can I just collect the right amount of rings and ignore the things I have already completed to get my S rank?

No you don't, if your missing one requirement, you have to do that requirement. For example, if you got all the rings and Force but beat the stage late, you have to redo the stage but just beat the clock.

Sonic Levels: yes the 360/PS3 is kind of faster, but Werehog levels is a much slower than the Wii version, did you even play the Wii version?

That's good to know :).

I finished a Werehog level yesterday, but I finished it 2 seconds late, and I wasn't sure if I could just speed through, without collecting rings.

Thank you Sleepy One :bee:
