Subaru in panic asks if he knew Frederica... And the teen stopped, asking why that name came out his filthy mouth-

He then says "so that's the famous Emilia, the half-devil Roswaal's been helping out" to which Subaru gets defensive saying she's a half-elf, not a devil, but Garfiel doesn't cares. Emilia then woke up, and upon sighting Garfiel, got protective of Subaru-

Emilia asks if they're in the sanctary, he says "come on, you should know, after all you fell asleep thanks to the barrier" so they figure the gem reacted that way due to it, having transported Subaru too, but he asks why it did that to Emilia... Garfiel says that they do know exactly why it affected Emilia as such, and it startled her a bit, and says it's not just half-elves that happens to anyone of mixed blood, including him-
-And with this village being one inhabited by demi-humans, they figure they can't get out this area-
