Gonna split this post into two. So I've been playing Death Stranding and it's made me want to ask you guys a game related question.

Are there any games that you love yet dislike extremely equally? You love one part of it but hate so much of another?

I'll throw three examples.
Death Stranding - Love it when it is about a post apocalyptic deliveryman. Hate it so much with the supernatural stuff.
Final Fantasy XIII - Love the character designs, music and world design. Hate the battle system and wished it was fully open world.
Mirrors Edge Catalyst - Love it when you are just running and collecting stuff. Hate it when the game throws you away from it.

Every month since May I have been patiently waiting for Ed Edd n Eddy to join that newfangled HBO service so I can relive some memories.

Every month I have been disappointed.

True story btw.

I main Pyro and Demo, but Spy is like my third or fourth most played class.

He's ingeniously designed and makes you feel like a true assassin or trickster when you're playing as him.

Except for when there's so much gunfire that it's impossible to get behind enemy lines and therefore contribute to your team. Looking at you, Dustbowl stage 3.

I used to play TF2, until in true me fashion I turned on hacks one day and forgot to turn them off(I liked ****ing around in training mode, don't judge me)

It was like not even a few months before the jungle inferno update too. Do I regret it? yes. Would I go back? No tbh. Not having updates as is is slowly starting to make the game feel the same, even when just watching gameplay clips all day.

I find the premise strange because I would not try to play or quickly drop a game that fits this description. Games can look great, have a good setting and character design but in terms of gameplay fit into a genre I don't like. However there are plenty of games I played when I was younger that fit this description, and most of them are games with wildly varying gameplay where some of it is fun and others aren't. Examples: Sonic Adventure 2, the emerald hunting levels aren't super fun to me, and when it came out I was sad they didn't just make mostly Sonic/Shadow levels. Same with Unleashed, the day levels were pretty passable at the time while the nighttime werehog levels were awful. To be clear, I don't particularly like any of either of those games nowadays because even their "good" parts have aged poorly. Sonic Adventure 2 retains some nostalgia tho

Well time to decide what anime to watch tonight. and post about it later. Probably get a thing or two into the Discord chats as well.....

Thank you!

Thanks! And GhostAlienBee’s artwork that’s being used for the videos will have shading. We don’t have any plans to use those refs for videos.
Your friend has pretty distinctive drawing and while not my cup of tea artistically, I love stuff that I could easily pick out from a crowd. Looking forward to hearing more about your projects.

And now to bless this thread with a picture my mom shared of the family dog, Kiddy, with a teddy bear.
Dude that dog is adorable. I love smiling dogs.

You have blessed us.

Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix: The gameplay is kinda fun (at least with the post game content against the data bosses and Lingering Will) and the music is nice, but I hate it every time the characters start talking. Trash story.

Sonic Adventure: I still have a great time with the Sonic stages but almost everything else about the game is pretty terrible. Too many vastly different gameplay styles are being juggled around for my tastes, with Big the Cat's levels being particular stinkers.

Mega Man X6: It's not a good game and the level design pisses me off, but breaking the game with Zero can be a little enjoyable, so I guess I'd consider it a guilty pleasure.

I don't play too many games so I don't have many to talk about... but my god Kingdom Hearts Re: coded is just...weird. I hated that game as a kid because it came off a creepy to 10-year me who didn't know wtf Kingdom hearts was and had no context whatsoever. It's still kinda scary tbh, but it makes for a fun nostalgia trip and something to do while bored, that's for sure.

Saints Row 2: Completely botched PC port that requires a fan patch, an official patch was announced but is taking so goddamn long, and the graphics, gunplay, and driving feel incredibly cheap. Yet its world is still full of activities, customization, and immersive pedestrian types/interactions you just don't see in GTA.

Sekiro - I adore everything about the game: the visuals, the music, the combat. However, it was 60 hours of what felt like repeatedly slamming my head against a brick wall. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Would I ever do it again? No, or at least not anytime in the near future.

Mortal Kombat 11. Has one of the best rosters in modern MK history, including SPAWN, THE TERMINATOR, and ROBOCOP! As well as a sick ass cybernetic Frost, my crimson baby Skarlet, and my speedy boy Kabal. But the Krypt is horrible and the battle system is sooooooooooooo slow! Not to mention the story is horrible in terms of wrapping up the current MK timeline and they made the horrible evil raiden and zombie characters the DEFAULT SKINS. Despite not being the versions you control in story mode and despite THE DIALOGUE NOT MATCHING THE SKIN!! They still talk like they're not revenants even though they physically are! It just sucks so much. I love it just as much as I hate it and I hate that. I wish they could have just not done the bad things and just done the good things and expanded on them.

Destiny 2

The gunplay is among the absolute best there is in any shooter, the music is excellent, the game is beautiful to look at and several characters are really fun like Drifter. But damn the gameplay loop once the story is done is dull and were it not for the gunplay, I wouldn't be playing it. No matchmaking for Raids, Dungeons or higher level Nightfall strikes also suck.

Musou games as a whole also fit this.

It's fun knocking away hordes of enemies and just tearing across a battlefield. But that also begins to wear thin as you do more and more content. But by then you've likely put hundreds of hours in and if it takes that long to reach that point it's not that big of an issue, certainly makes it tough to go back to them after a while though. There's also how a the balance between movesets tends to be awful, you'll have plenty of movesets that are extremely fun to use but you also tend to have several that are dreadful. Individual games also have their own issues that vary with each entry. Hyrule Warriors has the giant bosses that just aren't fun and break the flow of combat plus dodging feels really stilted to me, Berserk has an atrocious roster that makes a lot of the FE:W roster complaints look more entitled than they already are, DW9's open world wasn't great, FE got silly with four characters sharing a bow moveset and also the Fates cast as a whole just being royals + retainers plus IS mandating that the twins use swords as opposed to an axe and a lance like they were meant to and so on.

Hit it on the head with MK11.

Another example for me would have to be EA sports games.

FIFA, Madden, NBA etc are amazing when it's just you playing it against a friend. I've found memories of playing against friends and family when it comes to FIFA over the years. Just too much is there and EA's corporate meddling.

Plus FIFA played a role in how my brother became who he was admittedly to me so that's a reason why I pushed away from it.

Am I insane for not liking dogs all that much? lol
Dude I see you as a pretty good friend on here. After you said that though, I still see you as one...........just 1% less.

Yo, can any of y'all with some YouTube experience help me out?

My channel banner is lookin' quite low res for some reason, not sure how to fix that. I set the dimensions as 2560px x 1440px
I don't have too much experience but... it might be a good idea to go back to the source file and check the quality; sometimes youtube just throttles the quality for whatever reason and you may just have to redownload it at the highest quality possible. Take this advice with a grain of salt of course.

Tekken 7 - I've been a huge fan of the franchise since Tekken 3, although the gameplay and cast of characters is definitely the strongest point in Tekken 7, I felt the game's story and short character episodes were rather lacking in contrast to Tekkens 4 and 5 as well as the omission of "Team Battle", a mode which I highly enjoyed in past series.

Kingdom Hearts 3 - Whilst the gameplay is certainly my favourite aspect, I was not particularly a fan of the game's story. In addition, I just wish they put more effort in to some of the Disney universes, Frozen's Arendelle is one of those missed opportunities.

Oh that's another good one.
Love me some football and getting my team back where they belong in the Premier League.

But EA can miss me with these glorified roster updates with broken career modes and still predatory Ultimate Team ****e. Get some new commentators too, they're still using clips from FIFA 11 that I've heard over and over and over.

While we don't know if it's true or not (at least, last time I looked into it we didn't), there is evidence that the Frozen world was changed very last minute. Between the repetitive going up and down the mountain, Hans not speaking at all despite being the final encounter, some of the NPC dialogue, and there being a whole bunch of space in Elsa's palace that's fully modeled and explorable with no real reason to do it, it's very likely that the original story of that world was supposed to be about Elsa struggling with her own inner darkness, and that the Wolf Boss at worlds end was supposed to be a transformation SHE underwent instead of Hans. And you would have fought her in that big empty room in the palace. This lines up with some comments Square made about how Disney was MUCH more controlling of what they could or couldn't do in these worlds this time compared to any other Kingdom Heart's games production, to the point that they actually found it kind of not fun to work on. I buy it completely, myself. That world reads much more like Mouse Meddling then Square dropping the ball.
