Every time I see a once great studio like Rare put out a disappointing “modern” title like Everwild, I loose a bit of faith in the gaming industry. Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch are also examples of this.
Bloody hell Snake. Now that's just mopey.
And you didn't place good examples out there with ND and SP, especially with their reception the two games they released.
Yes The Last of Us II, had issues in regards to handling some stuff story wise but it has done some of the biggest risk taking with it's story theme of hate. People "hate it" but in a good way. Could have been better yes with some other places but it still did what it intended.
And Sucker Punch? They just created a game people have wanted for YEARS, including myself and a few others here. An open world samurai game which they did deliver in spades. A little repetitive and has issues? Yes but it's amazing.
They did accomplish what they intended to do stand out? You can bet on it.
You mean, like your own personal opinion that you treat as a marker of objective quality that anything with an open world element to it is the spawn of satan?
Goes both ways, ya know. You can't demonize folks saying "Linear bad" when you sit around and always say "Open world bad" yourself.
I mean I respect her opinion but at the same time, she's the type of person who seem to critique things without properly looking into it. Her look at first party PS games for example.
I mean, you try being a group of developers trying to think of breaking new ground for gameplay, story and such. It's getting pretty hard at times.
