Once people stop treating linearity like a dirty word and realize that some people just don’t like open worlds and “hey, if that’s true, maybe every game shouldn’t have one”, then I will stop
Imma keep it real with you, it just sounds like you’re making excuses to continue this behavior. It’s like a kid who stole their friend’s toy because their friend stole their toy, it’s not justified, it’s childish. You keep talking about how people hate linear games with an unnecessary burning passion, but you’re just the other side of the coin. That’s not any better, it’s hypocritical. And even then, people love linear games. Loads of games are linear and loads of em’ get generally positive reception. Folks realize that some people don’t like open worlds, but when you’re being biased like this, of course they aren’t going to take you seriously.

Split in two. Last post for my Xenoblade fans. The other for what Snake said earlier.

How does GoT stand out? It’s like every other game that comes out. Open world. Slow combat. Overly serious. There have been games that let you be a Samurai before. In this genre even. Look at Nioh or Sekiro. And they didn’t require the people who used to make Sly Cooper and inFamous to spend their resources on them when they could have been doing something more unique instead.
"And now onto this for Snake in regards to the game."

Have you seen any thing of those three? Any gameplay at all?

Comparing to Nioh or Seikro is like Apples and Chickens. Pretty different.

"Open world"

Then boy, you must dislike GTA, Red Dead, Breath of the Wild, Assassin's Creed etc. Even sectioned open world RPGs like Xenoblade or Tales as well. It's a common game design and we've all been used to it for almost 20 years. Need to get over it.

"Slow Combat"

Do you know what Samurai fights are like historically? (Yes the Bushido code was a few centuries after the game takes place). It's meant to be tactical and hard. Slow? Not really. As a matter of fact personally, this is one of the few games I legit play on hard because it is that damn fun and strategic.

"Overly Serious"

Yes but again, look at Kurosawa, the influence. And side quests show a bit of more of a humorous side, especially the sake seller. Should watch more there on that front.

"There have been games that let you be a Samurai before."

On this scale and quality by a damn good developer in a realistic setting? Hell no. Closest far and away to something like that is maybe the Yakuza spin-off and that's not localised. This is the setting people have been banging on Ubisoft's doors for years for AC. And honestly, thankfully it wasn't them.

I'm done.

I wouldn't worry too much, the crazy **** tends to be contained to election years.

Ever notice that? Things always get to crazy around election year while the years inbetween feel like nothing ever happens
As a non American but still affected it does seem pretty crazy but man this has been a weird few years for where I am from as well. Just your's is one of the most powerful men in the world scarily enough.

2020. I remember when I was a kid, I thought that was going to be the mythical year where the world would have been fixed. Instead it seems to be breaking.

Came back from my nap.

Thinking about buying Pringles later, in around half an hour.

Ever had moments when you felt so dumb for buying something and regret it later?

That was me last night. Ordered Pokemon Blue on one of my 3DS so I can start trading between my Gen 1 and 2 teams before sending them to Gen 6

Guess what happened?

Turned on my other 3DS and discovered I bought blue years ago

....but on the bright side this one can be at least "storage" for my Pokemon lol

All I have to say is, yes. It’s common. But at the rate the industry is progressing and the way the dominant narrative is currently structured, soon it will be the only gameplay style that exists. Which would blow. You know what happens when you ignore certain genres? You loose customers. And as a huge mega publisher, you’d think they’d want to keep as many as possible.

Name one that’s not an indie that took the gaming world by storm and everyone heaps nothing but praise on and makes enough money to continue as a franchise.

Okay, I don’t think I’m gonna be playing Wind Waker with pajama Link.
Yet.
Does anybody have any virtual console games they’d recommend?

Nothing but praise? That’s impossible, you know that. Nothing is perfect. And even then, you’re ignoring the points I brought up, and I don’t see how this question relates to the discussion. I never said open world or linear games are perfect.

Then let the river flows as it goes. And also;

"soon it will be the only gameplay style that exists"

Wow. I've seen less dramatisation from a tabloid newspaper than this.

It will never be. Your favourite genres are never down and out, talking about this from an extreme sports fan. A lot of us thought gaming would have been destroyed by mobile and stuff. How are you so confident in it, cause it just seems like you are screaming a bit today than being logical here.

Pretty much hit it on the head there. She's dancing around the points we're trying to make. However I'm not in the mood to dance with this as I was hoping for a good, clean cut quick debate.

Nothing is without critique and we all know this. There's a difference between disagreeing and being hatefully biased. She seems to be a bit on the latter today.

This whole complaint is silly when Crash 4 is coming out soon and when indies are being arbitrarily discounted.

Metroid Prime Trilogy, Super Mario 64, Metroid Zero Mission, Metroid Fusion and many more.

Edit: Donkey Kong Jungle Climber too. That one's from my childhood.

Good suggestions. I’m probably gonna go with Metroid Prime Trilogy. Hopefully by the time I finish those we have more news on the 4th game. Thanks!

Going to do a self blocking for three hours. Added all 10 of the websites I commonly look in when I distract myself from story work instead of just here and Discord.

Have a good idea on another character but let's see what happens.

Just trying to get my focus back.

Wait, really?? I mean, it’s not as good as STAR FORCE but still. I’m definitely gonna get it when I next get the chance.
Most of the Megaman games are on WiiU virtual console if I remember right.

Cool thing is that since you can't trade between versions in this release they just give you the version exclusive and content locked behind stuff like ereader via cheat codes instead.

I’ve almost finished my area in terms of what I can do right now, but i’m kinda stumped on what kinds of decorations I could add to my recording area to make it look more lively.

Spider-Man PS4.

Snake. Stop. You're being childish. Just because games don't specifically appeal to your tastes does not make them bad or generic or "dime a dozen." You're downplaying the hard work the devs put into games like Ghost, which has an engrossing story and a very fun and unique combat system as well as feeling very real and you're comparing it to actual dime a dozen franchises like FIFA or CoD. If you haven't played the game and are basing your claims off of 20 minutes of press footage, you don't have any room to complain about them.

That’s..
I know what I’m gonna do whenever i get the time and/or money!
Seriously though, I haven’t played a Mega Man game in a while. I should get back on that.

If there's one thing I miss from before the "end times" that is 2020, it's going to conventions every year with my brothers and friends, due to not living in the same town it's not exactly easy to meet up so every year we always headed down to the comic con and hung out around the building and the mall nearby

I wish I could go to a con at some point

Never had a chance because my parents simply don’t have time to travel across the country for a weekend most of the year

Blocking websites is a good idea. If I had more guts, I'd do the same, since lack of concentration is my greatest weakness.

I know this likely isn’t gonna happen, but out of all my most wanted characters for dlc, I really want a Wizard101/Pirate101 character.

Maybe the main wizard character with the trailer being an extension of Simon’s, but in Castle Darkmoor instead? I doubt it would ever happen in my lifetime but at least it’s eligible I guess.

I could definitaly also see Captain Avery or Merle Ambrose, but I feel the player Wizard is just that more iconic to the games as a whole, and the Player Pirate would be difficult to implement due to the vast amount of crewmates you can get in Pirate101(let alone the vast majority are furries which would be fun to see the fallout on but that would be a big risk for Nintendo to take)

Just realized that the day I find out if I enter college (July 30th) is also the day Transformers Siege starts streaming on Netflix.

May be a really exciting day if all goes planned.

You say that now, but wait until you actually play as Dante. (the boss cutscene in mission 17 is a highlight)

Nero's a lot of fun to play as, though. It's so satisfying to pull enemies in and dunk them.

Found something interesting in regards to the Simpsons:

FYI, all the rating scores on this chart are taken from IMDB. They've sure have been losing steam in the later years, huh?

Nero's simpler style seems more up to my alley and judging from the guide, his controls feel a little more intuitive.

Dante's hotter, though, I'll give him that.

So i searched up the pre season 10 episodes that had bad ratings. One was a clip show, and the other was also a clip show.

The two that got garbage ratings was Lisa Goes Gaga and Bart vs Itchy and Scratchy.

They've been losing stream since the episode of the real Seymour. This series should have ended at least since the movie.

But nope ratings are only what matters while degrading it in quality. I cant understand how they cant kerp franchises as good as they are when they first began...
