There are plenty of people who want Porky. I thought
was a niche pick no one really thought about. Got proven wrong. Considering Sakurai said it would be a wild card and never said but it's only a popularity fest of wild cards, this **** is just too suspicious to pass up.
They used DeviantArt sprites for Mother 3 for god's sake. That's mega sus.
I just don't know..even amongst Mother fans, I see more people requesting Kumatora or Ninten than Porky..and how would Porky even play? He's not a fighter and only really fights in his Mech which would make him a bit too large (since him on the in-side should still be comparable in size to Ness). He fits better as a boss, so I'd love to see his Spirit missing because he's going to return as a Boss or something in some Boss Battle mode.
Granted, this is Sakurai we're talking about, the man that included trophies of Dixie Kong and King K. Rool in Melee but not Diddy Kong, the man that took until Brawl to give Mario his most iconic alternate colours, Fire Mario, only to take it away in Smash Ultimate. He sometimes doesn't include the obvious.
As for Simon, the only reason he wasn't highly requested is because of Snake, many people wanted Snake to return and didn't think a company would get two characters, they also thought Konami's recent actions had made it so Sakurai wouldn't work with them. Castlevania is a very popular series and had Snake not been in it would have been requested more, though then it would be between choosing Simon, Richter, or Alucard. Once Bayonetta was in (showing companies can have multiple characters) and Snake was shown to return (showing Sakurai would work with Konami), many people wanted Castlevania representation..the only problem was it came at the same time as Vergeban's leaks.
I just don't think that a Mother rep would be a good fit for DLC and wouldn't really fit in with the other DLC characters (bar Piranha Plant) since they are all characters that are very 'Hype' for a lot of people. I don't really think a niche character like Porky from a niche series like Mother would generate the same reactions we've been seeing with the likes of Joker, Hero, and Banjo-Kazooie..even amongst the DLC for 3DS/Wii U he wouldn't have fit since they were all either Veterans or characters from Popular Games/Series.
