Same, but honestly I'm glad they restarted development instead of pushing forward on a build that apparently wasn't great. I wouldn't be surprised if they reused assets from the failed start to speed up things.

Tbh I vastly prefer 2d metroid; Prime 1 is an audiovisual feast but have mediocre (if not straight up bad) gameplay. Prime 2 improved it, but still. The environments and soundtrack though, plus the immersion? Incredible.
I never had any complaints about the gameplay, it was great in my book.

But then again I only played the Trilogy version so there may be the difference

I've said it before, but MP1 is my favourite game of all time

I could go on for hours about the combat and gameplay mechanics (which are in the Trilogy version too), but I'm not sure you want to hear me tear into your favorite game too much. You enjoy it, and that's all there really is to it lol.

It's a solid game, and I play it sometimes for the atmosphere alone. I just strongly dislike the gameplay, with several of my issues being resolved in Prime 2.

Ooo, such as?
The repeated boss fights, the boss fights that suddenly "end" with you having to sloooowly bomb your way to the other arena, etc. Stuff that was in the original and was stuff they couldn't easily take out.

The only new thing I disliked was the counter, and that's only because it made nearly all enemies have to lunge at you. I would have preferred a mix, with some enemies charging you to be countered and others that just kinda chill, like how they chill in the other metroid games. The increased aggro was fun, but I would have preferred a medium point between the two extremes.

That's unfortunate.

Have you had to chance to chat with any of the kids that are more into intellectual activities rather than kinesthetic activities? Even if there's a certain group of kids that aren't in your group, if groups are merged together for a certain activity...that could be a way to make your preferred group of campers feel more at home, even if the time with them is limited. Also, if there are literally NO kids that are more into "brainy" activities over "physical" activities, trying to find common ground in any way could make the experience more enjoyable.

However, before I continue, I will say...as someone who's served as both a camp counselor and as a teacher, it's important to get on the kids level and remember that it's about the kids; the campers...not yourself, or any of the other counselors for that matter. So, while it may not be something that you expected and something you've even grown to dislike...if you at least show effort in trying to enjoy your time as much as possible, while also giving the campers as good of an experience as possible...it could go a long way. Not only would your resume and reputation be improved, but by showing love and interest in the campers' lives as much as possible, they're getting that care and support that many of them might desperately need; without you even knowing about their personal lives.

Keep fighting...because the positives from the situation could be greater than what you realize.
I’m gonna keep going. It’s hard to get to know any one group of kids because they change and switch every week. But I might talk to my other counselors and see if something can be arranged.

But you’re right. It is about the kids at the end of the day. Part of this is I feel like there are almost definitely less active kids among the group. And that, just like when I was a kid, they just have to grit their teeth and bare it when everyone around them is screaming about dodgeball. Those kids aren’t having fun. Like me when I was there age, they’re going home just having had the work week of their life. I don’t want that to happen to more kids because it absolutely sucked when I went through it and it’s probably why I have stunted social skills. But unless I can make some sort of arrangement, nothing can be done about it.

Outside of the teachers, I mostly feel bad for any kid who currently lives the way I did when I had the same age.

Just alone, having an awful time when it comes to attempting any kind of friendship, mocked on.... all while being in the shadow of someone else (in my case it was my cousins who were not even at the same school as I was, yet people always prefered them over me anyway) and only serving as the one to share their phone number or as the source of every joke.

For those kids, I just hope that life gets more fair for them in the future.

Speaking as one of those kids, there's something to be said for being pushed out of your comfort zone. Not to mention physical activity

My life before high school was basically a mix of the “Strange Things are Happening to Me” and “I Will go Sailing no More” scenes from Toy Story 1.

The only differences are that unlike Woody I didn’t have any support or friends during the first years of my life at school, the lies about life I had boiled down to people who I used to trust turning against me in the end instead of just not being a star command soldier and my cousins taking Buzz’s role on the former song.

Needless to say, I love Toy Story 1 the most out of all the films in the series since it is the one I deeply relate with the most on a personal level.

If I had SMM2 I'd be playing it right now but I'll probably have to wait until September at the earliest so yikes. How is the game though what're everyone's opinions on it?

Well, my opinion is more of a fact, and that is “If you exist, play it.”
