Smash 4's DLC, or Ultimate's DLC, so far?

Honestly, I'm feeling Ultimate's DLC so far. Sure Cloud was super unexpected, but it's very evident that Nintendo is really listening to the cries of the fans, especially with the way they formatted King K. Rool's/Banjo's reveal trailers (I know KRool wasn't DLC but it was the thought that counts).

Joker, Hero, and Banjo are all great additions. Smash 4 DLC brought back vets, and had Ryu, Cloud, Corrin, and Bayo. I don't believe any of these had overwhelming support before inclusion. For one, nobody even expected Cloud, although he and Ryu opened up the floodgates for third party.


All in all, I'm really feeling this Ultimate DLC. (After writing that sentence, I can only say that in Shulk's voice now.)

If we go for which one had the most exciting choices, then I'm torn. Both games gave us a character that I wanted to see in Smash, and one that I felt would work really well, but one who I figured stood no chance whatsoever. (Bayonetta and Banjo)

As an overall package, it's tougher to say (Ultimate's DLC could drop the ball with these last two characters and give us Moblin from Zelda and Camilla from Fire Emblem with eight unique costumes based on Fire Emblem Heroes), but I'd go with Ultimate so far. Both games' DLC were great, but I didn't have an attachment to Roy or Corrin, and I felt like the reasoning behind their inclusion was questionable. (Roy was apparently picked because he was a Melee veteran, meaning that his only competition in that category was Pichu or Young Link, and Corrin was picked to promote a game that probably didn't need the promotion to begin with)

We know only 3 out of 5 DLC characters, but how would you all rate the fighters pass so far?

Joker + Hero: 11/10 If i can put them together because I ****ing love both
Banjo: 5/10 because I little to no connection to him and have little to no excitement

Joker 9/10 Absolutely amazing addition which received a whole lot of deserved love with his moveset, stage, and the music, OH MAN!

Hero 8/10 Ngl, Hero looks dope. About time we got another spell user, and I love how they didn't just stick with one DQ protagonist.

Banjo 7/10 I was personally rooting more for Steve myself, but Banjo still looks to be a lot of fun. And assuming some people that I'm close to really really wanted him, I can forgive blocky boi's absence for now.

So far, it's a solid 8/10

Not bad at all, but this is Smash we're talking about. The last two better be in the 9 or 10 range

That's because K.Rool is secretly a witch. It just never comes up in DKC games because it's irrelevant to Donkey Kong's adventure.

Real talk, do you all prefer Jotaru Kujo, or Joseph Joestar ( Part 2 Look )?
I only saw Parts 1 and 2 of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.
Joseph Joestar just looks so much cooler in my opinion. I think Jotaru Kujo is cool, but he is nothing compared to his grandfather.

I know we haven't seen all the DLC yet, but Ultimate beats sm4sh by a long shot for me.
None of Smash 4's DLC excited me, save for Mewtwo and Corrin. In hindsight, I don't particularly enjoy playing as any of the newcomers from that DLC except Cloud.

And Ultimate, as mentioned earlier is way more interesting to me.

8/10 so far, Joker is a fantastic addition, and ended up being very fun, I can respect Hero being in and the legacy they bring even if I have no personal attachment to Dragon Quest, and Banjo is Banjo. It's already been said but the care put into all 3 of them is beyond what I would've expected.

I don't recall them ever promoting Robin as the first mage in the series. Especially because we got it in Melee in the form of Zelda.

Hero seems like more of a mage fighter to me, like a combination of Link and Robin. I feel Robin is more of a pure mage who only really uses magic. They've got powerful spells but are kind of dopey and clumsy when it comes to sword strikes.

Well said. Robin's sword only good when he casts lightning with it and he even grabs and throws with magic.

Also they fill the aesthetic much better than heroes with tomes, robe and casual telekinesis.

Since we’re rating the DLC so far, I give the DLC roster a 8/10 with what is currently released,

Joker and Hero are both 7/10 for me, they’re characters I have no personal connection to, but they bring cool stuff to the table and you can tell a lot of effort and care was put into portraying the character and their series.

I’m only partially have a connection to Banjo-Kazooie, but I give them a 9/10 since both my brothers had Banjo as their most wanted and it makes me happy to see them happy after most of Banjo’s history has been disappointing for them.
