Personally for me I despise these live-action remakes because they're not needed given we already have the animated classics and by giving my money for them to Disney would give them more the reason to make these movies.

If you don't have the animated 1992 film I'd go buy that instead.

I wish I could say something regarding Aladdin, but I sadly haven’t seen it yet to form some thoughts.

However, I can suggest without any doubt the Jungle Book remake if you haven’t seen it. I did love that one.

I was told by a friend that Sabi apparently said, “The Hero Direct would leave some fans salty”.

I don’t know what that means, but i’ve heard some fans think Geno has a chance at being revealed as playable.

Bruh, we’re not getting another playable character revealed in a mini-Direct focused on Fighter #2. Expecting Geno to be revealed in that mini-Direct is wishful thinking at best, and even more unlikely that the 4th pick of the Fighter Pass would be revealed not only in the mini-Direct focused on Fighter 2, but before Fighter 3 has even had a chance to be covered.

It’s literally not happening. The “salt” if you ask me is likely either the Geno Mii Fighter Costume coming back, or it not coming back AND Geno not being playable.

Just wanted to mention it. I like Geno and think he’d be cool, but that’s absolutely nothing more than wishful thinking at this point.

As for other companies not currently represented for the rest of the Fighter's Pass, I go with Activision for Crash as my hope.

I don't know how anybody can expect Geno at this point. There's next to no evidence that puts him ahead over other potential candidates. At this point, he sounds like a Smash 6 candidate than Smash 5 DLC.

I don't expect Geno, but I also wouldn't count them out yet either. I do expect them to front load the Fighter's Pass announcements with the most marketable characters--get as many people buying the pass as soon as possible. So it makes sense to leave the more underwhelming/niche characters for the end, and I can see Geno being one of those characters that has a large fan base that would love it, and most other people scratching their heads. And given Geno's status as a third party owned Mario character, it's in a grey enough area, like Sora (being owned by Disney), where I could see them being in despite Square Enix already having Dragon Quest. I don't expect them, but there are reasons to still take them seriously.

This is mostly devil's advocate--I don't expect Geno--but B&K's inclusion shows they are willing to include long-demanded legacy characters, and it's not that much of a stretch to go from that to long-demanded niche characters, particularly one associated with Mario. Makes sense to me as a *final* character for the pass, though I say that knowing Smash/Nintendo rarely does what makes sense.

Nothing at least on their Discord. I honestly wouldn’t expect them to say anything at the moment regarding that.

You go all in on making this Smash amazing for competitive play, and then you add a character that relies on RNG for one of their specials? What gives?

it's not at all what people really wanted/expected with the whole 4 specials for each special theory, but equally the moment-to-moment unpredictability could promote some pretty creative thinking for hero players

Square owns him, Nintendo doesn't care for him, he's unrecognizable to the majority, and there's no reason to use Geno when there's far more popular franchises and characters from Square (like Lara for example), and there's FAR more popular and important Mario characters.

Creative you say?

Well, that is actually an amazing thing to hear, because I do enjoy to be creative regarding videogames, designing stuff and drawing or writing stories/characters.

So the idea of Hero being a fighter who would be awesome with a creative mind does seem to be on my favour.

This is true.

Though, for Game & Watch it’s just a damage/effect/knockback thing. For the Hero, it’s much more strategized.

I will admit that depending on how it’s done, it could work. But i’ll have to see it in action first before I can judge it any further.

I think it depends on what the special is. If it is just a projectile like we saw for Snooze for all of them, then having random effects but working the same could turn out very creative.

I don't think that's likely. People would wonder why they couldn't buy it with the other five via the fighter's pass, and it basically negates the savings made by buying it instead of separately.

i think it's also important to remember that despite ultimate giving some love to the competitive side of things, sakurai is still very much an advocate of hazards-on items-on smash

hero being RNG might be antithetical to a competitive game but it's certainly not antithetical to a party game

G&W has been able to work fine without Judge in the past though, and this time he's even pushing high tier, no thanks to it. We've yet to see if the same is true for Hero though.

Indeed, there are far more popular Mario characters, and then we get Piranha Plant.

But PP, as well as the possibility of a RNG down B for Hero, goes to what I've heard some people say, that Sakurai views Smash as a party game. It's not how I view it--I feel like Smash is in a much higher tier than Mario Party/Sports series. But I feel like regardless of those quirky decisions every now and then, it's still that high tier level, given those decisions make up a fraction of the game.

And I agree on Geno--personally, I'd prefer Sora (again Disney technically owns it, though I believe Square would still be a part of the talks). But I also don't want to underestimate him, or his popularity. It was bewildering when I first got into looking at Smash speculation--it's still bewildering to me--but I also know what it's like to want a character for so long, who's considered an improbability given their ownership and Nintendo's potential views on the character.

To be fair tho, some of the RNG moves Hero has are kinda OP, especially Kamikazee, so maybe you’ll have the moves you want readily accessible. And maybe you won’t and will have to make do with what the RNG gave you
