Figured I'd give an update as it's been...quite some time since I last frequented this thread.
I recently started a new teaching job at another school in Buffalo. It's another Charter school, but this time I'm teaching 7th grade as opposed to high school. It's been roughly a week in the classroom thus far. The kids are squirrely, but they're good kids. They're funny. It'll be a weird I guess...third(?) of the year, but I'm looking forward to it.
What makes it stranger is that now, all schools in my county are closed. Kids aren't physically going to school until April 20th. This means all of my instruction will need to be digital friendly as the structure of the class moves to Google Classroom. Luckily I have experience using it during the last few years. I'm glad I have the experience of teaching online when I taught college a few years ago.
I look forward to holing up on the house, mainly because I'm quite the introvert myself. Animal Crossing comes out on Friday, I have Resident Evil 3 pre-ordered and ready. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least a little spooked with COVID-19 coming around though. I have no symptoms, but you never know.
I've continued to purchase used games and now my backlog is pretty substantial, but I suppose having 4-5 weeks of school closure frees up some time between assigning and grading work.
I hope everybody stays well and healthy. All in this together!
