Maybe I’ll sound cheap, but I’m a fan of 3D animation. I get more enjoyment out of it. With 2D I’m way to critical. General 2D art on it’s own is derived of all fun for me just because I absolutely despise my art.Whatever pays rent. Preferably 2D though.
3D is incredible, don’t get me wrong.Animation is so fun.
I don’t know if you mean 2D or 3D, but I personally find 3D loads of fun.
I know the feeling, I cannot imagine how any of my original animated series concepts would look in 3D.3D is incredible, don’t get me wrong.
But 2D gives me life
That’s what keeps me awake at night.3D is incredible, don’t get me wrong.
But 2D gives me life
3D animation isn't at a level where for commercial TV (my field) it can be as expressive, dynamic, and economically feasible as 2D animation. But I'm also biased because I grew up on 2D animation.Maybe I’ll sound cheap, but I’m a fan of 3D animation. I get more enjoyment out of it. With 2D I’m way to critical. ...
Just had to get that out there.
2D animation looks better visually, imo....3D animation isn't at a level where for commercial TV (my field) it can be as expressive, dynamic, and economically feasible as 2D animation. But I'm also biased because I grew up on 2D animation.
Both have the potential to amaze and impress. Honestly I don’t prefer one over the other.2D animation looks better visually, imo....
But gah i just cant do it
Whenever I try and imagine my character designs as 3D models it just doesn’t feel right. They have to be 2D to work, that’s how I made them.I know the feeling, I cannot imagine how any of my original animated series concepts would look in 3D.
Huh, cool. There's actually a Morgana related thing I really want at the moment, actually...I also found a Morgana Nendroid at the con, which was cool.
Neither The Princess and the Frog nor Winnie the Pooh were financially successful enough to keep Disney's 2D hand-drawn films on track, sadly.Too bad 2D is pretty much dead in terms of movies.
At least it continues on in shows.
I miss ones especially like The Prince of Egypt and The Brave Little Toaster. Favorite classics of mine.
Reminds me of the cursed animation I showed you.3D can be incredible though
The How to train your Dragon movies are amazing examples
And then we had some stinkers like The Emoji Movie3D can be incredible though

Spiderverse is a masterpiece. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.I think 3D animation tries too often to simulate real life. When I saw Toy Story 4 I was amazed at how often the scenery looked like real life, but the sense of style you see in 2D animation is rare, where we are launched into a new world that is a warped reflection of reality. Spider-Verse is the first mainstream CGI movie where I thought it actually showed that spark that you rarely get in 3D animation. Not just in the character designs and scenery, but the way the story was told.
The first three sequels were decent. After that though...The Land Before Time was another childhood favorite of mine. It still holds up today, in my opinion.
...Then it branched off into an insanely lengthy film franchise without any input from the three greats involved with the creation and production of the original. I do consider the first film and it's first ever sequel classics, but the rest? They vary in quality.
That's why I said the sequels vary n quality. The first three sequels were decent after that though...
I’m a bigger fan of the original plushie since I just like the thief aesthetic more, but this one is just so cute.Huh, cool. There's actually a Morgana related thing I really want at the moment, actually...
I totally agree.I wish 2D would return to the mainstream
Steven Universe is ending with the movie this year. With more and more of my favorite animated TV shows ending, I really look forward to what else people can put out there. New shows for me to follow, new stories with new messages to hear, new characters to adore.
Right now all I really have is DuckTales and Steven Universe. Adventure Time ended last year, Gravity Falls and Wander Over Yonder ended in 2016, Regular Show ended in 2017, Star vs. ended this year and MLP (which my interest in has gradually lessened anyway) will be ending this year as well.
No idea how much life SU has left in it, but DuckTales seems like it's going to be sticking around for a while. I'm very grateful for that.
Agreed. The first one is a classic, and a favorite of mine. The others? Eh...I remember 5 and 7 being good. The Land Before Time was another childhood favorite of mine. It still holds up today, in my opinion.

If I ever have the chance to make an animated film, Spiderverse is the kind of movie I want to make.Spiderverse is a masterpiece. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
It really amazes me. It has such charm that otjher animated movies just visually lack.
A lot of movies just look like/copy the Disney/Pixar style, but Spiderverse is truly unique.
When was that confirmed? Because that's the first I'm hearing of this.Steven Universe is ending with the movie this year.
The show has fulfilled its season order. While it's possible it will get some sort of follow-up, the movie is the last of the current ordered production. When was that confirmed? Because that's the first I'm hearing of this.
