I mean, Evo this year pretty much already is cancelled.
Several players including SonicFox are out. Commentators like Sajam, UltraDavid and James Chen are out. Max is out. Games are getting pulled.

The brand is beyond tainted now.

EDIT: Apparently Zero got accused as well....I'm going to hold judgement on him until he confirms or denies anything. I sure hope he's able to prove he's not affiliated with any of this...

I think I'm gonna leave this place for a while after today. This **** is absurd and unacceptable and it makes every single person in the community look untrustworthy and shady. This creates so many trust issues within the community that no one will want to go to events where Smash is present due to safety concerns. With all this happening within the competitive Smash community and what ended up happening at EVO, I'm starting to feel quite shameful for being someone within the community...which is not something I want to feel when I am a part of something I truly enjoy.

I just hope that recent things with Zero are cleared and he can actually back up his innocence because....damn this is terrible and very disheartening. 2020 has been a never ending bowl of suck since the beginning of the year...

until we fix this community the events and tournaments dont matter. until girls and children can play the game and not be abused, harrassed, or taken advantage of, our events are secondary. This is disgusting and while its not everyone its a clear pattern abuse and cover-up. we need to do better. reading through stories i was reminded of up and coming players like day that simply vanished and i always wondered what happened to her.

I’ve said this before and, yes, 2020 sucks. We had fear over a war with Iran, stupid politics, huge violations of human rights across the globe, and COVID19. That’s what makes 2020 suck. This....it sucks but this is for the best. In a perfect world, this shouldn’t of happened at all and everyone would have been responsible adults. In a near-perfect world, this stuff would have been stamped out back in 2016 and properly dealt with. But in a barely -perfect world, we gotta deal with this in 2020 and, personally, I would rather deal with it now as opposed to a few years now and let this sort of stuff continue behind closed doors. So please, don’t say 2020 sucks because of this. It’s a huge disservice and, honestly, an insult to the victims.

They'd definitely want out, because 1. Family Friendly company. 2. Mr. Wiz is a pedo. 3. A lot on young children compete at high level for Smash. 4. PR disaster if they stayed in. 5. Smash is the highest viewed game on there.

i can't believe some people are more adamant on twitter about captainzack coming back than ensuring abuse isnt dealt with. zack's actions, attitude and demeanor can easily be traced to being the victim of two predators.
the fact that hyuga is playing smash in the Mexican scene and captain zack had initially a 5 year ban is disgusting. match-fixing is a problem in any sport but context is king and nothing happens in a vaccuum.so yes i support zack coming back. indefinite bans should be passed out to everyone that has adequent evidence shown against them.

as for evo its a loss for the better. honeslty these companies could easily form an independent online event on thier own. i think the only reason snk hasnt pulled out is due to the time difference.

we have to pay attention to what is actually happening around us. i was in the women's law caucus in law school. I learned subtle things that occur that escalate to abuse or "tells" that often show someone is being abused. As guys we generally skip these small interactions because we arent looking for them. I was surprised to learn the lengths young women go through to remain safe and feel secure.

we must be better. reading these stories is utterly heartbreaking. Some people should go to jail for this, not just get cancelled.

these two days had me re-analyzing past events. like lima's farewell speech on twitter and lima cryptically saying how he'd never travel to an overnight smash event again. those words are eerie to me.
