So if Hero is set for a summer release it also stands to reason we will get more game content. Pirahna Plant came with multiplayer in spirit mode, and Joker came with stage builder and online content sharing (other things were added with both, but I view these as the largest additions)... why not play along and rank the following modes in order of most to least likely to be added with Hero? (Listed in no particular order here). If you want to add your personal order of want after order of likelihood, go for it.

A) Target Test Mode
B) Board the Platforms
C) Home Run Contest
D) Boss Rush Mode
E) Multiplayer world of light
F) Smash Run
G) ...Smash Tour....
H) Subspace Emissary HD
I) Trophies or coin launcher or any sub mode there
J) Other (one not named but you’d really like or really think is likely)

Can we all get a hand for the cunning god of death?:ultridley:

I'd say most to least

C, D, E, I (Adding character descriptions to the fighter spirits), A (Brawl style), F, G, H, A (Melee style), B

If I had to pick....

Hero will come with Home Run Contest. Banjo will come with Boss Rush (and added bosses from Subspace and beyond). Character 4 will come with Smash Run (or Subspace HD. I want to be realistic but I would love that). And Character 5 will come with... idk what. I would love it to be trophies (especially if you just automatically unlock the ones you gain from the spirits you unlock).

What if around the date of Nintendo Stockholder’s meeting we got the date for Hero?

It may not happen, but I suppose only time will tell.

Man, even on medium, CTR NF's Adventure Mode is tough.

Might try it on easy.
I am playing the whole game on Medium difficulty and it has been easy up until I got to Pinstripe’s track.

Maybe I’m better at the game than I thought.

IF every fighter came with a new mode?

Hero and online Squad Strike and Smashdown
Banjo and online tournaments and a new ranked mode (Quickplay becomes unranked)
Character 4 and Home Run Contest
Character 5 and individualized Break the Targets akin to 64 and Melee.

Those would be my ideal and dream set.

A: Target Test. I think it's definitely gonna return later down the line in some form. More likely it will be in the vein of Brawl, because I'd see it being hard to make unique stages for 70+ fighters even if the echos share stages with their base fighters, but I'd be cool with either.

B: Board the Platforms: I'm really not sure. I guess I'll put it's chances at 50/50 (higher if they make a few set stages like Brawl's Target Test)

C: Home Run Contest: Basically confirmed to be in the game and is 99% gonna be the next mode. I also feel it willl recive some form of evolution like the Stage Builder did.

D: Boss Rush Mode: It should seem like a no brainer to include this, but then, you'd expect it to be in the base game. If they're enchancing the expirience in some way though, I'd understand it's absence (like adding the remaning bosses from Subspace, which I could absolutely see being a late decision that caused the mode to miss the Base Game)

E: I highly doubt nobody in the dev team brought up this complaint. The fact they didn't add 2 Player World of Light when they added Multiplayer Spirit Board is a pretty bad omen, though.

F: I'd love this to come back, but I seriously don't think it's coming. Weirder things have happened before, so 35% chance for me.

G: Never coming back, and good ****ing riddance.

H: Literally 0% chance of happening, as hype as it would be. And if it DOES somehow happen, it's sure as hell not gonna be part of the Challenger Packs, this would be a completely separate patch.

I: If trophies were too much work for the base game, Saks would probably still consider them too much work now and I don't think he'd consider it worthwhile over the other options for DLC.

J: I see a lot of extra improvements being added to the Stage Builder and some other modes. Like maybe we'll get the other hazards/backgrounds from Brawl and we might even be able to use custom stages in Training Mode. Why the **** is this not a thing? Does anybody know how to send direct feedback to the dev team?

I think at the bare minimum All Star may return, but NOT with the last character of the pass. They may just improvise as more characters are added like they did with 4.

I have a feeling that if Break The Targets returns they will pull the mode similar to Brawl.

I would expect 2P WoL to happen tho, especially since we do have 2P Spirit Board. For the final boss, both players form two unique three character parties, bam, any potential problems have been solved. Maybe even do that 2P revive thing that iirc Subspace Emissary had

I could see Break the Targets or Board the platforms returning as custom modes within the stage editor.

Home-Run Contest is a lock given the datamine.

I believe Boss Battles is very likely due to the rumored Minecraft content by Verge (which entails the Enderdragon boss) so naturally I believe Boss Battles will return accounting for the ones in game and new ones.

All-Star mode is a maybe. Perhaps in the last content roll-out with Challenger Pack 5 we could see All-Star mode return.

Break the Targets is 99% not happening IMO. And TBH it's not something worth bringing back given the time it would take.

Dont break my heart with that last paragraph.

Not sure why people want All-Star mode back. It was absolutely terrible in Smash 4 due to the cast size.

Yo real talk if they brought back Coin Launcher I would be the happiest man alive.

I spent an unreasonable time in there in the Brawl days. Quite possibly better than the game itself. :)

And I imagine because people can create break the target in a custom stage editor that a mode like that wouldn't take very long to create. You wouldn't need Sakurai for something that already exists anyways.

Ehh...I mean unless it's like the Target Test from 64/Melee (which would take an unreasonable amount of time that isn't worth the resources) then I don't see it's worth. Yeah it could be like Brawl's but that version was criticized for being too generic and the Smash 4 version is almost universally hated. As someone who loved the mode in 64/Melee (even Brawl to an extent), I don't see the point of bringing it back.

I agree with you on your point with All-Star mode. I just think that if there were 5 rounds for characters introduced in a particular game, All-Star mode would work.

That's better than Smash 4's target atrocity.

In my opinion this is the best possible outcome, people could remake the old ones and we wouldget an infinite number of new ones.

As much as I'd love individual Break The Targets, that's unfeasible. Returning the ones from Brawl or 4 is fine, though. They were unique and interesting for what they were. Not as cool, but you could only do so much. Being generic was the only choice at that point.

Gonna say something that will likely never happen...

But I would be hyped as hell if they shadowdropped Pac-Maze through an update in Ultimate.

Then again, that’s unlikely.

I'll take 'em over Brawl's any day. They both were generic and samey, but at least I had something worth grinding for, especially in the 3DS version. I honestly loved Target Blast!!

Brawl's wouldn't have been so bad if we didn't do 2 of them per Classic Mode, instead of having an actual useful second Bonus Game, like Grab The Trophies(Trophies got stupidly hard to get in Brawl compared to Melee and 4). Didn't also help that Brawl's Classic was just too damn long and got boring fast. I even enjoyed Wii U's version more since it was still shorter and more interesting since it had way more RNG as is(meaning more variety) but also had stuff you could potentially get each stage(Trophies, Mii Costumes/Hats, Custom Moves, Custom Equipment). 3DS version is the one I play the most because going in each Classic gives me the potential to get something new. Unless they're Trophies, cause it doesn't want to give me new ones as is these days.

The only thing I find frustrating is the idea they won't remove Custom Moves/Mii Costumes and Hats from the pool after you successfully got them and finished the mode. That's just poor design with RNG. It's fine to get multiples of Custom Equipment at least, since you can sell those. And Trophies are counted per the number you get, compared to Moves/Hats/Costumes, so it's not nearly as big of a deal. It still is a design flaw, and it should be far more likely to get a new Trophy too each new playthrough.

I think Pac-Maze was tied explicitly to the 3DS’s functions, I forgot how, but I don’t count on it coming back

Wasn’t that one Yoshi Wooly World from Wii U stage cut too? Though I think that one was very graphically intensive due to some particle effects...

Pac-Land doesn't require a 3DS gimmick and developers aren't petty. It's not that hard.

Also, unpopular opinion but I rather enjoy Pac-Land, it has a cute aesthetic.

Okay. Hear me out. What if...

Mario Kart x Crash Team Racing
I have something better:

Mario Kart X Sonic Racing X Crash Team Racing X Diddy Kong Racing

I do enjoy Pac-Land too.

The fact they actually implemented the whole arcade game into a single stage is cool.

And I like the day-evening-night cycle.
