I call her, Gorocka. After a name from one fake text leak a while back. I don’t necessarily think it’s objectively better then what GameFreak did. Or that I’m better then GameFreak or whatever. All I know is I like this design better, it’s more in line with 1 and 2, it’s what I was picturing for the character for many months now, and I just wanted to put on paper.

Here's something that came to mind as far as future Pokémon ideas go. I'll spoiler it since it's process-of-elimination fodder:

- More Pokémon based on the Cambrian Explosion. Let's get the Hallucigenia before the franchise ends, please:

Girafarig's name is already a palindrome, as is the concept. Let's get the original example in science and paleontology. The best part about the Cambrian animals is that there isn't really a known point where the concepts of "plant" and "animal" even apply to these things. That's how otherworldly they seem.

-Introduce the concept of Speculative Biology, with completely unique Pokémon that come from identical worlds. While Ultra-Beasts already brought in the concept of Alternate Universe Pokémon, the idea here is that these other Pokémon are unmistakably reminiscent of familiar Pokémon. What could fall under this category, you might be asking? Scrapped concepts. These could be retconned and reintroduced, which has been done before in different games.

-Have certain Pokémon in their respective egg groups produce offspring that are genetic hybrids of both parents, but let's not stop at just the idea. Let's improve it further by having its male and female species show obvious differences in the way that Meowstics already appear, as well as the Nido family. This sort of thing could slowly introduce the fanbase to the phenomenon of genetically modified breeding that already occurs IRL. Hence all of the many species of dogs and cats that exist today. That could introduce some interesting mainstays that aren't exactly regional. Perhaps some could even be universal, assuming cuts are still a thing in subsequent mainline games of course.

Generation 5, no contest. Unova had everything, and it remains my favorite to this day.

Can’t say I’m a huge fan of the starter final evos. Not terrible, and they might grow on me though.

Spy lizard is ok, the gorilla is good in concept but something about the execution is offputting, and the the rabbit is just... too human or something. It just doesn’t look great.

The fact that all of them kind of look more like extras in Zootopia rather than fighting monsters makes me sad.

Glad people are getting pumped about the game though, and some of the non-starters are really cool (especially the bug ones).

I will say that I've noticed a trend with the last couple sets of starters, they build up features, and then swap them out with unrelated features in the final evolutions.

Froakie line going from bubble scarf to tongue scarf, Chespin line suddenly dropping brown for beige, Popplio going from clown to mermaid? Torracat dropping elegant cat features for whatever you would call that Tony the Tiger freak, and then these new ones.

It's like they made a bunch of separate Pokemon and then tweaked the bare minimum of the designs to mash them together.
