On the whole speculation bit, just remember how bad it gotten with the Grinch Leak. People were threatening each other, bet their accounts, got violent for no reason, all over all a bunch of pixels.

And again, a lot of them were 20+ year olds.

So yeah, the moment you realize this is ridiculous, the better your life becomes.

I swear Michael, I pay attention to your stuff but you should get into writing with some of these. Like a collection of short horror stories or a flash fiction of 2,000 words.
I would but a combination of massive writer's block and obsessive-compulsive thoughts.

One day...One day when I overcome them. I know it happened a while back as I suddenly came up with an ideal script for Mega Bear but then it soon came back to me...-_-

The Grinch times were so dumb.

I was on team fake.

People got SO hostile over a leak...

This is what I mean. People take Smash speculation WAY too seriously.

There's a difference between showcasing your passion for Smash by partaking in activities like speculation and supporting your favorite characters, and being borderline obsessive by hyper-analyzing a blurred out image from an extremely unreliable source that has the high possibility of just being pornography.
I agree that it's dumb to assume what is most likely from a hot girl video is actually pieces of a fighter render. But some of these comments ITT just make me think "What did you expect from SMASHboards? Fans of Smash Mouth?"

Smash speculation is a phase every user here goes through. Some people stay in it longer than others. Eventually, the realization kicks in, and you start to take it far less seriously.

There's nothing wrong with talking about your favorite game, but holy ****, does this fandom bring out the claws, and quickly, in heated debates and discussions.
Like I said, I'm just here now cause I enjoy talking to some of you guys (hopefully vice versa) and I'm thinking of leaving for a bit once the next fighter is out.

The speculation just gets too tiresome. Don't even want to know how bad it is on places like GameFAQs everytime **** like this happens as at the end of the day whether you like or not, it's just a game really. There's bigger problems in the world not to mention.

Like, speculation is fun. I enjoy speculating and theorizing about what's coming next from Nintendo. I also have always been fascinated by the leaker scene and always liked theorizing about it and the stuff that goes on behind the scenes that leads to stuff getting leaked.

However, there are some instances when a rumor and/or source is just so blatantly fake and not worth your time, and in my opinion, I believe this is one of those times. Tiffany Treadmore is not an insider, nor does she have anything that even resembles anything trustworthy or legitimate, and the obsessive levels some are going to to try and cling to her words just shows some people are taking this thing way too seriously. I get some of y'all are bored and want news, but this whole business with Treadmore's nonsense is honestly starting show a desperation from some that is really not a healthy attitude.
Hit it on the head. I'm interested in the leaker scene for the same reason as you. I like hearing more about the process of what goes on than the actual leak such as how protected are the characters identities, who are allowed to know as early as possible and how the designing happens. That to me would be fun. Even how the character requests work in office.

-----------------------------
Also I see you guys talking about the Grinch leak and the ESRB leak. I was lurking that far back and while I can't remember who the hell said what, I was pro Grinch and believed the ESRB early. Bloody hell, I should've joined back then on the first one.

I don’t visit Newcomer Speculation anymore, I’m mainly in here or the Geno thread. Would be in the Steve thread too, but most Steve support is on Twitter. The B-K thread and others aren’t really active much anymore, and I’m not sure what to say in them, just if I find something cool I may share.

I find speculation okay. A lot of us are just hoping our favorite characters get in, and like hearing rumors and seeing potential leaks and stuff and finding them plausible. It’s kinda fun.

Some people definitely take it too far, though. Like the “deserving” arguments, people putting other characters’ fans down or just being obnoxious about a potential inclusion they don’t want (yeah it’s cool if you don’t like them but goodness), some people pushing their opinion as objective fact, some even contradicting themselves...

But it seems to also work the opposite way. If you find a potential leak/rumor to be plausible, some people won’t take kindly to it and will assume you’re an obsessed crazy even if you’re neutral or leaning on fake/it not meaning much, and are just hoping people could act kinder over it. It’s disheartening. And I’m not talking about Tiffany and her kind of “leaks” (though I feel making fun of people over that, and assuming all who entertained it as obsessive, isn’t any better).

What was the largest leak that came true in Smash Bros. Ultimate?
Edit: Misread, my bad

Also, shoutouts to that one person on tbjs very site who straight up said that Brawl was delayed because of Sonic, and then everyone clowned on the dude. The mods locked the post and changed it to make him look like a liar.

Well, he was right.

I got a noise machine! The machine is supposed to remove noise so I can concentrate and focus. Hope it works.
ESRB, it pretty much leaked everything in the 3DS version.

It also even kinda sorta leaked Mewtwo iirc.

I meant Ultimate, not Smash 4.

Outside of the game itself leaking, the closest we got was either Verge as mentioned before or Emily as she leaked the title and implied 'Everyone is Here'. We didn't have a huge early drop like the ESRB leak or even a big text leak like Ninka/Vaanrose for Smash 4 or NyaseNya/ChaosZero for Brawl.

Didn’t that verge dude predict like half of the newcomers?

What happened to him anyway?
He went upstairs to check on that LoL rumor.

And was never seen again.

Here's the script to my Mega Bear Lost Tapes episode if anyone is interested. Dutch Raikuna Dutch Raikuna if you're interested.

-Beginning with these two hikers, one of them showing the other this beautiful spot, a cliff over a lake, they then hear something before the bear comes out of the bushes and kills them.

-As the father and children are driving to the location, the radio talks about the two missing hikers, which had happened to occur around the same area, telling campers to be cautious.

-Upon setting up camp and settling down, they hear noises from the bushes but before they can find it, whatever caused it disappeared.

-The following night after roasting marshmallows and going to sleep, they hear the noise again and the sounds of stuff dropping, thinking its a grizzly bear, the father tells his children to stay quiet as a shadow of the short-faced bear can be seen through the tent, after a few moments, it disappears.

-The next day, they go fishing with the father teaching them how to, while doing so they come upon the mauled body of a grizzly bear which the father assumes was the result of another grizzly.

-As they return, they find their camping area completely destroyed, tent was torn up, food everywhere, stuff all over the place, if that's not the worst of all, the fathers truck has been heavily damaged beyond repair, claw marks all over it and the tires destroyed, leading to the father to think it was the grizzly bear the following night.

-With no help of any other campers nearby or wifi, he and his children go looking for other campers who could be in the area, as they do this, they begin to hear the bear following them, the father tries to scream and yell to scare it away but to no avail and assures his children will be okay.

-As they continue to search for help, they finally encounter the bear who had caught up to them but to their surprise is not like any grizzly bear known and rather bigger with a short face with white markings and longer legs, as it draws closer and realizing staying still isn't helping, the father tells his children to run as they try to get away as fast as they can.

-Night falls and thinking they had lost the bear, the children begin to cry being scared about the situation, the father comforting them and that they'll make it out of this, as they proceed, the bear can be heard again forcing them to get away quicker, they narrowly avoid the bear again, catching a brief appearance of it again.

-They come upon a grisly sight, upon catching an awful stench, underneath some grass and leaf material is not only the carcass of and dead moose but those of the two missing hikers as well. The father gets his children not to look.

-Exhausted from running all night, he and his children continue to hear the bear keeping up with them, having slowly stalked them taking its time, with no other options, they proceed to hide somewhere with the father making the hard decision to sacrifice himself (Wielding a camp knife) and fight the bear after finding a place to hide his son and daughter telling them to stay where they are and that he loves them very much despite their pleas to him not to go, as he goes to face the bear, his children hear him scream at it to take him on, a brief fight is heard soon following the cries of agony and pain from the father as the bear proceeds to kill him off-screen.

-The epilogue goes on to reveal when he and his children had never returned from their camping trip that a search party was put in place eventually finding the children who are clearly traumatized and brought back to their mother and though his body was never found aside from blood on the ground, the father's cause of death is listed as a grizzly bear attack with the search for the bear but it was nowhere to be found afterward.

I was there for Ultimate speculation, but I just wanted a memory refresher.

Also I can still hear noises even if the noise machine is on. Does that mean it is not working?

I never really delved into speculation. Debating who the character is kinda sucks the fun out of it for me. I'd rather await the character than have arguments and get pissy over a video game.
I only recently starting getting into Speculation... but it quickly dawned on me that.. eh. not for me. Really I mainly frequent that thread so I can ask occasionally questions and shill my wants but nothing else really interests me there.

He seems to have just dropped out after leaking the Byleth presentation’s Mii costumes minutes before their reveal. I don’t blame him, he would get harassed by a bunch of people even when he was right iirc.

You ever get it when you buy a game and a part of you is already second thoughts even though you really wanted it?

I'm already getting that with 3D AllStars!

Holy crap, was actually listening to the What a Cartoon! podcast just last night covering the show. Kind of surprised they're still debuting it on Hulu instead of HBO Max (not complaining, Hulu is the service I'm currently subscribed to). Am kind of worried about the budget but this definitely looks promising like the new Looney Tunes shorts.

Am curious to know if they'll bring back some of the other characters aside from the big 5. Tiny Toon cameos would also be welcome.

Why do you feel that way?
Don't know, been feeling like that with every game now to be honest. Trying to calculate money even though I'm OK and then some. One big game a month, one small game is enough.

Guess I'm just adulting money in a way. Being more cautious by instinct with it. And I spend too much money on snacks for my age.
